Given the big news last week, I thought it might be fun to have a poll on what people think Trick or Treat, Scooby-Doo is!
Here are the results for last week's poll. I'm shocked Laff a Lympics and Get a Clue got votes, whereas The New Scooby-Doo Movies and A Pup Named Scooby-Doo got nothing! What is your favorite Scooby-Doo premiere episode? What a Night for a Knight - 23 Beware the Beast from Below - 20 Mystery 101 - 10 There's No Creature Like Snow Creature - 6 High Rise Hair Raiser - 6 Happy Birthday, Scooby-Doo - 5 To All the Ghouls I've Loved Before - 3 Revenge of the Swamp Monster! - 3 Scooby Ghosts West - 2 Swiss Alps and Tokyo - 1 Shags to Riches - 1 The Scarab Lives - 1 Hound of the Scoobyvilles - 1 Ghastly Ghost Town - 0 Maltese Mackerel - 0 A Bicycle Built for Boo - 0

I'm saying series because it's bunched up with other series on the poster

Just because it's bunched up with other series on the poster doesn't necessarily mean it is a series. The thing to keep in mind is that the Tweety Mysteries and Bugs Bunny Builders were both mentioned in a Press Release in February, So for all we know production for this May have been done earlier then we think but may have been revealed to the public just now. I have seeen quite a bit of drawings for both Hamster & Gretel and Bugs Bunny Builders in several places and each of them resemble the same art shown in that poster, which is why i think this a Guess Who special considering what kind of art is shown on that poster.

I don't think so

I think the art is just a place holder, because that is promotional art for Guess Who. I'm guessing a series that's early in development 8/30/2021 08:41:08 am
That's what I was leaning towards as well, though I also think it's possible that it's a mini-series which is what I ultimately ended up going with. I was kind of also thinking that the Guess Who art was just a placeholder, but I suppose perhaps it's possible it's a "lost" special of sorts. I'd be surprised if that were the case though.

Can't be a film we just got another Halloween film last year, doubt it's a special cause they stopped doing those years ago, I've also noticed a pattern where nowadays a new Scooby series comes out every 2 or 3 years and is usually announced or hinted at the year before so I doubt it's a series either but there is nothing that confirms that it isn't a miniseries so I'm saying miniseries.

I know...... But why would it be halloween themed when it's set in a studio or something... 8/30/2021 08:44:07 am
I agree with your logic. It makes most sense to have it be a mini-series, given they just did a Halloween film last year. I suppose it could be a special, but I do think it would be odd to have it be the reunion special be called "Trick or Treat" given, like you said, it's set in a studio. I'd be all for it though if they could find some creative way to make it work!

A mini series would be a good idea as it’s something they have never done before.

I would say it’s a 20 minute Halloween one off special. Plot twist. It won’t go to dvd either but be on some streaming platform.

I could honestly see that happening. It would be a great way to promote whatever streaming platform they put it on (whether it be Boomerang or HBO Max).

Velma is gonna be on HBO Max, right? I think it would only make sense to put more upcoming Scooby projects (series, miniseries, specials, even movies) on there. The Reunion Special could be another one for HBO 8/30/2021 02:40:45 pm
Yeah, Velma will be on HBO Max. I totally agree it makes sense for them to put other Scooby projects on there as well. I wonder if that means the Boomerang streaming service/app will become obsolete at some point.

I’ll say miniseries out of hope

I also am hoping for a miniseries. I think it would be really fun to have a short series with an overarching plot focused on one night (or the nights leading up to Halloween).

Why do you doubt it? if the other two shows are indeed using the same art, shown in that poster and from other drawings shown elsewhere (note that i say if) then why woudn't this us the same art from Guess who? Not every finished prodution is revealed to the public immediately you know. Some things are kept up under the wrap for months even years sometimes without being revealed to others.

I suppose it's equally possible that they may or may not use the Guess Who art. If it's a film, the DTVs after 2003 adapted the WNSD animation, so I guess it's possible they'd do the same with Guess Who for a few DTVs.

I rather doubt it is a a place holder, since I am fairly certain Hamster & Gretel and Bugs Bunny Builders will most likey use the same art for their shows shown their. They are are quite a bit of drawings of the same art, for those posted in several places which suggest this will be the case. Hence I think it would be a bit odd for it to turn to be a place holder for a single cartoon to be show in a poster and the others shown their not.

Yeah but it says production NOW ongoing which means the shows could be at different stages of development and it could be place holder art

Yes, it could be place holder art for Trick or Treat, Scooby-Doo it could have nothing to do with Guess Who but it could still be a special of it's own. But I think the phrase production is now ongoing should be taken with a grain of salt. Since this could have been done earlier without the public knowing about this. I am fairly certain development for the other two series shown their have been underway for quite a bit of period now, Posters and trailers of shows and movies are nothing but teasers. Certain finished projects have been know to be under the wraps and not revealed to the public for a long period you know. 8/30/2021 08:51:16 am
I think at this point, anything's possible. I personally don't think they will use the Guess Who animation for this, but as you said the other two series in the poster use their respective art, so it's possible that this series will also use the Guess Who animation.

I think it's very early in development and haven't settled on an art style yet, so they just put the Guess Who models on the poster. That sounds the most logical to me

It would be fun if they revived the specials again! Other than this upcoming reunion special, we haven't had one since 2015.

Honestly surprised SDMI placed so high on this list... I mean, it's not a bad episode, and what it leads to is great, but I felt the early SDMI episodes were pretty clunky and only got good around episode 7.

I wouldn't say I'm surprised. I agree that some of the first episodes of SDMI were a bit clunky writing wise, but I thought this first one was pretty amazing at setting up the show and hinting at the overarching plot that was to come.

That would certainly be interesting! If it's something related to Guess Who, perhaps Elvira would be the guest star again.
