There's no bigger mystery in the Scooby franchise than the mystery of the correct continuity of the show. Fans, especially ones new to the franchise, have immense trouble trying to figure out the true chronological and continuity-following order to watch the episodes in. This is where the timeline comes in. @MrKindNerd (formerly @DallasLKinard), an avid Scooby fan, has spent over a year carefully plotting out each point in the series' and finding a chronological order for the entire franchise, so that fans, both new and old, can actually watch the series as you would normally watch it: in chronological order, ranging from when the gang is little in "A Pup Named Scooby-Doo" to when they became adults in some of the later series. Recently, @MrKindNerd emailed me the timeline he had spent an immense amount of time and effort on, making sure it was perfect and chronologically correct, and quite honestly I was very impressed! The timeline is perfect for the many fans who seek to actually watch the series in the continuity order, and offers many theories to finally solve many of the problems and discontinuities the Scooby franchise unfortunately suffers from. I've done a tiny bit of work as well on the timeline, but most of the credit goes to @MrKindNerd for creating this fantastic timeline! Reader's note: This timeline is always subject to change, due to new material coming out and as new information may present itself. It's our goal to be as objective and logically accurate as possible with this viewing order. Don't see how SDMi can be first.

I'm not sure if I 100% agree with the placement either, but we ended up compromising that SDMI ended in an alternate timeline that sort of led into Where Are You (plus in both series they were in high school) and placed SDMI first.

Well its a tad odd since SDMI has technology in it which didn't exist before the vast majority of Scooby episodes...still nice work on the timeline regardless. Roughly the same as how I had it in my mind. 4/23/2022 11:33:56 am
I just noticed that I never responded to this critique. Suppose 5 years late is better than never lol. That's a fair point about the technology - I suppose, for the sake of canon, you could argue that the technology regressed when the timeline changed at the end of the series. I don't think there's any way we're going to get it perfect, since there are so many moving pieces and different aspects that could take something out of continuity, but ultimately I think SDMI best fits at the beginning, since the timeline resets into Where Are You.

I would say the curse of the 13th ghost would come after zombie island. Everyone is back together in zombie island but not in ghoul school, boo brothers, and reluctant werewolf. Also curse of 13th ghost and return to zombie island seem to take place right after each other.

Agreed, Niel. I think that, the last time updates were made, it seemed most likely that the direct sequels would happen immediately after the productions that spawned them (or at least, with nothing in between). 12/2/2019 01:45:23 pm
Thanks for the comment Niel! Dallas and I talked about this over the weekend, and it sounds like we were thinking it would make most since to have them placed after Cyber Chase. 12/2/2019 01:51:08 pm
@Tom Holste We were thinking it made more since in this case, due to the obvious drastic change in tone, that it would make more since to put both films after Cyber Chase. I've changed this on the timeline now. It's also probably worth noting that Dallas has not seen either film yet, so these are purely my opinions that Dallas has agreed with until he gets the chance to watch them.

Thanks, WW! I agree; putting those films after the 4 movies from the original "Zombie Island" to "Cyber Chase" makes a lot of sense. Those four films clearly feel connected for obvious reasons. 12/3/2019 11:38:17 am
No worries! I'm not sure if we will get an explanation for the Mystery Machine being back at some point in the DTVs, or if that hanging plot thread will just be dropped and we'll have the Mystery Machine back without any explanation.

Oops--took a while to reply this time! 12/24/2019 09:56:12 am
I hope it doesn't continue through more "sequels" to previous Scooby works. "Scooby-Doo in King Arthur's Court" is the next DTV, which isn't a sequel to anything, so I'm hoping they'll tie up the plot thread by then without having to make any more sequels.

Agreed. Some of the placements aren’t correct. In Mystery Incorporated mentions that the series excluding Fred and Velma were in a previous year in high school. 12/28/2019 11:28:54 am
I would need to look again, but I believe Dallas's explanation for placing it there was because the entire timeline rebooted at the end of the series, and thus Fred and Velma being gone were just more manipulations of the universe by the Evil Entity. In the series where Fred and Velma are gone, the explanation in "Happy Birthday, Scooby-Doo" from The New Scooby-Doo Mysteries is that Fred is a mystery writer and Velma works for NASA. This would contradict what SDMI says, so it makes more sense to just say it was part of the Entity's manipulations in the alternate universe.

