For those of us who have been waiting seemingly forever for new Scooby content, the day is finally here! Today, a new DTV movie, Shaggy's Showdown, was released on both iTunes and Amazon, two weeks before the DVD release which will be on Valentine's Day (February 14). You can purchase the movie for $15 on Amazon and on iTunes.
I personally have not watched the movie yet, but I'm super excited we're finally getting some new Scooby content after the quiet period since last August's Curse of the Speed Demon release. I will be sure to post a review as soon as I get the chance to watch it!

In "Battle of the Humungonauts" (SDMI), the song "Stuck in My Throat" was originally from the movie "War of the Gargantuas," which the episode parodied.
In their most recent commercial, Halifax has included everyone's favorite sleuthing team, Mystery Inc.! The commercial was filmed in London in 2016 and includes Scott Innes reprising his role as Shaggy and Mindy Cohn reprising her role as Velma. This isn't the first time Halifax has used Hanna-Barbera characters, however. Previous Halifax commercials have included Top Cat and The Flintstones. When interviewed as to why they chose Scooby for the ad, Catherine Kahoe responded "Scooby-Doo is such an iconic character and universally loved - the perfect character to demonstrate how we reward customers who bank with us." Watch the ad here: In honor of a new addition to the site (which I'll get to in a minute), I wanted to do a fun article about my favorite online Scooby-Doo games. This past week, I've been working hard on a new page for the site, listing the very best Scooby-Doo games out in the vast world that is the Internet. Why not all Scooby games, you may ask? To be honest, a lot of Scooby games aren't there aren't incredibly well done or have abysmal graphics - most of those being the non WB-sanctioned games. Admittedly, for those of us who are watching Scooby as teens or adults, some of these games are a bit kiddy. But hey, even I've caught myself playing some of the games in a moment of boredom every once in a while, because they're fun for everyone :). This page includes my personal favorite Scooby games, along with some fun whimsical ones. Unfortunately, many of my previous favorite games were taken down by WB :( , but I still added every remaining game I consider the best of the best. As I'm sure I didn't add every single Scooby game out there, if you have a favorite Scooby game you want added to the page, please feel free to email me and I will put it up! You can check out the page here. In honor of this new page, I'd like to narrow down the games on that page to my top ten favorites. I've placed a link to the games on each of the titles for your convenience. 10. Be Cool Scooby-Doo: It's Dark Out There If you know of Candy Crush or Temple Run, this is another one of those super simple games that is for some reason addictively fun. All you have to do is click on the monster eyes before they capture you, but it gets super addictive super quickly. I know when I first played it, I was like "Oh, that was easy," but then before I knew it, I had been playing for a half an hour trying to beat my record. (I got 62 - see if you can beat it!) So simply due to it's simplicity and it's addictiveness, it's a fun game to play if you're bored or just need some mental stimulation between doing other things. 9. Race to Wrestlemania For those of you who remember the online game that was a companion to Camp Scare (ominously titled "Run for Your Life!") which was sadly discontinued, this game reminds me a lot of that one. In "Race to WrestleMania," you have to try to make it to WWE City and outrun the Ghost Bear, which is the same Ghost Bear in the first Scooby/WWE movie from 2014. This is another really fun fast-paced game for when you're bored, which I've placed it as #9 on the list. 8. Scooby-Doo Snapshot Missing the old Zoinks Points? Miss it no more, because now you can make spooky scenes with Scooby and the gang, plus many classic villains by playing this game. I love this game basically because of the nostalgia of Zoinks Points, which is in a very pathetic state as of currently. A nice throwback for fellow Zoinks Points fans. 7. Big Air 2: Curse of the Half-Pipe Ah, the addictive games are the best ones, aren't they? This is another addictive-because-it's-simple game. The premise is, you're Scooby (or you can also pick from Shaggy or the Mystery Machine), and you have to try to get your skateboard to make the highest jump possible. I'll admit, when I first played the game, I was like "Oh, that's it?" when my first game had finished. But, once you get started, you'll be hooked and trying to beat your previous high score (I believe I got to nearly 5,000 feet once!). You can also choose from three game modes in this game, but I highly recommend the Arcade Mode. Arcade Mode allows you to automatically spin a wheel which will give you various special abilities, such as boost, rocket jump, etc. 6. Horror on the High Seas http://www.scoobydoogamesontheinternet.com/play/ghost-pirate-attacks.html http://www.scoobydoogames235.com/game/scooby_doo_reef_relief.html http://www.scoobydoogames235.com/game/episode_4_pirate_ship_of_fools.html Sure, the three previous games fall into the simple-but-addictive category, but something about a game with a good plot really makes the game better as a whole. In this game, Shaggy and Scooby are vacationing alone on a ship. Suddenly, all the other passengers disappear, and ghost pirates attack the ship. It's up to you to solve the mystery by completing each task successfully. This game includes four