Huh, I think ScoobySnax needs a map, either that or Washington is now the capital of Mexico.

You hadn't heard about them switching Washington D.C. to be the capital of Mexico? They switched it around recently so now Mexico City is the capital of the US while D.C. is the capital of Mexico, it was one of those exchange program type things lol.

Lol that was my bad, I'd been researching several different locations because someone suggested doing "around the world" polls, and I accidentally included that one on the wrong list. I removed it now, thanks for the heads up on that!

No worries, it did amuse me. Nothing really stood out on this list so just went for South America and Transylvania, because why not, something different.

I don't remember a lot about that episode but I remember it being the more entertaining one because of the antics in Transylvania.

Glad to see the US and Mexico make a trade that benefitted both. Well “benefitted” is a stretch, but still LOL

The options this week are made up of weaker episodes. I'll go with Scooby's Bull Fright.

Scooby and Doo and The Monster of Mexico takes the cake. The places they visited, the monsters, their interaction with the Oteros. This one will clearly be the winner.

I haven't, but that's a great idea! I quick looked it up on Scoobypedia and it shows there are seven episodes taking place in New York. Thank you for the suggestion!

The Fiesta Host is an Aztec Ghost:
I enjoyed this episode. The Ghost of King Katezuma and The Stone Creature were both great villains. I liked that Katezuma can switch from giant size to regular size. The Stone Creature coming into the hotel and scaring Shaggy and Scooby was creepy.

Professor Stonehack and his wife Eliana as the culprits were pretty obvious.

The ending was nice with the fiesta happening and the gang being congratulated for solving the mystery and saving the treasures.

Shaggy and Scooby making the world biggest burrito with a table cloth was funny.

I liked this episode a lot too! I really liked both the villains, and Katazuma's ability to change sizes (although I thought the 50-foot version of him was much scarier). I agree the culprits were pretty obvious. The burrito thing was funny, although it's kinda gross they ate the tablecloth too lol.

Jeepers It’s The Jaguaro:
I enjoyed this episode. The Jaguaro was a great and creative villain. It has the body of a great ape and the head of a saber tooth tiger. It roaring sound was pretty scary.

The headhunters were a good addition to this episode.

I enjoyed Shaggy and Scooby’s jungle antics, especially Scooby with those apes.

Barney as the culprit and Luis as his partner were pretty obvious.

The ending was funny with the gang at the Carnival of Rio with those gorillas.

My least favorite Scooby-Doo Show episode. I felt the plot was pretty thin, and I didn't love the villain. I liked the Jaguaro's design, but his roar sounded more silly than scary to me. I agree the culprits were obvious. The gorillas being a part of the party at the end was amusing haha.

Don’t Go Near The Fortress of Fear:
I enjoyed this episode. Even though not appearing very ghost like at all, the Ghost of General Juan Carlos was still a great villain.

It was pretty unique that Shaggy and Scooby were hiding the ghost mystery from Fred, Daphne and Velma.

The mystery itself was pretty good. The innkeeper was suspicious and the guy following them made it felt like they were behind it.

The guy following them is actually Inspector Armandez investigating the missing treasures.

Captain Eddy was the culprit. I liked how he smuggled the treasure but using hallow cannon balls, firing them from the cannon and with the parachutes from the balls would land on his boat.

I liked this episode too! Juan Carlos was a good villain even though he looked like a regular guy. I really liked the twist of Shaggy and Scooby hiding the mystery from the rest of the gang! I didn't guess that it was Captain Eddy, but his plan was very unique.

Darn it! I really wanted to rank Morocco and Washington DC lol. Spain is technically not Latin America as it is in Europe so I am not including Spain/Himalayas

14. Ghastly Goals- Flat out awful. There is no excuse for the animation to be this lackluster in this era of Scooby Doo, and it was still terrible beyond that

13. Mark Of Scooby- I was heavily debating between which of this one and the next one to put at 13, but while I think the next episode is a trainwreck, I do feel there is more of a reason to come back to that one than this one, which is one of the worst episodes of the NS&SDS

12. Jeepers It’s the Jaguaro!- At least it got a shoutout in Cyber Chase? Look, I really like the Scooby Doo Show but this is a terrible episode. This shitshow is bad enough to where it is now my least favorite of the series, which really tells you something about how bad the two below this one must be

11. Scooby’s Bull Fright- It’s a Scrappy short, and one that is above an episode of The Scooby Doo Show. What a strange poll

10. Dinosaur Deception- Okay, I have a little more to work with this one at least? It’s okay I guess. Pretty mid for this series but I can watch it and at least semi enjoy it

9. South America and Transylvania- As Wildwind said above, I just kinda feel like the better segment of this episode is Transylvania which isn’t even in Latin America. I still enjoy the South America part, but it would be higher probably if it weren’t for that

8. Fast and the Wormious- Despite how terribly the list started, we have a solid top 8. While this one is humorous, I wouldn’t call it a top What’s New episode but it doesn’t really need to be to still be pretty good