Im new to Scooby Doo. Ive seen all of Wher e Are You, and season 3 of the scooby doo show. I was wondering if a chronological order existed, so I was really happy when I saw this. I haven't seen anything with the Hex Girls but I know they appear in SDMI after appearing on 2 movies and Whats New. When watching in this order does SDMI work as taking the spot of their first appearance?
Reply

Actually since it's treated in the first SDMI ep where they appear as if the gang doesn't know them, it would work. And welcome to the Scooby fandom! :)

"Scoobynatural" has now been added under "A Night of Fright is No Delight" from Scooby-Doo, Where Are You?. Since Sam, Dean, and Castiel are zapped into that episode and their presence alters the timeline of the episode, it makes sense chronologically to have it right after the original episode, as sort of an "alternate version."

Can you try and add the live action movies into this because Scooby-Doo! The Mystery Begins is the story of how all the gang met and then Scooby-Doo! The Lake Monster is about the lake Monster Scooby-Doo 1 takes place right after the Luna Ghost and then there is the Monsters Unleashed and then there is a new Daphne & Velma duo movie and I wanna binge this all the way through so if you can add live action I’d appreciate it

Responding to Michael below (for some reason, I don't see a "Reply" button next to his post): this means that in the scooby do universe its just a show so the timeline dosnt even matter all you had to do was put them in relese order and use scooby-natural to back it up but still is nice that you worked so hard on this timeline and also be cool scooby doo takes place when they get out of high school and in scooby doo zombie island daphine is a reporter and has her own show 3/17/2020 04:33:02 pm
Sorry that you don't agree with the timeline order, Nate. Be Cool, Scooby-Doo! does not take place after high school. This was an early draft of the show that was scrapped (this was confirmed by the head writer), though some media outlets did not change this.

Jaguaro, as the mods have said multiple times in this thread, the idea behind putting "Mystery Incorporated" before "Where are You" is that the timeline gets reset at the end of the show, meaning that the gang met Charlie the Robot a second time in the revised timeline. 10/20/2020 04:29:17 pm
Thanks so much, Tom. I absolutely agree with everything you said here. I think Dallas is the one more dedicated to having SDMI first, as I honestly feel like it could go either way. I'm more than happy to take any suggestions anyone may have, but I hope no one ever feels bad if we don't necessarily take every single suggestion we get. The Scooby timeline is a hard one to decipher and admittedly, as demonstrated with SDMI, even Dallas and I have minor disagreements about where things are! It's all just a fun discussion though, so there's no need for anyone to get worked up.

Hi! I just found your blog and I love it. I never did watched all of the Sooby Doo series but I want to. I am so confused though. Is SDMi before Scooby Doo Where are You? I thought the order of watching is the order of when they were released :D I guess not.

Welcome to the blog, Arben! I'm so glad you liked it! In hindsight, I probably should have fought harder for Where Are You to be before SDMI, as I think it's a bit confusing too (and others do as well as you can see by a couple of the above comments). That was a decision by the person I co-created this with, Dallas.

Hello all! I'm finally getting back into updating this. It's SUPER out-dated and needs a ton of work, but I'm on it! If anyone knows where I can find out the production order for each series, that'd be very helpful! For anyone wanting to help or follow along with my progress on this project, here is the link to the master doc. Feel free to check in on it every so often for updates! When figuring out all of these things, I plan on doing an episode by episode analysis to look out for clues like weather, calendars, on-screen-dates, character ages, etc. Basically any notes I can take that will help to place each chapter of the franchise. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone!

This is an interesting debate, even if just for the fun of it. To be honest, I haven't watched enough Scooby-Doo in my lifetime to have an informed opinion. But, I found this while preparing for a watchthrough on where to begin. I'm a chronological person, too. I've seen various incarnations/episodes over the years, but have never actually watched any of the except for Mystery Inc all the way through. I'll watch them in this order and see if there's any glaring inconsistencies. Thanks for all the hard work. I can't imagine how long it took to put this together.

