This week's poll question is one that I know everybody's been on the edge of their seats waiting for: what is your favorite monkey episode? haha This can include any primate that is a villain, be it a monkey, ape or gorilla. Monkeys that were not villains do not qualify for this poll (Ngogi from "Ghastly Ghost Town" probably would have gotten my vote if it did qualify, tbh...I just think he's so cute lol).
Here are the results from last week's poll. I expected "Go Away Ghost Ship" to win, but it ended up tying with Pirates Ahoy for the win, even with 12 votes! What is your favorite episode set on a ship? Go Away Ghost Ship - 12 Scooby-Doo! Pirates Ahoy - 12 The Haunted Showboat - 6 Scooby-Doo, Where's the Crew? - 6 Creepy Cruise - 5 All Paws on Deck - 4 Ship of Ghouls - 3 Cher, Scooby, and the Sargasso Sea! - 3 Shiver and Shake, That Demon's a Snake - 2 Stow Aways - 2 The Ghostly Creep from the Deep - 1 Soggy Bog Scooby - 1 Showboat Scooby - 0 Cruisin' for a Bruisin' - 0

Night of the Upsetting Shorts is one of the best BCSD episodes, but the ape is admittedly one of the last things that comes to mind from it. Never Ape an Ape Man is one of the weakest SDWAY episodes, but still a classic. It's between Boo Brothers and No Faced Zombie Chase Case, which is weird cuz neither have a monkey as the main antagonist per se. I'll go with the latter, since it's one of the most entertaining episodes ever and the gorilla leaves more of an impact than in Boo Brothers. Oh, and the other half of the list is dogshit.

Yeah, I had the same issue with "Night of the Upsetting Shorts." It's one of my favorite Be Cool episodes as well, but the comedy and Shaggy/Daphne stuff that comes to mind way more than the ape imo.

Yeah, I'll admit the biggest reason why the episode is so high is the Shaggy/Daphne side of it. And "Knock it off, Blake!" is one of the best line deliveries in the entire franchise lmao

This, just this. The only addition I can have is both gorillas leave a lasting impression for me, Boo Brothers though is more on comedic value.

At first I was going to argue against Scooby Doo 2000 being called dogshit, but then I realized that I have literally zero argument against that

9. Scooby of the Jungle - this is one of the worst episodes of the Scrappy era for a number of reasons, so easy last place pick here.

Never Ape for me. The apeman in that was was creepy and scary.

Ape Men are probably my least favorite type of Scooby villain for whatever reason, but if we were solely ranking Ape Men, this one is easily the best Ape Man design.

1) Yeah I've never considered the gorilla to be a negative. It just brings another element of fun.

Exactly. Given what the episode is and what it is going for, I feel the gorilla fits really well. It wouldn't have worked as well if it was like some New Scooby Doo Movies style hooded man or something, it had to be something as outrageously random as a gorilla 12/10/2023 12:42:51 pm
7. Glad I'm not the only one who appreciated it lol.

5. I am very scared! In fact, I believe that the rapidly advancing AI technology worries me to the point where by 2043, giant toy apes will rule the world. 12/10/2023 05:17:29 pm
5. I have the same fear. In fact, I had this theory for a while now that AI actually stands for Ape Invasion! lol

5. Hold on, let me get my tin foil hat out real quick before I say this. I think you may be onto something. May I even dare say that those NFTs, that were pictures of apes that were popular for like two weeks, were even warning us of this invasion 12/11/2023 09:32:10 am
5. Indeed, it was clearly a carefully-calculated test to see if apes could control the economy. Even more frightening is that going by the Chinese Zodiac Calendar, 2040 is the Year of the Monkey. Clearly that's when they plan to start the invasion.

5. This is very alarming! I need to find someone obsessed with zombie apocalypses so I can use their resources to prepare for the true threat in this invasion!

This list contains what happens when a dog gets into their owners diarrhoea tablets but also two absolute gems in Boo Brothers and the No face Zombie Chase that are very difficult to separate for different reasons. Boo Brothers the escaped gorilla adds a lot of comedic value whereas the gorilla in no face is much more serious but adds to the downright craziness of the episode and I'd go as far as saying it is probably the most bizarre episode ever in the Scooby franchise. This for me is why it just edged the former.

Lol! Yeah, Scooby was definitely not the strongest when it came to Ape Man (or monkey-related) episodes.

So you're not counting Space Ape at the Cape. The monkey in that ep did play the monster at one point.

I hadn't thought of that, but sure, we can count it. That would also make "The Hodag of Horror" eligible.
