A big thank you to Shadowscooby for coming up with our Halloween poll this year! I really debated including Ghoul School since there is a brief scene where the Grimwood Girls celebrate Halloween with their fathers. I chose to leave it out so that the movies that were completely centered around Halloween could get the focus. In addition, I know Warner Brothers marketed Scooby-Doo! FrankenCreepy as a Halloween movie, but the movie does not make mention of Halloween, so I did not include that here either.
It seems like last week's results were pretty spread out, but there was one option that took a clear lead! What is your favorite episode / film set in a castle? Hassle in the Castle - 17 Scooby-Doo! FrankenCreepy - 5 Scooby-Doo! The Sword and the Scoob - 5 Scooby-Doo and the Ghoul School - 4 A Gaggle of Galloping Ghosts - 4 Scooby-Doo and the Loch Ness Monster - 4 The Haunted Horseman of Hagglethorn Hall - 3 The Vampire Strikes Back - 3 Large Dragon at Large - 3 Scooby-Doo! Abracadabra Doo - 3 Scared a Lot in Camelot - 2 A Halloween Hassle at Dracula's Castle - 2 That's Monstertainment - 2 Scooby-Doo and the Reluctant Werewolf - 2 Scooby-Doo and the Goblin King - 2 Giant Problems - 2 A Highland Fling with a Monstrous Thing - 1 Scoobra Kadoobra - 1 How to Train Your Coward - 1 The Feast of Dr. Frankenfooder - 1 0 votes: Sir Scooby and the Black Knight, Moonlight Madness, Scooby and the Beanstalk, Who's Minding the Monster?, Me and My Shadow Demon, Party Like It's 1899, and LEGO Scooby-Doo: Knight Time Terror

Obviously Goblin King with it's unique concept. It's one I really didn't like. But the amount of monsters, the fact that the film focusses mostly on Shaggy and Scooby and that hilarious pumpkin.

Curiously though how exactly is Scooby-Doo & KISS: Rock and Roll Mystery considered to be a halloween movie per-say?

Great rankings! The KISS movie is the only one of this group I don't rewatch every Halloween, but I included since it's about KISS doing a Halloween concert.

I am a bad Scooby Doo fan. I have yet to see three of these, with the only one I have seen being Goblin King, which I do not like.

Aww, that doesn't make you a bad Scooby-Doo fan lol. I'd recommend watching Happy Halloween and Trick or Treat if you can, although I don't really like the KISS movie all that much, so I wouldn't necessarily recommend that one.

So Goblin King would currently be your de facto winner here lol. Who would've thought.

I have not yet seen Trick or Treat in its entirety yet but based on the numerous clips I have seen, I am pretty sure it would actually be in my top 5 Scooby Doo films. I should be getting the Trick or Treat DVD in the mail in the next couple days. I will watch it and then do my rankings!

Trick or Treat was amazing for me and I'd put it in my top 15 Scooby films for sure.

Currently rewatching Halloween, not really changing my mind, great first half, so so second. Goblin King all the way

Yeah, I remember you didn't really care for Happy Halloween's second half all that much due to the car chase. It didn't really bother me personally, but I can definitely understand why it would annoy others. Great to see the love for Goblin King!

Goblin King EASILY. The others are just decent, except Rock & Roll Mystery which is an extremely weird mess.

4. Scooby-Doo & KISS: Rock and Roll Mystery - This movie was okay, but it got extremely weird at times, and not necessarily in a fun way like Goblin King lol.

Yeah, I can agree that Kiss: Rock & Roll Mystery does get weird at times, especially with the whole kissteria dimension scene, but it is still a fun movie to revisit now and then. 10/23/2022 07:32:17 pm
Yeah, the Kissteria Dimension was the super weird part for me. I'll maybe have to rewatch it one of these days as tbh, I haven't seen the movie since it first came out.

I may have to say Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo! for this one. I haven’t seen Goblin King, or really any of the What’s New era movies, in years (although that is the final movie that I ever watched with my grandfather, so it is still important to me) so I don’t have a fully formed opinion on it anymore. I’m not a particular fan of the KISS movie and while I do like Happy Halloween’s trick-or-treat vibes probably the best, having just tonight finally watched Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo! I can definitely say that that movie is a funny and loving tribute to the franchise. Imperfect, but something that really did a lot of things that I have always wanted to see out of a Scooby-Doo movie! So for now, it is getting my vote. If Happy Halloween hadn’t been mostly driving I would have maybe picked it, and maybe upon rewatches my thoughts will change.