Thank you so much for pointing this out! I had thought we had added this to the timeline, but apparently I had forgotten to transfer Guess Who over from our master doc. We placed it right after The New Scooby-Doo Movies, except for the Batman episode, which says the gang did not know Daphne had an uncle. Because of this, we placed it right before the first time we met an uncle of Daphne's, which was Uncle Maxwell in "Never Ape an Ape Man." So it's between that and "What the Hex is Going On?"

That's certainly possible, though I think arguments could be made either way. We thought if SDMI reset the entire timeline, it made more sense just to put it at the beginning and have the last episode be the "start" of the official Scooby-Doo timeline.

I heard that the new SCOOB! movie will be the start of a cinematic Hanna barbera universe. how will this effect the timeline and will it be a different timeline or be the same timeline?
Reply
4/24/2020 12:56:34 pm
I think it will really depend on what happens in the film, so I can't definitively say yet! But presumably, this would bring some other franchises technically into the same timeline as Scooby, though I don't think we'll list them out episode by episode since many of the franchises are already intertwined with Scooby through Laff a Lympics or Scooby's guest appearances on their show (i.e. Dynomutt and Blue Falcon, Captain Caveman, etc.) Come to think of it, I think the only new franchise that will officially become a part of the timeline that wasn't already from SCOOB! is Muttley and Dick Dastardly. In Laff-a-Lympics, both of those characters were there, but technically under different names (Mumbly and The Dread Baron).

I've recently finished watching Mi and I was wondering which show (if any) takes place after or during their time with the new Mr. E (Harlan Ellison), or was that not included?

There isn't any show that follows that storyline unfortunately. It's just kind of left on a cliffhanger and no future show chooses to explore that.

I watched SCOOB! the moment it came out (right at midnight on the release date) and I loved it! I agree that this backs up our timeline, and I put it at the bottom of our timeline in the reboot era. I see I forgot to put the year after it though, so I'll fix that tonight!

My research is done and i found nothing. the only show i included in my reserch was Mi becuase at the end the timeline was remade and i dont fthink they would still have the new mystery machine seen at the end of scoob maybe they made it in the same shape as teh orginal becuase a big thing in scoob wasthw robots can hange their shape and look and at least a mounth if not longer had pasted between when they beat dick and the grand opening so they prob had acces tom the teck after the dick incident and had been able to modify it into the new mytery machine or maybe at some poiunt inbetween scoob and MI the new one got broken or destoyed and they got a new one more like the original

i also have another theroy about the bulding they opened up in the end of SCOOB. I think the reason we did not see it in MI is becuase they went bankrupt and ha dto shut down the building.(prob went bankrupt from Fred buying stuff for traps LOL) so then maybe they had to find a new place to work and Angel being part of the original Mystery Incorperated wanted to keep an eye on them so let them work in her studio

I was also wondering why you guys chose to put SCOOB! in the Reboot section?
Reply
5/20/2020 01:49:42 pm
It was mainly my decision and Dallas agreed to it, since he hasn't had a chance to watch the movie yet. It sort of doesn't really fit with any particular series, as it provides yet another explanation as to how the gang met, and it's out of continuity with stuff like Mask of the Blue Falcon and the three Dynomutt episodes the gang guest stars in, even though those other pieces you researched fit with the timeline. I'd be happy to hear if you have a different opinion of where it should be placed, though! :)

it seems that they were trying to make an origin story for the original scooby game and not the ones from the reboot or just trying to reboot them again.in the trailer they stated that it is an origin story a few times. and then they remade the original intro song. witch seemed they were trying to show that those events had already happened but remember its an origin story. and the intro song remake had scenes different and some scenes they were younger implying that they did not happen the same way they happened in the show. and you guys have stated that the events of the og show happened in the MI original timeline but happened differently than in the first show. and that's not all. also what do you mean out of continuity with stuff like Mask of the Blue Falcon and the eps with them?
Reply
5/21/2020 04:24:06 pm
I'm not sure which "original Scooby game" you're talking about, sorry. The Mask of the Blue Falcon film portrays Blue Falcon as sort of this washed up superhero if I remember right, and doesn't talk anything about the Falcon Fury. Dynomutt is always far more goofy and silly, whereas in SCOOB! he was super serious, so unless he had a serious personality change (which is possible) it wouldn't be consistent with the Dynomutt we see in SCOOB!.