7. Dark Night of the Hunters- A solid set-up episode for what is basically a three episode finale

6. Don’t Go Near the Fortress of Fear- I am not the biggest fan around here of TSDS season 3, but I actually think this one gets very overlooked. I’ll give y’all that the villain just looks like an elderly man who is LARPing, but other than that, I believe this episode is pretty well done. I like it

5. El Bandito- Great episode from Be Cool. Once again, not the best of the series, but still good

4. Twenty Thousand Screams Under the Sea- I enjoy season 1 of Scrappy a lot (with one big exception of course) and this is another fun one

3. 3-D Struction- Costa Rica is a very unique setting so I appreciate that. It is another very good What’s New episodes without being one of the best imo

2. The Fiesta Host is an Aztec Ghost- 8 through 2 are all shockingly close for me. None of them are my favorites or anything but I think they are all pretty good. This is just the first episode I think of when it comes to Latin America so it gets the nod here

1. Monster of Mexico- Despite the naysayers, I really like this movie and it has a lot of nostalgia for me. This isn’t like the greatest winner of a poll for me or anything, but I feel comfortable putting this as my choice

I included Spain just because it's a Spanish speaking country and I thought some people might ask for its inclusion, so I just put it here even though I also won't rank it for the same reason as you.

14. Ghastly Goals - one of the worst episodes in the franchise for its "Scooby's Fun House" level of poor animation.

13. The Mark of Scooby - I also debated for a moment about whether to put Jaguaro before this, but Jaguaro at least has some redeemable qualities, which I can't say about this awful fever dream lol.

12. Scooby's Bull Fright - actually, come to think of it, this is also below Jaguaro. I'd definitely choose to watch Jaguaro over this.

11. Jeepers It's the Jaguaro - my least favorite episode of The Scooby-Doo Show. The plot is incredibly thin and is the episode that suffers the most from the antics-heavy nature of season 3 IMO.

10. The Dinosaur Deception - agreed with your thoughts. Not a great episode or villain, but it's at least somewhat enjoyable.

9. South America and Transylvania - one of my favorite Laff-a-Lympics episodes for the Transylvania part. The South America part is good as well.

8. Twenty Thousand Screams Under the Sea - now we're getting to the great episodes. I wouldn't put this among my favorites of the first season of Scrappy, but this is still very good.

7. El Bandito - a great Be Cool episode! I really like the villain.

6. Dark Night of the Hunters - this isn't the most memorable of the SDMI episodes, but it's still a great episode! The Priestess was a very creepy villain.

5. The Fast and the Wormious - I enjoy this episode for how weird it is with the villain and the underground worm people. Excellent episode.

4. Don't Go Near the Fortress of Fear - Lol, imagining the Ghost of Juan Carlos as a "elderly man LARPing" would make the premise of this episode very amusing haha. I like the ghost even if he looks like a human, but it doesn't really bother me because the setting and atmosphere are otherwise excellent. I like the twist of Shaggy and Scooby hiding the mystery from Fred, Velma and Daphne.

3. The Fiesta Host Is An Aztec Ghost - definitely one of the first episodes that comes to mind for Latin America for me as well, and I really like both villains. My 2 slightly edges it out, though.

2. 3-D Struction - I love how unique this episode is with the museum setting, which is what gets it a slight nudge ahead of "The Fiesta Host Is an Aztec Ghost."

1. Monster of Mexico - the first piece of Scooby media that comes to mind for me for Latin America. The film has a lot of nostalgia for me as well.

No one with any geographical knowledge would ask for that episode. Spain shouldn't be on this poll about Latin America, it's just factually incorrect.

Matt
8/20/2023 08:49:53 pm

14. I feel like Scooby’s Fun Zone has more of an excuse (but still not much of one, that background was unacceptable) because of the time it was made, Ghastly Goals has ZERO excuse lol

12/11. I debated heavily whether to put one ahead of the other as well. It’s kind of a tricky one because there is more outrageously awful about Jaguaro, but also more worth going back to

4. It’s funny because it’s true. It’s what he looks like. It doesn’t bother me because the episode itself is so under appreciated though. It is one of the least acclaimed and most forgotten episodes of that season, but I would probably put it above average for the season, some unique plot ideas (like how they hid the mystery) and a unique plan

@Becker- I don’t really care much because I can easily just ignore a very unlikely winner anyway, but I do agree I don’t think it should be included. Although it does remind me how odd it is that there is only 1 episode in Spain and it is a Laff A Lympics episode

WildwindVampire link
8/20/2023 08:55:44 pm

14. Agreed lol.

4. Yeah, it's definitely underappreciated it's one of the few episodes not to fall victim to the same antics-heaviness as many other season 3 episodes (although I guess there is a little, but it doesn't feel distracting like in some episodes). I agree the plan was one of the most unique of the season, especially considering there are a few episodes where the trap feels haphazardly thrown together.

A quick skim through the results doesn't show that anybody's voted it. I'll just remove it as an option as I honestly don't care whether or not it's included, I'd just kept it as it was a Spanish-speaking country but I agree with you both that in hindsight, it doesn't fit the question.