parts in total. The various tasks are actually fun and challenging (and I'm saying this as an adult) and is honestly very interesting. I highly recommend this game! 5. Scooby-Doo and the Creepy Castle While the premise is simple in some ways, I like this game because it's genuinely a bit challenging. The premise is this: The Ghost King is trying to scare Scooby! Look for objects or other ways to trap the ghost around the castle rooms before he scares Scooby stiff! If you are scared by the ghost four times in one level, you lose the game. However, you can find boxes of Scooby Snacks around the castle to lower your fear level. Also, you must rescue Velma, Daphne and Fred, who the ghost king has captured. Maybe this sounds simple so far, but here's the catch: you DON'T use the objects in order! They could be used in any order - it's up to you to use your sleuthing skills to figure out where and when to use it. However, you don't have to be paranoid...usually whenever the Ghost King jumps out at you, you will see a piece of his crown or his head peeking out a few seconds before he jumps out so you have time to figure out what item goes where. The music is also really spooky, though a friendly word of warning, keep the volume low! I unfortunately made the mistake of thinking the volume was too quiet before the game had loaded, so I turned the volume all the way up, and...well, you can probably guess what happened next lol. 4. Mayan Monster Madness http://www.scoobydoogamesontheinternet.com/play/river-rapids-rampage.html http://www.scoobydoogamesontheinternet.com/play/creepy-cave.html http://www.scoobydoogamesontheinternet.com/play/terror-in-tikal.html http://www.scoobydoogamesontheinternet.com/play/temple-of-lost-souls.html This is a fantastic four-part story game which features a villain which is none other than...a Mayan god! Maybe that's lame but I thought it was a pretty cool choice of villain at least lol. The premise is this: Scooby and Shaggy are looking to make some chili...and what other way is there to make chili other than adding the hottest pepper in the world? Shaggy and Scooby look for the sacred pepper, but on their journey, a Mayan god chases them! In this story game, you have to solve the mystery by completing each task successfully. This game includes four parts in total. This is another great game to kill an hour. But before I make my final point, I just want to say how creepy a title "The Temple of Lost Souls" (the final part of the game) is for a supposed kids' game! Oh, and a word of warning, last time I played Part 2 (Creepy Cave Cave-In), there was a glitch in the game that prevented you from completing the last task. I didn't have a chance to see if the glitch was still in the game, so if it doesn't work, don't judge me! lol 3. Scooby Trap Before I get into the game, let me just say, if you play this game with the sound on, you will never be able to get the catchy background music out of your head! I have it stuck in my head as I'm writing this....and I played this yesterday! So maybe consider playing with the sound off? haha But onto the game, this game does a great job of integrating classic villains such as the Werewolf, Frankenstein, the Zombie, the Witch, the Phantom of Vazquez Castle, the Green Ghosts, and many more. The game is quite simple actually, simply jump on the villains to defeat them and make it to the end to find the gang! There are 9 levels to complete. This game is quite fun and once you start, it's tough to stop without making it to the end (it's that addictive!). 2. Scooby-Doo and the Goblin King So as the title says this is based on the movie Goblin King, and this game is really complex and fun! You get to pick your broom and you, as Shaggy or Scooby, have to ride your broom and shoot down all of the goblins with your pumpkins! You have tp try to make it through each of the five levels, and once you've completed all five, you move on to the final level where you have to defeat Krudsky himself! This game is so complex it's hard to explain in such a short description, so I'll let you all play it for yourself. But it's an action-adventure game that is a must-play! 1. Haunts For The Holidays
http://www.topcartoongames.com/scooby-doo-theatre-terror.html http://www.scoobydoogamesontheinternet.com/play/ghost-in-the-cellar.html http://www.scoobydoogamesontheinternet.com/play/the-last-act.html Though it may be an unpopular opinion, I can safely say this is my favorite Scooby-Doo game on the Internet. Besides being incredibly festive for the cold wintery, holiday season, the mystery and adventure aspect of this game is awesome! Here's the premise: Scooby and Shaggy are watching the play A Christmas Carol when all three ghosts from the story become real and chase off everyone in the kingdom that the play is being put on at. Worse yet, the Ghost of Christmas Present has stolen the queen's crown! It is up to Shaggy and Scooby to reclaim the crown in this festive three-part story game. The Ghost of Christmas Past's design is soooo cool and creepy too! This game is wonderfully fantastical and I recommend that if you play any of these games I've listed, you play this game. Well, that's it for this article, I hope you enjoyed reading this and that you enjoy the new page! As you've likely noticed, 2017 has so far shown to be a slow year for Scooby-related news! I'm happy to announce that DC Comics has just released their April 2017 comic lineup, which includes a special extra comic in addition to the normal three. The article sadly stayed that way for over 6 years. It was finally caught and corrected on December 7, 2016.