Ah okay, that makes more sense. I think Scooby Goes Hollywood makes it the most iffy because it directly contradicts this...so either SCOOB! has to be a reboot or Scooby Goes Hollywood is...though I'm minded to believe maybe we should move Scooby Goes Hollywood to the reboots and make SCOOB! into the main continuity...what do you think?

I do remember a doc or something that Dallas and you Made. that had this timeline and notes that explained why things went where they were on the timeline and on the doc it said that in scooby doo goes to Hollywood it was revealed that they got scooby from a pet shop. but in an ep of what's new scooby doo S3E8 there was a flashback to when they were kids and scoob was there you guys explained this as Scoob being shags dog but then he got lost at some point but then they got him back years later at the pet shop. but that flashback takes place in the Pup Named Scooby-doo era. that show toke place in the original MI timeline. what if they at some point after creating the new timeline they got the memories of the way their life happened up until the point when they arrived in the new timeline. have you ever seen the flash [SPOILER WARNING] he time-traveled in an ep creating a new timeline called flashpoint. in it he started losing his memories from the other timeline and they would be replaced by the memories from the timeline he created. the same thing would happen to them only they would also have memories from the old timeline. let us pretend for a second that they did not go crazy from having memories of 2 different lives. they would prob not know which one was really how they met Scoob. so their memory from Scooby-Doo goes to Hollywood was from the new timeline.

In mask of the blue falcon, Blue falcon and Dynomutt are just charecters on a superhero show and not real, but they are real in the Dynomutt show where the gang made cameos. how do you explan that?

You know, this is actually another great point! I will let Dallas know to check this comment out as well to see what he thinks. You can let myself or WildWindVampire know of any notes/details you discover. There is no such thing as "too much information". Anything you think may help to better place a movie or episode in relation to the rest of the timeline will be absolutely noted and would help with this massive project.

Wow the website has been quiet the last few days, ive been busy with school wrapping up but i hve done some reserch for the timeline and found a few things, in SDMI there is one scene where Delphine lookis at a statue of scrappy and Fred says "Look away Delphine, we promised wed never speak of him again" meaning not only does he exit in the Og timeline but he also was most likley a part of the gang at some point and then they had some falling out. So i think that all the eps with scrappy and the WHole gang should be moved to before SDMI but the eps with crappy, Scoob, SHaggy and sometimes Delphine should stay where they are or be moved to better fitin the timeline. so in the new timeline after SDMI scrappy prob came to live with His Uncle Scooby and Scoob prob forgave him Shaggy would prob be okey with it. and in the scene from SDMI Delphine did not seem to hold a grudge or be ashamed of him so shew would prob forgive him. also in Sooby doo Cruse of the 13th Goust Velma and Fred do not seem to remember him maybe They did not tell them that they forgave Scrappy. also if this is the case we should prob add the original 2 scooby doo live action moives the fist one would prob go after the eps with scrappy and i will leave where the sequal monters unleased goes up yo you guys.plz let me know if there is any questions you haven regarding this theroy and I will be sure to give a answer

Totally agree with your theory, Kirbo! Tom, Maybe this seems like a cop-out answer, but maybe Vincent Van Ghoul was an actor in SDMI, but when the timeline reset, he became a demon hunter?
Kirbo
6/5/2020 10:39:36 am
I said that only the scrappy eps with the whole gang would be moved meaning 13 ghosts would stay where it is. Vincent is still a Tv star in the Og timeline. they prob met Flim Flam in a diffifernt way.

the only problem is I think we should also add the 2002 Scooby Doo witch would not make since becuase in it the monster was real. but in later events she has a much harder time accepting the super natural. after the events of zombie island she refusses to let the fact that it was real even be a possibility. but in SDMI she let it be a possiblity she knew it was real she just toke time to process it. maybe its becuase she had just recently had an encounter with a real monster in the 2002 Scooby Doo moive and after the timeline reset she was prob convinsed that there were none in the new timeline witch is why she would not accept it later on.
Reply
6/5/2020 03:36:20 pm
I guess I'm confused as to how adding the 2002 film would make a difference, since SDMI is already the first thing in the timeline and everything that happened is rebooted.

