While I like Nick Palatas' Shaggy, and he probably gives the best portrayal in those films out of the whole cast, I gotta go with Matthew Lillard. If there's one amazing thing about those Scooby Doo live action movies (and it is actually just one), it's Matthew Lillard's performance as Shaggy. I can't see anybody who would do a better job than him. It's like Shelley Duvall as Olive Oyl, you can't cast someone better than that for the role. He was born to play Shaggy, hence why he still does to this day, except it's through voice acting now. It's clear why he was brought back and transitioned from live-action to voice acting. You can see the Shaggy-isms in him in Scream, 13 Ghosts, SLC Punk and others. Perfect casting choice, and it proved to be so considering the outcome. People were mad af when it was announced that he wouldn't be playing Shaggy in Scoob, even more so than Frank Welker not as Fred.

Totally agree that Matthew Lillard is the best out of them, but I certainly love Nick Palatas's Shaggy as well. I would be interested in knowing if Lillard ever steps down, if people would think Nick Palatas would be an acceptable replacement (or maybe they'd go with Scott Innes, IDK). That is really cool about them all being in horror movies before this! I'm just planning on doing the human members for this week of polls, since Scooby's live-action counterparts are still voice actors.

I like Nick Palatas, but I don't think they'd get him back. I'm pretty sure Scott Innes would be brought back, considering he's now pretty much a stand-in for Scooby's and Shaggy's voices in smaller stuff. 5/12/2020 11:20:33 am
I'd doubt it too, like you said Scott Innes still actively plays Shaggy in some commercials so he'd probably be their go-to-guy.

Matthew Lillard and Nick Palatas' portrayals was honestly perfect. Matthew as adult Shaggy and Nick as teenage Shaggy. But Matthew is still going on as Shaggy as a voice actor. I wouldn't mind if Nick Palatas came back as Shaggy.

I totally agree about them both being perfect for different roles! I honestly wouldn't mind having Nick Palatas voice Shaggy either if Lillard stepped down someday.