Hi everyone! As promised (since many of you voted for it), here is the poll on what second weekly blog series (in addition to the weekly fun facts) people would like. Here's a brief rundown of each idea: Question of the Week: Each week, a different, interesting question would be posted for everyone have a discussion. Weekly Trivia Contest: Every week, a trivia question would be posted. Whoever gets the question right would have the opportunity to write the next week's question. Fan Art Fridays: Each Friday, I would look for a new, impressive piece of fan art done by a Scooby fan and display it on the blog. Weekly Articles / Reviews: This one is pretty self-explanatory, each week a new article would be posted. And note that these ideas aren't set in stone! I want to do what you all enjoy, so if you want a variation of one of these ideas or have your own idea, please tell me! My other question is simply something I've been wondering about for a while now. Most people who do weekly fun facts do it on Friday for "Fun Fact Fridays." I'm curious if you all enjoy having the fun facts on Mondays or prefer a more traditional Fun Fact Friday. (My only reason for doing them on Mondays is to give people something to look forward to on a morning that's usually disliked by most people). Just as {another} reminder, if you choose to vote more than once in this poll, any votes following the first one will NOT count in the final results (the system automatically will delete any duplicate votes from the same IP address when adding up the total).
One final thing to wrap up this post, for now I have decided to focus what time I have on the site on finishing up the character and a few other unfinished pages, so the weekly blog series may not begin for a bit. Though this isn't at all related to the site or Scooby, I'd like to say just a brief word on this for my site visitors from the US. Today, history was made in America when Donald Trump, the 45th president of the US was officially inaugurated into office. Regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and most importantly, who you voted for, I'd like to give a word of advice. Realize that some people are feeling emotional about the issue, and try to understand why and help them through their tough time. Realize, also, that there are some people who are overjoyed about today's events, and if you feel differently, try to understand why they feel that way. And be aware that social media is currently a frustrated and shocking mess. With that said, let's be tolerant and understanding of everyone, regardless of whether they feel estactic or emotional about the events today! Let's spread love, not hate not just on the site, not just on the Internet, but in your everyday life. So I apologize if I mentioned this before (if I did it was a while ago), but I wanted to do a short article on another project of sorts that I've been doing other than the site.
Back in June 2014, I wrote a fanfiction about what may have happened after the events if the gang had not gotten back together. Slowly but surely, I've been working on writing this fanfiction, which as of last night is now five chapters long. Though it is still a working process, I wanted to share a link to the story on Fanfiction.net in case anyone is interested in what I've been doing outside of the site. In my opinion, the fifth chapter (which was just finished and posted) is better than any other chapter I've written so far. Here is the description for the series: After losing her camera with evidence of real monsters on it, Daphne is more determined than ever to catch footage of real monsters for her now famous TV show, "Coast to Coast with Daphne Blake," with her cameraman Fred. Meanwhile, Velma tries to manage her horror book store when she isn't helping Daphne search for haunted attractions, and Shaggy and Scooby attempt to find a new job after they are fired for "eating all the contraband" at the airport. From creepy ghouls to blood sucking vampires, Daphne intends to capture it all on her video camera to help make her show more famous than ever! Here is the link to all five chapters: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12046796/1/Coast-to-Coast-with-Daphne-Blake *Warning: As this is intended to be a spin-off of Zombie Island, some chapters do get quite dark in the vein of how "Zombie Island" feels, so I've rated this T (for teen).* If you choose to read this, I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did writing it. And if you really liked it, or have criticisms of something you think I should change when I write chapter 6, hey, why not drop a review on Fanfiction.net or leave a comment on here? While those of us who live in the US are waiting for 9 episodes of "The New Scooby-Doo Movies" to be released, those in Britain are only waiting for 8 episodes. Despite refusing to allow WB to release "The Secret of Shark Island" at all in the US, Sonny and Cher allowed WB to release the episode on VHS in Britain and a few other select areas of the UK.
Amazon UK listing: www.amazon.co.uk/Scooby-Doo-Secret-Shark-Island-VHS/dp/B0000574X2 In the UK, some of the What's New Scooby-Doo volumes were released under different names than the US volumes.