I Don't Remember exactly how I fell in love with the franchise I just know that I did I had tons of scooby doo coloring and eye spy books. One Christmas i got a scooby doo DVD called scooby doo meets batman it had 2 eps from the new scooby doo movies on it and i loved it I watched it all the time, it was the first scooby doo DVD i owned and i was very protective of it i don't think I let anyone but me and my friend who also loved scooby doo touch it. my older sister had owned scooby doo curse of the lake monster I watched it all the time that too I think that's what brought me into the franchise. I also rented scooby doo from my library all the time. i was a huge Scooby fan my family knew it my friends knew it even my teachers. in 3rd grade, the teacher gave me scooby doo books to read I guess my mom told her I liked scooby doo. I had just moved to a new school it was around this time I was falling away from the fanbase prob because of the stress of a new school and people making fun of me. I had been worried i would never see my best friend again, who was also a scooby doo fan. just a few months before the quarantine started i came back to the fan base. 6/10/2020 10:35:45 pm
Scooby-Doo Meets Batman was among the first episodes I saw as well, along with the Harlem Globetrotters episodes, which is why I have such a soft spot from those. I totally get worrying about people making fun of you; I worried about liking Scooby not being mature enough when I was in middle school as well. But I'm still a fan to this day, so obviously the worry didn't overcome my love for Scooby! That's cool that you came back to the fanbase though after leaving!

Hey all, I made some updates today to add Guess Who season 2 and Happy Halloween to the timeline. A few of the most recent episodes are out of order because "The High School Wolfman's Musical Lament!" includes scenes from season 2, episodes 3 and 7, likely meaning they were aired in a different order than it was produced.

Thank you! The head writer of Be Cool, Jon Colton Barry, has directly said that it's intended to be a reboot of Where Are You, providing a different origin story for the gang. Fred's dad is a criminal, Scooby is introduced to Scooby Snacks and we find out how they're named after him specifically, Daphne's birthday is on Christmas, among some other contradictions and discrepancies from the rest of the franchise. Seeing as JCB said that it is a reboot, we wanted it to be in its own category since it was specifically created to provide its own origin story for the gang of sorts.

No worries. I'm not necessarily all for SDMI being before Where Are You either, it was more Dallas's idea than mine. I think the explanation was just that everything was rebooted at the end of SDMI, so basically the "new reality" sent them back in time to Where Are You.

Hi Byron, I do look at this post still and have a recent comment feed that shows whenever anyone makes a comment on any thread, so I'll always see it! :) I just added The Sword and the Scoob and the most recent Guess Who episode. The Sword and the Scoob, however, is placed in the reboot section of the timeline, because there is a very brief scene in which a clip from the intro from Be Cool, Scooby-Doo! is shown (this is during the scene where the gang is sent back in time by the ghost of Morgan La Fey). Unfortunately, since Be Cool, Scooby-Doo! is in the reboot timeline, this has to be placed there as well.

It's the first time they've mentioned it aloud, but they have had Crystal Cove license plates on the Mystery Machine in a couple movies. Crystal Cove is also mentioned in the Sword and the Scoob.

One of the head writers of Be Cool, Scooby-Doo! has shared that the show purposefully reimagines moments from Where Are You in a different timeline (including Shaggy and Scooby being introduced to Scooby Snacks), so we decided to move it into its own reboot timeline.

Hey it’s me again! I have another point I wanted to talk about and that is the gangs age. In where are you the gang is 15,16,17. In mystery incorporated they’re all the same age. This leads me to believe the mystery incorporated should be part of a separate timeline because in a pup named Scooby Doo their ages are the same as way. Just a suggestion tho your timeline is really groovy already!

I have another question which is has to do with Batman. So in the dynamic Scooby Doo affair Batman and robin meet the gang for the first time. But in your timeline you have the movie before the episode which i mean you can do whatever you want and I’m not gonna complain your timeline’s great but the episode is the first time they meet.
Reply
4/17/2021 02:44:50 pm
The reason we put the movie before the episode was because Batman was alone in that film (Robin was nowhere to be seen), and the gang acted like they had never met Batman before, and Batman was kind of cold with them. I suppose the episode could go before the movie and maybe the film could be put in the reboot timeline, since they don't really seem to recognize Batman at all in either.

Another point (your probably getting tired of my comments lol) is the fact that boo brothers, ghoul school, and reluctant werewolf takes place before daphnes return. I think it would make more sense if you moved those movies up after the end of puppy hour or Richie rich. If you have a reason to put them there I would love to here it. The Scooby timeline is the biggest mystery of all lol.

