For this poll, I defined "recurring character" as a non-guest star character who either appears across multiple Scooby series or films, or appears at least three times in the same series with a major role. I just included the main recurring characters for Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated to keep the scope of this poll manageable. I have a feeling I know which option is going to win though haha.
Here are the results from last week's poll: What is your favorite Scooby-Doo series finale? Come Undone - 36 Professor Huh? Part 6 ¾- 11 Don't Fool with a Phantom - 7 The Movieland Monsters! - 6 E-Scream - 4 The Beast is Awake in Bottomless Lake - 4 The Haunted Carnival - 3 Wedding Bell Boos - 3 The Nutcracker Scoob - 3 Uncle Albert Alert - 3 Scooby-Doo and the Curse of the 13th Ghost - 1 Siam and the Moon - 0 The Ransom of Scooby Chief - 0 Tenderbigfoot - 0 Bride and Gloom - 0 Horror Scope Scoob - 0 The Wrath of Waitro - 0

There are so many good ones. In the end, I went with Red Herring. It’s funny when bad things happen to him.

Also what about other characters like Jenkins, Elliot Bender, Melbourne O Riley, Rick Spartan, Cachinga, Dr. Oswald, etc.

Most of those characters don’t pass the limit of having at least three episodes, but Jenkins is definitely an oversight I’d say

Yah I guess your right but remember Del Chillman only had two appearances: Loch Ness Monster and Chill Out.

Hmm not sure then. Maybe he was just a big enough deal to count 8/16/2021 06:09:39 pm
Sorry I wasn't here to answer questions yesterday. You're right that I forgot Jenkins, and I will add him as an option. I felt like Del was just a big enough deal to count since he was in two separate films, even though you're right that it breaks the rule of three appearances.

It’s hard to choose but my top 2 are Angel and the secret six. Angel was a really cool friend; even though she did lie to them she regretted her actions and worked to make things right. And the secret six puppies were just so adorable and clever.

Is Scrappy considered a main or recurring character? I guess semi-regular is the best word, so I can see why he's not included, though I would. However, Scooby-Dum, Batman, Robin, Joker, Dynomutt & Blue Falcon, Jenkins, Yabba Doo, Dr Phibes, Robi, Trebla, Shaggy's Uncle, Agents 1 & 2, etc I would include as recurring characters.

I didn't include him since I would consider him a main character, given that he appears in every episode of six different series in a starring role. I purposefully also didn't include relatives in this since there's already been a poll on them, so that was why Yabba, Scooby-Dum and Uncle Albert weren't included (and further justification for not including Scrappy). You're right that I missed the Get a Clue ones. I'll add those as options. I always felt Batman, Robin, the Joker, and Dynomutt and Blue Falcon were more guest stars than recurring characters, though I'm not opposed to adding them if others feel I should.

I’ve been thinking about it and I am down to a few: Red Herring, Vincent Van Ghoul, Sheriff Bronson Stone, Mayor Jones, The Hex Girls, or Gibby Norton. Hex Girls are gonna win I’d say but I’ll go Red Herring. He was a key joke in a series that lived off of jokes

It was definitely really hard for me to choose for this question as well, even though I'm the one who chose it haha. I love Red Herring as well for how key he was to Pup (and I love all the ones you listed for that matter), but I'm going to have to go with the Hex Girls just because of how iconic and cool they are as characters.

Vincent Van Ghoul is my favorite I never get enought of him they are so many great things about him. My least favorite is Professor Pericles I am very glad he got his just desserts in the series final of mytery incorporated.

Why because of how pure evil his character was?

I love Vincent Van Ghoul as well! I'd also be interested to know why you hate Pericles so much.

I hate Pericles due him to being a real evil character I didn't like the fact that he was pure evil.

It took me a while to decide. There's too many great ones. I ultimately landed on Red Herring, he's the funniest one and maybe the best running gag in A Pup. I hope they bring him back in something and have an actual role, not just a cameo.

That would be cool to have him brought back! Would you care if he was brought back as an adult, or would you only want it if the gang and him were still kids?

I'd love for Red Herring to return as a teen, of the gang's age, in the same high school year. Seeing the dynamics between him and Fred as they've gotten older would be really interesting. I wish Red was in SDMI, taking over/replacing either Ethan or Gary, that would've been perfect! 8/19/2021 09:30:00 am
That would be fun! We do see someone who looks a lot like Red at the hockey game in "Where Walks Aphrodite," and I wish he could have appeared more than that brief little cameo. I don't think he'd even need to replace Ethan and Gary, perhaps he could be a third friend of theirs or just been his own separate character that didn't interact with Gary or Ethan.

You forgot to include "The Beast is Awake in the Bottom of the Lake" in the results

Thank you so much for pointing that out! That's really weird and I apologize to anyone who voted for it that I missed it. It got 4 votes.

I would say my favorite version of the Hex Girls is in Witch's Ghost. It felt like their characters got the most development in that film.
