Weekly Poll #151

This is the last of the weekly polls that we're doing a redo for, and I saved a really deep dive for last! This poll is so old that it didn't even have a number (thus why it's #151), and two of these episodes ("Area 51 Adjacent" and "The Crown Jewel of Boxing!") hadn't even aired yet at the time of posting it haha. It was the first poll ever done on this site from 2014, the year the blog was first published. The results of this poll were four votes for Gold Paw, and no votes for anything else lol. I'd link you to them, but for some reason, they were never published? I don't know what I was thinking, but I couldn't find these results posted anywhere on the blog, and I had to dig through the Survey Manager on the site to even see what they were haha. Anyway, I'm excited to see the results for this eight years later!

The results are in for favorite girl ghoul! Sybella won with 26 votes, but Tanis was pretty close behind with 20 votes. Winnie came in third with 6 votes, Phantasma came in fourth with 5 votes, and as I predicted in the comments, Elsa was in last place, getting only three votes. The results are in the exact same order as the first time we did the poll in April 2020, except Phantasma and Winnie were switched around. I also forgot to mention for that the Universal Monsters re-do poll from a couple of weeks ago had the exact same results as the original poll. All seven options were in the exact same order as the original poll.

I haven't seen Gold Paw.
4) The Night the Clown Cried - it's a Mystery Incorporated episode.
3) Dog Tag Scooby - This is one of the weakest 7 minute shorts. Gomer Pyle this isn't.
2) Almost Ghosts - OK. One of the weaker Get a Clue episodes for shoehorning in the gang.
1) Area 51 Adjacent - One of the best Be Cool episodes and one of the series' funniest. Cool villain and fun action. I liked Daphne's quirk of the week.

5. Dog Tag Scooby - basically just 7 minutes of tomfoolery with them running around and angering the general, so I'm not a huge fan of this one.

4. The Night the Clown Cried - decent episode, but not very focused around the army base so not going to vote this, given I'm judging these more based on setting and not on episode quality.

3. Almost Ghosts - one of my favorite Get a Clue episodes! It was fun to see the gang again, and the antics with Fred, Daphne and Velma thinking the others were ghosts was great.

2. Gold Paw - super close and I love this episode (and the Secret Six!) but ultimately I had to go with...

1. Area 51 Adjacent - great Be Cool episode. Super funny and I love the villain.

Area 51 Adjacent is one of the best BCSD episodes, so I ended up giving it the edge, even though Gold Paw is very close. The Night the Clown Cried is great, but it's a bit too depressing to watch to really be all that enjoyable.

I was super tempted to pick “Gold Paw” as well, but yeah, I’ve gotta give this one to “Area 51 Adjacent.”

I wouldn't vote for it, Gold Paw gets my vote paws down but wouldn't The Crown Jewel of Boxing fit into this category?

Good catch, I forgot the boxing museum was on an army base! I just added it as an option.

Haven’t seen Almost Ghosts. Or if I have, I don’t remember. I also don’t have much memory about Crown Jewel of Boxing even though I watched it

4. Dog Tag Scooby- I mean, out of the 4 options left, what did you expect?

3. The Night the Clown Cried- Would be closer quality wise to number 2, but it is easily 3 when considering that it wasn’t really truly set at the army base that much

2. Area 51 Adjacent- Not a favorite of mine from Be Cool, but it is good

1. Gold Paw- EASY choice for me

Thinking about it, quality wise I actually think I would still put everything in the same order. "Gold Paw" and "Area 51 Adjacent" were super close for me, though.

This short was just Shaggy and the dogs running around the base and angering the general. Nothing too special.

Gold Paw:
I liked this episode. It was cool seeing Mr. B and the Secret Six Puppies again for one last time. I enjoyed the scene where the gang were interrogated by the soldiers.

The Gold Monster was great, original, and creepy villain. It was cool that he can turn people into gold statues.

Travis Knox and his angry outbursts were funny.

Drill Sergeant Payne as the culprit wasn’t that surprising. It’s funny that he says sir after every sentence.

The ending was nice and cute with the puppies being awarded metals and Scooby becoming their new drill sergeant.

I really enjoyed this episode! I loved seeing Mr. B and the Secret Six and wish they could have been in more episodes. The soldier scene was funny. I liked the Gold Monster quite a bit. I wasn't surprised by the culprit. The ending with everyone being awarded metals is adorable.

Almost Ghosts:
I liked this episode. It’s funny that a sheep ended up in the mystery machine again just like from Lochness Monster. I liked that Rick and Mark made a reference to Star Wars.

It was cool that Fred, Daphne and Velma appeared in this episode and that they trap Shaggy and Scooby thinking that they are ghosts. It was cute that Shaggy and Scooby told Velma to say Jinkies and Velma and Daphne told Scooby to say Scooby Dooby Doo.

I really enjoyed this Get a Clue episode. I thought it was awesome that Fred, Velma and Daphne appeared in this episode. It was funny how they thought Shaggy and Scooby were ghosts.