No worries, I'm not getting sick of your questions at all! I feel like all these things you're asking are things Dallas put there that I just didn't challenge haha. To explain, Dallas is the one who created most of this timeline and he reached out to me to see if my site would be a place to publish it. I also read over what he had and offered suggestions...so yeah, I'm sorry that my answer to many of your questions are "I'll ask Dallas," but the things you're asking are things that Dallas put there that I just didn't challenge. I agree it would make more sense that Boo Brothers/Ghoul School/Reluctant Werewolf were after the shorts.

So I already noticed something in the first episode of A Pup Named. When Shaggy's at the Clubhouse with the gang and upset about his bike being stolen, he says it's a "cherry 1959 Starfire Special". The bike doesn't actually exist, but it gives a year. Personally, I've alwayd felt the gang was around 8 years old in A Pup Named, and if Shaggy is 17 in 1969 when the Where Are You aired he'd be 7 in 1959. It's probably set in the summer too, since Shaggy has a job, and has to get up early, and most kids probably wouldn't want to have a job and school at that time. Though I guess if it's supposed to be the 50s, that might have been more common.

Good point Graig! The only problem is that we don’t have any proof shaggy gets his bike at the time of a pup named Scooby Doo. It’s possible he got his bike a few years earlier. My opinion is that shaggy is 9-10 during the show but then again when shaggy looses his bike he acts like he’s 7 lol.

THank you!! And you're right, we don't. Also, Daphne calls it a "rickety old bike" so that tells us it's probably a few years old - Daphne would probably call anything a year old "rickety" at that point haha - so it's likely the show is set a few years after the bike's first release. 4/19/2021 09:20:02 am

Okay, I forgot that Scooby probably ages like a human (he shows up as a "baby puppy" with Shaggy in a flashback in the third episode of A Pup Named) so ignore the thing about his heigh/age cause he's probably around the same age as the rest of the gang lol.

That is confusing haha. I assume she was joking. It was never confirmed that Scooby-Doo was 7 during Where Are You in-show.
Graig
4/23/2021 08:20:18 pm
Scooby's age was never confirmed in the show I believe. And I think based on info from Mystery Incorporated, we can assume that Scooby ages at a more human rate than normal dogs, which is how that would work. 4/24/2021 10:42:40 am
Nope, Scooby's age was not confirmed in any show (I don't think any of the gang's was confirmed either). I believe Mystery Begins is the closest we get where it's confirmed Shaggy is 16 (while the rest of the gang is assumed to be 15) because he got held back a year.
Graig
4/24/2021 12:10:05 pm
Right! So, knowing that, since Scooby is shown to age at the same right as Shaggy in Pup, and we know that he's not entirely a normal dog, we can just assume he ages like a human does.

I would absolutely agree that Curse of the 13th Ghost, Return to Zombie Island and Happy Halloween are a trilogy. Ok guys I’ve been spending a lot of time on Scooby recently and I’ve noticed some things. The puppet movie takes place around a pup named Scooby Doo. Also in Pirates Ahoy Fred has different parents so Pirates Ahoy can not be in the same timeline as mystery incorporated. Also why not put Arabian nights close to get a clue?

For some reason Dallas didn't want Mystery Map in here, though I don't remember why. Yep, Pirates Ahoy has to be in a different timeline, I agree. I suppose we could put Arabian Nights next to Get a Clue, but Arabian Nights would have to be after since the first episode shows them breaking off from the gang at the diner.

Yeah I’ll have to do a rewatch of Arabian nights to see. Also why couldn’t get a clue be before zombie island? In zombie island the gang has clearly broken up before zombie island (Velma at bookstore, Fred and Daphne at coast to coast, shaggy and scoob at the airport). In scrappy they clearly say Velma was at nasa and Fred was a writer so clearly this is different from zombie island. 6/5/2021 10:02:16 am

Hello again! No offense but putting Arabian Nights after a pup named Scooby Doo is completely ridiculous. In the movie shaggy and Scooby are going to Saudi Arabia which is a foreign country (meaning they couldn’t travel by themselves if they aren’t adults) to become royal taste testers. I don’t know about you but to me royal taste testing doesn’t seem like a high school job. Also I watched Scooby Doo on Zombie Island and Shaggy clearly says “our love for food has taken us all over the world.” This is most likely what he’s talking about. I suggest you put Arabian Nights where it belongs: right before Zombie Island. I apologize that was a little heated. I’ve noticed you still have a pup and mystery incorporated in the same timeline. You should probably fix that unless you can explain how Shaggy’s dad changes and his little sister disappears. Anyways sorry I’m mad but I mean dads don’t change and high schoolers don’t get full time jobs on another continent. You guys are cool and please don’t take this as me trying to make you look bad, in fact I’m trying to make you look better!