Becker
8/21/2023 03:22:11 am

I genuinely think Don't Go Near the Fortress of Fear would've been way more liked if it had a great villain. It's not in my upper half of the TSDS S3 episodes, and I admit this is one of the main reasons why.

WildwindVampire link
8/21/2023 06:28:26 am

Agreed, he's definitely one of the weaker villains of the season even if it is a great episode IMO.

Becker
8/21/2023 07:58:55 am

I think he's the worst villain of TSDS. If he was at least good, not even great, the episode would be held in much higher regard. But as it stands it's an ignored episode compared to most of TSDS.

WildwindVampire link
8/21/2023 08:39:29 am

He's my least favorite too, unless you count the talking bull in "A Bum Steer for Scooby" lol. The Medicine Man and Jaguaro are close, although both had good designs but sounded goofy and not at all scary.

Matt
8/21/2023 06:55:25 pm

I don't think he is worse than Jaguaro or the talking bull myself lol. Juan Carlos may look like an elderly man LARPing, but I would at least be somewhat threatened by him. I'd probably laugh in the Talking bull and Jaguaro's faces (especially after Jaguaro's ridiculous scream lol). And I'd also probably laugh at Anthos with his outfit. Juan Carlos is a lame design, but I don't think he is the very worst

WildwindVampire link
8/21/2023 10:04:22 pm

Anthos is close to worse for me, although I'd say Talking Bull is my least favorite followed by Juan Carlos, but it's very close. Both of them look kinda goofy. The Jaguaro at least has a good design IMO even if his laugh is ridiculous, which bumps him up a little for me.

Matt
8/22/2023 08:54:13 pm

A smaller complaint I have with Jaguaro is that he changed size? Like he was GIANT at the beginning of the episode, and then is the size of a man all of the sudden?

El Bandito is my personal win at least!

My online best friend's overarching Scooby-Doo fan series (reminiscent of MI) wraps up this week, its been in progress for two years, and he's been through a lot lately and the pressure's kinda on him he feels to make something good, though I know it'll be great. So I decided to whisk something up and low and behold, I managed to get a Cameo from Scott Innes basically congratulating him for finishing the series and even saying that HE wants to read it, which was wild for the both of us. Okraila (the dude it was for) went ballistic, it was just great. Just a fun anecdote about something that happened yesterday! 100% recommended

The Dinosaur Deception:
I enjoyed this episode. I liked the dinosaur as a villain. Dr. La Rue as the culprit was obvious. The ending was cute with Scooby sitting on the dinosaur egg, it hatched and a baby dinosaur came out and it called Scooby his mommy.

This episode and 3-D Struction are similar to each other. Both episode takes place in a Spanish place, both involve culprits who us a dinosaur as a villain which turn out to be robots and are mining valuable stuff for themselves.

Dark Night of The Hunters:
I really enjoyed this episode. The Mayan Priestess was great, creepy and scary villain. I liked that she can control vines. Like seriously, when I first saw this episode she scared the crap out of me. It’s her laugh man.

I liked that Velma’s mom Angie Dinkley was a part of this episode and we learn about her background of living in the Yucatán.

I liked the scene in the temple where Fred knew all about those traps and how to avoid them.

Professor Enrique Androlessa was the culprit. His motive was sweet. He did it to see if Angie Dinkley still loved him.

I thought the lady following them was a spy from the original mystery incorporated but was actually Lt. Tomina Kasanski who’s an old pilot friend of Mayor Janet Nettles.

In this episode they obtained the heart of the Jaguar and are ready to destroy the Evil Entity with it.

This wasn't one of the most memorable SDMI episodes but it is still a very good one. The Priestess was a great villain! I also liked that we got to learn more about Angie's background, and Fred knowing about the traps was really cool. I agree that for once, the villain's motive was really sweet.

El Bandito:
I enjoyed this episode. The opening was funny with the boy and girl looking at the clouds haha.

It was kind of mean of Fred not telling Shaggy and Scooby about the Day of the Dead until they arrived.

I liked that Daphne was trying to connect with her ancestors through signs. She was trying to be her Aunt Cookie. I liked the message of be you. You can’t be something that your not and you just got to be you. That’s a good message.

The Spirit of El Bandito was a great and creepy villain. It was funny that Fred and Gustavo were going up against each other with El Bandito trivia. Haha skull on his bicep and bicep on his skull.

Mort was a pretty creepy character. The thing he was said about people with beating hearts was especially creepy. He said that Gustavo gave him the creeps like he’s one to talk.

Guastavo as the Spirit of El Bandito was pretty obvious given that he sold a bunch of El Bandito merchandise. I liked the twist that the swords were the key to finding the loot and that it was under his booth the whole time.

I liked the trivia bits as well haha. I agree the culprit was obvious, but yeah, I also really liked the aspect of the swords being the key to their plan. That was a neat little detail that I didn't see coming.
