Looks like I totally called it when I guessed in the weekly poll that we'd finally be getting the rest of Guess Who October 1, just not in the way I thought! According to Romper, the rest of Guess Who will be coming in October 1...except it's to HBO Max, and not to the Boomerang streaming service and app like we expected. Interestingly enough, this is exactly one year after we got the first half of Guess Who season 2 (October 1, 2020). In addition, Be Cool, Scooby-Doo! will be added to HBO Max, as well as 28 Scooby-Doo films. Cartoon Network is also celebrating Scoobtober this year, by premiering SCOOB! on their network on October 24 at 6:00pm (Eastern time), adding the same 28 new Scooby-Doo movies to their CN app (according to this Facebook post by Cartoon Network), and airing back-to-back Scooby-Doo films every Saturday morning at 9am (Eastern time).
Warner Brothers has been undergoing a merger with AT&T and DiscoveryMedia, which seems to be causing them to gravitate more towards HBO Max. I'm not really sure if they're just going to shut the Boomerang app down in favor of HBO Max, or if they'll still post these last 11 episodes on there for sake of completeness. I would presume that perhaps negotiations as to where to put the last 11 episodes (HBO Max or the Boomerang streaming service) is likely the reason behind why it took so long for them to air in the US. Thank you to James, Okraila and Thomas for letting me know about the Facebook post!

They added music that made the series a little more funkier than it actually is. LOL.

Considering the poster includes the Boomerang logo, that must mean something.

Could just be the TV channel

I'd noticed that too, but it could also just be the Boomerang channel like Becker said. I really do hope it means that they'll put them on the app, though.

They made the righ choice. No one cares about the Boomerang app. HBO Max is one of the top streaming services.

I'm sure the Boomerang app will be eventually phased out. For sake of completeness though, I do hope they'll add it to the Boomerang streaming service though since the other 41 are on there.

it's good that Guess who has made it's way to HBO Max. However The Boomerang app does has have HB shows like Richie Rich, The Flintstone Comedy Show, which HBO Max does not have. in addition to this Boomerang has all the Popeye cartoons from Famous Studios era, HBO Max does have Popeye cartoons from Famous Studios also but only the ones which were released on physical media and nothing beyond those episodes. it's true that Boomerang does stream/offer their content via amazon, but if Boomerang were to shutdown now then it is very possiable that their content would also vanish from amazon as a result since that content was mirrored from The Boomerang app to begin with. So I wouldn't dismiss the Boomerang app jut yet not unless they are planning to transfer all of their content to HBO Max in the near furure that is.

I know Amazon used to stream content through their own service, then eventually offered it through Boomerang, so I would assume they'd just go back to their own content if the Boomerang streaming service ended up shutting down. I think it's also possible they could start slowly transfer everything on the Boomerang streaming service over to HBO Max, and then shut it down once everything was over. I definitely am not counting the Boomerang app out yet though, but I do think it's possible that they could shut it down especially since they haven't updated it much recently.

I did a quick search of Netflix and I didn't get any results, so I think it's still removed. They removed it last year, I believe.

An 80s Aerobics special would be a groovy addition to Scoobtober

These episodes aren’t “new” anymore, sadly. They’ve been online for a while. Really hope we also get a trailer for the next DTV or Velma show and have a release date…

Yeah, the US has really been slacking in getting these out, as they aired in most other countries four months ago now. I hope we can get a trailer for the next DTV soon too! I imagine we'll get one in December or January of next year. A release date for Velma would be nice too.

yeah I also can't wait for a trailer for the scooby doo reunion special and I have feeling that it will come out very soon. 10/2/2021 06:22:49 pm
I hope we get it soon! We should, given it's supposedly coming out at the end of the year.

Good for you, can we at least agree we'd rather have it on one streaming service not spread among like 5? (3 that I know of) 10/2/2021 09:19:07 am
I wish they'd put it on DVD too, just so people who wanted it had the option. As I've mentioned before, I prefer having physical copies of things anyway so I hope they release a season set of this like they did with Guess Who season 1 earlier this year.

I've gotten like 2 free months to streaming services now, one was Disney+ and the other is Paramount+ they're not bad but I dislike feeling like I'm being forced to watch things cause they have me on their schedule (oh I got this better watch this stuff now while I have the chance!) and I just find it burns me out. Much prefer having things on DVD and watching at my pace

I have Disney+, never had Paramount+ though. And I totally get what you mean. Streaming services have the power to remove anything they want at any time they want, either because of rights issues or they want to make room for new content or whatever. It's much nicer to just watch what you want when you want without having to worry about it being suddenly removed. Leave a Reply. |