Absolutely agreed about Trick or Treat being a great tribute to the franchise! There were a few things that could have been developed more and done better IMO, like Daphne's subplot of not knowing her role within the gang, but I still thought the movie was amazing. The driving in Happy Halloween didn't bother me as much as it did others, but I agree that it brings it a bit below Trick or Treat's quality.

4)Rock N Roll Mystery: This wasn't a bad movie but really messy in a meh way. I am a kiss fan but i didn't find their portrayals in this film interesting at all (Paul Stanley and Daphne crushing on each other was very weird to me considering the age difference btw)

Couldn't agree more with all your opinions. The only thing I'd personally switch around in my own rankings is Trick or Treat would be second and Happy Halloween would be third, but otherwise I agree with everything you said.

yeah i guess i had some issues with the plot of trick or treat and at some point it gets so crazy for me to keep up. Happy Halloween was more down to the ground 10/25/2022 02:00:30 pm
Haha I liked the random, wacky humor of Trick or Treat, but I can absolutely understand why you wouldn’t :)

Great to see so much love for Goblin King in this poll! Even though I personally enjoy it, I can understand why you'd find Happy Halloween a bit boring because of the car chase.

I like how expressive the animation of Trick or Treat was too! Agreed that Daphne's subplot was underdeveloped, but Velma and Fred's worked for me personally. I like Shaggy and Scooby's subplot the best. The wishing well scene, especially at the end, was absolutely incredible. I loved Esteban's deep voice at the end too haha. The randomness towards the end of this film was great lol. Tbh, I've complained a lot about forced nostalgia in the past few years, but the nostalgia worked for me here. It felt like they actually tied it into the plot for once, instead of just having Captain Cutler or Space Kook show up for no reason like in the couple Guess Who episodes they were in and the countless cameos in recent DTVs. The villains being recaptured easily didn't bother me too much either. Overall, I have no complaints about the movie other than I thought Daphne's subplot felt rushed and forced in, and the snot jokes weren't great either. I agree with you the character design of the warden wasn't the best. I loved the soundtrack too! All of the songs in the film sounded amazing. I won't share my movie rankings yet since I am actually writing up a post with my movie rankings now, but I will say it's in my top 20. I love your movie rankings! I don't think I've ever seen Arabian Nights so high in someone's rankings, but I appreciate that it's so high. The movie is a bit overhated in my opinion. I don't feel there's anything wrong with Arabian Nights beyond that it was advertised as a Scooby movie when Scooby's only in about 20% of it, but I'm a Hanna-Barbera fan as well so I enjoyed the Yogi and Magilla plots.

it will be dissappointing if goblin king doesn't win in a landslide, it's the only one that didn't feel insulting. kiss would've been great if they didn't mess up the ending. Happy halloween, while not bad is damaged because it tries to focus on velma who at this point is more annoying then scrappy. Trick or treat is just nostalgia bait, Coco is way too animated and them saying Daphne is the actual leader and making fred dim-witted when guess who was trying to make him somewhat intelligent again rubs me the wrong way.

I explained why I personally found those three insulting. I will say kiss maybe would be better to saying the ending is disappointing but both of the others to me are insulting. Happy Halloween is really one I could do a whole rant video on YouTube that is 20 minutes or long.

I understand why you dislike the movies, but I think insulting might be the wrong term with what you said up there. With “insulting”, it is an attack at YOU personally, or saying something to belittle you or the audience in general or something. Which is different than just not liking the product given to you, which would be disliking it or just thinking it is bad 10/25/2022 01:58:29 pm
I personally thought Velma was better in Happy Halloween, in the sense that they gave her a reason for being so profusely logic. While the Velma in that movie still isn’t perfect, I didn’t think she was obnoxious or overbearing like in the previous two.

4. Scooby Doo Kiss Rock and Roll Mystery: I did enjoy the movie. The Kissteria Realm was the craziest part about the movie because it was a direction I didn’t think the movie would go, especially in a movie with KISS. And Velma deduced that the realm was caused by a Mass Hallucination was her top 3 worst explanations along with Swamp Gas from Return to Zombie Island and Himalayan Hallucinations from the 13th Ghost movie.

It's been so long since I've seen the film that I forgot Velma said it was a mass hallucination! *facepalm*