Hi Jaguaro, you make a great point about how it's unlikely royal taste testing would be a high school job, and the difference with Shaggy's father. I'm almost thinking Pup and SDMI need to be in an alternate timeline. I will bring that up to Dallas because I agree with you that it doesn't really fit there in hindsight. Thanks so much for your feedback/suggestions as always and for trying to make our timeline look better!

A word of advice: if you separate the two don’t put a pup in a separate timeline put MI in a separate timeline.
Tom Holste
7/22/2021 05:39:09 pm
This is just my opinion, but since "Arabian Nights" is an adaptation anyway, I took it that we're just seeing their high school production of the play. ;) So there's no actual world traveling, just Shaggy and Scooby play-acting. 7/22/2021 08:10:28 pm
@Jaguaro No worries! :) Yeah, if Dallas agrees with moving it, SDMI is definitely moving to another timeline. It makes the most sense to move that one instead of Pup, given SDMI is the one that ends with its timeline rebooted. 7/22/2021 08:11:39 pm
@Tom Holste I actually really love that idea! haha I will still check in with Dallas to see how he wants to handle it though. 7/25/2021 04:37:52 pm

This is a spoiler for SDMI, but the timeline resets at the end of the show. Dallas and I's rationale was that since the timeline completely resets, it made more sense to put everything after SDMI since nothing in that show technically happened once the timeline rebooted. Putting Pup before SDMI could imply that SDMI resetting the timeline somehow altered that show, which we didn't think made sense.

Hey, Wildwind! It looks like there are three timelines: Alternate, Original, and Reboot. Maybe if you put the Original first, it wouldn't cause as much confusion for readers? I'm not asking to change the timelines themselves, just the placement of them. If you did Original first, you'd start with "Pup," which is what most people are expecting to see. Then after "Get a Clue," you would have SDMI in its own separate, contained timeline. Then "Be Cool" would also be its own standalone thing as a Reboot. 10/31/2021 11:34:32 am
Hi Thomas! I really like your idea, as it does feel like a lot of people disagreed about SDMI being placed first. If I spot anything else I’ll let you know I understand not taking the guess who tip it doesn’t have an reasoning behind it other than the wackiness and how it seems to be a remake of the new Scooby Doo movies as be cool was a remake of WAY.

i have seen this in two places on my DVDs and on wikipedia in A Pup Named Scooby-Doo in season 1 episode 3 should be "Wanted Cheddar Alive" and episode 4 should be "The Schnook Who Took My Comic Book" and in season 3 episode 3 should be "Horror Of The Haunted Hairpiece" and episode 4 should be "Wrestler Maniac" then season 4 should be in this order episode 1 "The Were-Doo Of Doo Manor" episode 2 "Catcher On The Sly" episode 3 "The Ghost Of Mrs. Shusham" episode 4 "The Wrath Of Waitro and episode 5 "Mayhem Of The Moving Mollusk"

I know there's a bit of uncertainty regarding the order of these episodes, and unfortunately, the DVDs are inconsistent as well. The volume sets have one order and the season sets have another. For these, I think we decided to go by the Scooby-Doo Encyclopedia for the order since there isn't consistency, but you're correct that a couple of those don't reflect the order of the encyclopedia. I switched episodes 3 and 4 around for seasons 1 and 3, but the last group is in the correct order according to the encyclopedia. Since there isn't really any consensus on what order the final episodes are in, I think it's best we just stick to the encyclopedia order since that's the most reliable source we have IMO. I'm happy to discuss it further if you don't agree, though. Thank you for pointing out those mistakes, and I switched the season 1 and 3 episodes around.

