Just a little note on this one, while most of these are self-explanatory, the following is what I was envisioning for the content on these sets (though I guess you can interpret it how you want!). The New Scooby-Doo Movies Complete Collection would essentially feature all the episodes on the "Almost" Complete Collection, though this set would include the unreleased Addams Family too. This poll is purely a fun, opinion-based question, so you don't need to avoid this option just because WB doesn't currently own the rights to the Addams Family episode. Laff-A-Lympics: The Complete Collection #2 would feature all the season 2 episodes. WB renamed Spooky Games to the "Complete Collection #1" on their site, which is where I got this name. I guess you could go either way on whether to include those 4 that weren't on Spooky Games (but released on the original two volumes). The Richie Rich / Scooby-Doo Hour Volume 2 would feature the remaining 13 episodes of the series that weren't released on volume 1, so episodes 8-20. Guess Who Season 1 would just feature the first 13 episodes of season 1, even though it's a bit unclear as to whether episodes 14-26 are part of season 1 or 2 at the moment (though I'm minded to believe the former). Scooby-Doo: The Complete Cartoon Network Specials Collection would feature the 8 "Those Meddling Kids" behind-the-scenes interviews, The Scooby-Doo Project, and Night of the Living Doo. I guess I wouldn't count Bravo Dooby Doo, which is a crossover that officially belongs to the Johnny Bravo series, as an episode on this set, but you could if you wanted.
Here are the results from last week's poll, and we seem to have a tie! What is your favorite 1980s Scooby-Doo film? Boo Brothers - 23 Ghoul School - 23 Reluctant Werewolf - 7

I'm talking about the Cartoon network specials. I think WB will never release them so i voted the specials 1/27/2020 06:33:07 pm
Gotcha. Yeah, I don't think they'll ever be released either, but from a completist standpoint I'd really like them to be!

I submitted my vote but honestly I want ALL of them. I'm one of those obsessive collector types that needs to complete sets regardless of expense or difficulty.

Haha, I feel that! I would honestly vote The New Scooby-Doo Mysteries, as I feel there are some good episodes in there! That's interesting to know that Scooby is the most incomplete, but I'm glad that Scooby is at least not the only big franchise with holes in its releases.

Huh, interesting. I can't begin to imagine what the rationale for releasing so many random episodes (like 1 new episode per DVD set) is, other than sucking the consumer dry of their money. I would love if they rolled out a big unreleased season set to align with SCOOB!, but I'm not counting on it. They released those New Scooby-Doo Movies eps that we thought would never see the light of day for the 50th anniversary though, so you never know!

This does suck, but I don't feel it's entirely on the consumer. The average consumer doesn't understand rights issues or upgrading something to make it work on dvd. I think manufacturers split the market even more by trying to make Blu Ray huge, a lot of people just never bothered to upgrade but the fights from people over whether to have a show on DVD or Blu-Ray have probably made more wait for a later edition (I know it has for me Re: Steven Universe). There are also those that probably wait for prices to go down or for a show to be complete after being burned too many times in the past (Gunsmoke, Murphy Brown, etc.) 1/26/2020 10:20:04 pm
Oh, no, I was just saying that it was on WB's perception of the consumer, not the consumer themselves. I think WB's DVD releases are only of material deemed "safe" so that they will get a huge amount of profit no matter what, whereas some people may avoid some of the Scrappy series, Get A Clue and Laff-a-Lympics because it's not "real Scooby."

My comment wasn't directed at you directly Wildwind, was trying to reply to Grey's comment actually. I do agree though for the numbers, and I hate to say it but I couldn't really care if Get a Clue ever finishes on DVD, the episodes included on the 13 spooky tales dvd's seemed kinda dull.

Yeah, I guess I don't blame people for not wanting certain episodes on DVD, even though I personally like Get A Clue. From a completist standpoint, I hope that they do release every episode of Scooby on DVD at some point I would say a combination of both caused BCSD season 2 not to be released to DVD.

Looking at my collection with an eye to the economics, it is interesting that the most completely released (on DVD) franchises are the two with the most organized and vocal fanbases. Star Trek is totally complete minus only the currently airing Picard show and Star Wars is only missing complete season releases of the two non-canon shows Ewoks and Droids from the 80s.

I don't know if I've said this before, but I'm really sorry that the site for some reason likes to mark all your comments as spam and not publish them. It's happened for your comments at least 10 times, and I have to manually publish them, yet it doesn't mark actual spam comments as spam. Very strange!

Looks at this list. Yikes what a load of garbage, no wonder they haven't released any of this lot. BCSD second season for me seemed the only logical choice.

Even The Scooby-Doo Show and The New Scooby-Doo Movies are ones you wouldn't want released?

Although I love the Wednesday Addams episode, wouldn't fork out more money after getting the nearly complete collection, especially as the episodes have been chopped over time, the series will never be complete. Those 8 episodes are all very good and although it would be nice to have them on dvd, not sure I'm overly fussed 1/27/2020 06:33:58 pm
I respectfully disagree, but admit that I have a strong desire for everything in the franchise to be complete to have a truly complete Scooby-Doo collection.

Fair, enough, I agree, now if Warner bros were to turn around and say we've found the original uncut New Scooby Doo Movies I'd buy that in a heartbeat as I'd love to see what has been missing these last 20-30 years. 1/28/2020 08:08:28 am
It's interesting to me that they did choose to permanently cut those scenes. Surely it would make more sense to just have a separate cut copy for syndication, then keep the master copy uncut?

I voted for The New Scooby-Doo Mysteries... but honestly, I’d like them to release everything. Especially also The Scooby-Doo Show Season 2. I’m still baffled why that hasn’t been released on DVD in completion.

I would honestly love to see them release everything too, which I know that's why this is a hard question. I was curious though if there was a specific series most sought after by Scooby fans for the next big DVD release. I don't understand why they haven't released season 2 of The Scooby-Doo Show either.

Like someone said earlier, I think if we will get any more classic series on dvd then it will be to coincide with the cinema release of SCOOB. So we can only hope until then. But I think it’s down to lack of sales. They look at numbers, not fan demand. Scooby and scrappy “season one” paved the potential way for the rest but it never happened. Richie rich and Scooby “volume 1” paved the way for more. This was five years ago and we never got another set. I think only the 2 or 3 films they churn out every year make money. Or else these would have stopped years ago.

I really hope so! Though friendly correction, the Richie Rich Hour Vol. 1 was actually released in 2008...so it's been 12 years we've been waiting for volume 2!

Wow! I can’t believe it’s been even longer than I first thought. Time flies! 1/29/2020 01:58:46 pm
It is crazy! I wonder if they will ever release the rest of the Richie Rich episodes either.

For me it's an easy choice. The Scooby Doo Show season 2. Even though I really like BCSD and The New Mysteries/New S&SD Show. The New Movies only needs one more episode to be released, so it's not a big deal

This baffles me as to why it hasn't been released. Between rights and possible poor sales, all the others that haven't been released make sense. There should be nothing controversial about The Scooby-Doo Show season 2 though, so I'm not sure why they haven't released it.

It is very strange that they've released 1 and 3 of that... even stranger that they keep saying the 3rd season is part of Where are you. 1/27/2020 07:10:31 pm
That frustrates me too, and people seem to believe it. There's a rumor I've seen going around that the season was actually an attempted "revival" of Where Are You, which seems doubtful given it doesn't use the Where Are You intro. Leave a Reply. |
