Written by SHOLLY FISCH Art and cover by DARIO BRIZUELA On sale MARCH 2 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US • RATED E Sure, The Flash runs faster than anyone on Earth. But Scooby and Shaggy run away faster than anyone on Earth! And it’s no wonder why, when the gang accompanies the Scarlet Speedster to the heart of Africa to come face to snout with that talking, anthropoid apparition—the Ghost of Gorilla City! Nope, this isn't a joke. Lol
Yesterday, DC Comics announced that a new comic series called "Scooby Apocalypse" would be released in May. Not much is known right now, other than it will feature the Scooby-Doo gang in a "new light" solving mysteries in the Apocalypse. So, for those of you who still think this is some kind of cruel joke DC is pulling on us, here's Jim Lee, one of the people who will be drawing the comics, has to say about this surprising twist on the classic Scooby-Doo formula: “I’m a huge Scooby Doo fan, as I think most people are,” admits Lee. “I mean, look at these iconic series and they were cultural touchstones for everyone. All my kids know of Scooby Doo from the various cartoons and live action movies, and we’re in a period where you have people my age that are spending their days thinking about cartoon and sci-fi action movies. It’s a multigenerational obsession at this point, and we just thought it would just be really interesting to take the cartoon version of these characters and see where they would be if we took what existed in the very first iteration of the cartoon and moved it into this day and age."As for what they hope the reaction to these new and updated characters will be? “Outrage!” Lee jokes with a laugh. “I hope that they put a smile on people’s faces. I think we think of these characters so much as our childhood, and I want people to kind of embrace these updated versions of the characters and really understand that at the core, these concepts are not just limited to little kids.” Besides the Scooby Apocalypse series, there will also be a Flintstones and Jonny Quest comic series coming this May to stores. So, what are your thoughts on Scooby Apocalypse? Is it a great new twist or has DC Comics gone too far? Source and Photo Creds: http://www.ew.com/2016/01/28/dc-entertainment-hanna-barbera-titles The official Turner Classic Movies website has confirmed that there will be at least five more Scooby DTV movies released throughout the next three years. The movies will be Scooby-Doo Wrestlemania Mystery 2 in 2016, Scooby-Doo! Wild West in 2017 (along with another untitled 2017 DTV), and two untitled DTVs in 2018. Only one new movie has been confirmed so far for this year, meaning that this could be the first year since 2011 that we only see one Scooby movie released.
Thanks to mattpricetime on ScoobyAddicts for finding this. Scooby's most common opponent in cartoon-related competitions (i.e. Greatest Cartoon of All Time Countdown from 2013, awards, etc.) is Snoopy.
Nearly all of the stars who appeared in The New Scooby-Doo Movies are deceased. The only living (non-fictional) guest-stars remaining are Sandy Duncan (age 69), Cher (age 69), most of the Harlem Globetrotters, Tim Conway (age 82) and Dick Van Dyke (age 90)
