There's no bigger mystery in the Scooby franchise than the mystery of the correct continuity of the show. Fans, especially ones new to the franchise, have immense trouble trying to figure out the true chronological and continuity-following order to watch the episodes in. This is where the timeline comes in. @MrKindNerd (formerly @DallasLKinard), an avid Scooby fan, has spent over a year carefully plotting out each point in the series' and finding a chronological order for the entire franchise, so that fans, both new and old, can actually watch the series as you would normally watch it: in chronological order, ranging from when the gang is little in "A Pup Named Scooby-Doo" to when they became adults in some of the later series. Recently, @MrKindNerd emailed me the timeline he had spent an immense amount of time and effort on, making sure it was perfect and chronologically correct, and quite honestly I was very impressed! The timeline is perfect for the many fans who seek to actually watch the series in the continuity order, and offers many theories to finally solve many of the problems and discontinuities the Scooby franchise unfortunately suffers from. I've done a tiny bit of work as well on the timeline, but most of the credit goes to @MrKindNerd for creating this fantastic timeline! Reader's note: This timeline is always subject to change, due to new material coming out and as new information may present itself. It's our goal to be as objective and logically accurate as possible with this viewing order. Scooby-Doo Chronological Viewing Order Classic Mysteries Era The Early Years Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! Though the Scrappy-Doo shorts made between 1980-1982 are often referred to as "the 7-minute shorts," they are actually closer to six minutes. On average, each of these shorts were about six minutes and 29 seconds long.
Both Flim-Flam (from the 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo) and Sybella (from Scooby-Doo and the Ghoul School) are voiced by the same voice actress, Susan Blu.
Today, the Boomerang streaming service we've all been waiting for has launched, which includes new and exclusive episodes of Be Cool Scooby-Doo...or, at least it was supposed to. The service launched this afternoon, with no signs of any new Be Cool episodes that we were promised. The only Be Cool Scooby-Doo episodes that are included are the first thirteen, which have already been aired on TV and released on DVD.
In addition, the "thousands of episodes" which were originally announced only include these few in the Scooby department: Scooby-Doo, Where Are You episodes 1-13 What's New Scooby-Doo episodes 1-13 Be Cool Scooby-Doo episodes 1-13 Scooby-Doo in: Arabian Nights Scooby-Doo Meets the Boo Brothers Scooby-Doo and the Reluctant Werewolf Scooby-Doo and the Witch's Ghost Scooby-Doo and the Alien Invaders Scooby-Doo and the Monster of Mexico Scooby-Doo 4: Curse of the Lake Monster However, there is some hope for new episodes still, as Boomerang's FAQ lists that new content will be posted weekly. Generally I try to keep my personal synthesis out of news posts, but I must say that I really hope new episodes are added quickly, because right now their "amazing service" (the term they used to promote it in one of their email promos) gets a big thumbs down in my book. I'll keep you all updated if there's any movement with new episodes, but for now you can try a free trial of the service for a limited time at Boomerang.com. Scooby-Doo Meets The Boo Brothers is one of the few Scooby-Doo movies which has slight controversy regarding the mystery's conclusion. Most prominently, the Skull Ghost clearly has differences in its appearance each time it appears. In the first appearance, the Skull Ghost is all bones and has glowing red eyes. In other appearances, the Skull Ghost appears to be a man in a black suit and has no red eyes. Some believe this means that the ghost was real in the first appearance, while others agree with Shaggy, Scooby, and Scrappy's conclusion that the Skull Ghost was the Sheriff's brother each time.
In addition, it is left very unclear whether Uncle Beauregard was real throughout the movie and in which appearances he was real, if any. Though it's a pretty common conception that the ghost's final appearance after the Sheriff was taken to jail was the real ghost of Uncle Beauregard, the Sheriff never actually admits to dressing up as Beauregard's ghost, so therefore it is simply speculation that he dressed up as that ghost as well. Conversely, it should be noted that in one of the appearances, the ghost had to use a secret passage to make it through the wall, which is not something a real ghost would necessarily need to do. Lastly, we are not technically sure which category the Ghost in the Attic or the glowing-eyed wolf (which the gang encountered as they first arrived at the mansion along with the Headless Horseman) falls into. The Ghost in the Attic, while likely Farquard, was never confirmed officially in the movie. The wolf is never seen or talked about after the initial appearance, so it is completely up to interpretation whether that ghost was real. I realize this is a rather long fun fact, but I admittedly find this "controversy" (or whatever you want to call it) quite intriguing. If you have a stance on which ghosts were real and which ones were fake, what do you believe and why? While we're waiting for the Boomerang streaming service to launch, Canada aired these two episodes over the weekend, and I was able to find some screencaps from both episodes online (and no need to worry about spoilers). Simple Plan's "I'd Do Anything" (which was featured in the What's New, Scooby-Doo? episode "It's Mean, It's Green, It's the Mystery Machine") is currently the only Scooby-Doo chase song that was charting on the Billboard Hot 100 at the time it was used in the episode. The song eventually climbed to #51 on the Billboard Hot 100 on March 15, 2003, less than five months after the episode aired.
