There has been some recent speculation that the Velma series will be cancelled due to WB-Discovery's new CEO David Zaslav's cancellation of Scoob! Holiday Haunt, as well as a trademark site listing that the name had been abandoned. However, a tweet by animation revisionist Fernando Caire seems to hint that the series may be going ahead after all!
"This fall I will be starting my very first animation gig as a revisionist on Velma at Warner Brothers!" Fernando said in the tweet. "It's been a long journey and I'm so thankful to all my mentors and friends who kept pushing me forward!" It seems we'll have to stay tuned for more info, but looks like we shouldn't count Velma out yet!

August's been a wild ride. It all looked so dim at one point, then it's ending with relief for the franchise's future. I'll just copy and paste part of my comment from the previous post where I linked the tweet because it's very relevant to the conversation that should be had regarding the state of Scooby: "Seems like everyone overblew the cancellation of Holiday Haunt and just assumed all other projects would get axed by a mustache-twirling villain Zaslav when that's not the case. We've gotten confirmation the past couple of weeks of Trick or Treat, Mystery Pups and Velma still in production and coming out". Now it appears clear as day that Discovery isn't the ultimate monster that Scooby-Doo has to fight off. Yeah, Holiday Haunt stung, but it's not the omen of franchise hibernation.

It has been a really wild month, especially considering we had pretty much no news for the first seven months. I'm glad that the Scooby franchise seems to be a lot safer than most people thought it would be, and that we'll be continuing to get content for the next few years!

I’m very happy to see that this is still coming along! After their seemingly filing to remove their trademark or copyright or whatever it was a while back, it really didn’t seem like they would be keeping it. But I’m now excited to see that that isn’t the case!

Me too! I wonder why they removed the trademark. Maybe they're renaming the show?

Maybe it's because of the merging of HB Studios and CN Studios, don't know what it will be called, so they might be moving the trademark.

I'm glad it's still happening... Interestingly, one reply implies season 1 finished production (https://twitter.com/aimeekitty/status/1565072729761427457?t=FuNMUG_bsS9aIiP0T_jPyg&s=19)

wouldn't be a surprise we're getting a second season of Velma... WB seems to always order 2 seasons from the start, at least with Scooby shows

This is excellent news in my books, no matter how the show turns out

Absolutely, I was getting worried that they might cancel other stuff besides Holiday Haunt, but good to see that's not the case.

I would like to apologize for what I feel was taking it to far with fighting back against what I felt was wrong. There comes a point where that becomes counterproductive and just annoying itself and I probably crossed that point