Is this Scooby-Doo Encyclopedia something I can view on line or is it a physical book that I can buy

Yeah what encyclopedia? I have the Scooby Doo encyclopedia and it only has info on WAY - 13 Ghosts. Also there’s a consistent order which can be found on the wiki, Wikipedia and the dvd. Please elaborate on what you’re talking about

WildwindVampire can you tell me if the Scooby-Doo Encyclopedia you are referring to is something i can view online or is it a physical book i can buy 1/30/2022 10:02:35 am
Sorry, I remembered the name of the book wrong. The encyclopedia I was talking about is the Scooby-Doo Character Reference Guide Part 2 by Joe LoCicero. Here's the Amazon link to it, though it unfortunately says the book is currently sold out. https://www.amazon.com/Scooby-Doo-character-reference-guide-LoCicero/dp/1560394005

Hello it’s me (again)! I’d just like to point out that there’s way more evidence to support putting Guess Who in the reboot timeline than in the regular timeline.

Hi Jaguaro, our original reasoning for putting Guess Who where it's at now is it was stated by one of the character designers for the show, Tracy Mark Lee, that it's an "unofficial sequel to The New Scooby-Doo Movies." You do make a good analogy however about Guess Who being to The New Scooby-Doo Movies as Where Are You is to Be Cool. I'm on board with moving it. I just sent an email to Dallas just to make sure he is okay with it as well before finalizing.

Dallas said he agreed with us, so I just rearranged Guess Who to be in the reboot timeline!

I’d just like to point out that you still have Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated at the top after A Pup despite it being in a separate timeline from every other piece of media except Beach Beastie. I don’t really understand the reasoning here as it just adds unneeded confusion that could he easily solved by moving it to the bottom as a separate reboot timeline

You're right, it appears we forgot to switch it. I just changed it. Thanks!

I think Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?, and the new Scooby movies (Straight Outta Nowhere: Scooby-Doo Meets Courage The Cowardly Dog; Scooby-Doo! The Sword And The Scoob; and SCOOB!) feels more like they're on the original timeline. So can I ask, why they got placed on the reboot timeline? I'm genuinely curious about what's the reason behind this decision :)

Hi! We originally had Guess Who in the reboot timeline until recently, but we changed it in January because someone suggested that Guess Who was a reboot of The New Scooby-Doo Movies similarly to how Be Cool is a reboot of Where Are You. You can see the exchange that led to us changing it a few comments up, on January 29. There are some continuity errors as well, such as Velma saying she didn't know Daphne had an uncle in "What a Night, for a Dark Knight!" when they met Uncle Maxwell in "Never Ape an Ape Man," plus them catching all those villains that they already caught in "One-Minute Mysteries."

I updated the timeline with Velma. Velma takes place in an alternate timeline that is unconnected to any of the other series (which becomes pretty obvious when you watch the show haha).

Under Scooby-Doo & Scrappy-Doo (The Richie Rich/Scooby-Doo Show) there is an episode 1.13: "Rocky Mountain Yiiiii!" Now i think that should go up the Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo because that series is missing it 13th episode unless somebody can explain why it is where it is

I think we initially put it there because it takes place in December, and since an episode close to it ("Chinese Food Factory") took place during Chinese New Year which is January, we just put them together. However, looking at our main spreadsheet on Google Docs, it looks like "Rocky Mountain Yiiiii!" was put with the rest of The Scooby and Scrappy-Doo Show episodes, so I moved it back. Thanks for pointing that out!

Here are a few things I did not see In the timeline witch I may have overlooked and they may be there there are a couple movies missing from your list that I thought I saw missing I may have overlooked them if so ignore this comment and have a nice day I noticed that Scooby Doo and the witches ghost is not on the list and that Scooby Doo and the Martians are not on there again you may have updated it and it's probably up there just thought I'd mention it

Hey Colin, both of those movies are on there. I assume you meant "Scooby-Doo and the Alien Invaders" instead of Scooby-Doo and the Martians, and if so, it's on there.

Hi it’s me again. I’ve made a discord server devoted to the scooby Doo timeline and I have a lot of questions about why you choose to place certain things in certain places. I was wondering if there was some way I could talk to you guys (wild wind and Dallas) that would be more convenient then this comment section. Something like email would work great. If not that’s also fine too thanks.
