So this Sunday's poll didn't turn out to be particularly exciting, as everyone seemed to vote for one particular option with the exception of a few people. One of the comments in that particular thread sums it up quite well haha. Given this, I thought it might be more fun and allow for a bit more variety in answers to simply redo the poll with all the Scooby and Scrappy shows. The results for this poll will still be posted on Sunday. For those who are curious about the final results of the other one, here they are: Which season of The Richie Rich / Scooby-Doo Hour collectively had the best villains? Neither - 28 Season 2 - 7 Season 1 - 9

It is a close race here between the first season, TNSDMy, and 13 Ghosts. I’m almost inclined to vote 13 Ghosts (Almost!) but I think I will go with the first season

To clarify, I mean the 1979 version when I say first season

I didn't really consider 13 Ghosts too much, because there were a few lackluster/strange/bland designs and ideas for monsters, like Zimbulu, Demondo, Phantazmo. And the fact 2 of the ghosts (Nekara and Captain Ferguson) were mostly presented in human form doesn't seem like a great decision (imo) for a show about some of the most dangerous, horrifying and gruesome monsters in the world.

That is probably why I went away from it, but there are a few that I thing are really cool in 13 Ghosts though. Zomba is one of my favorites 3/29/2022 07:01:45 pm
I had to think about it a bit, but I agree with what everyone's saying about how unique the 1979 show's villains were! The Snake Demon, Dragon Beast, Blue Scarab, Shadow Creature, Neon Phantom, Star Creature, the Alien...all of them had such cool designs.

Yea, I tried to give it serious thought, but also without examples of monsters for both seasons I kinda just went "nope" and voted neither, sorry if that made me part of the problem

No need to apologize! I wasn't bothered by people answering "neither," I just thought it might make for more interesting results rather than everyone feeling like they had no good option to vote for.

Carl and Tony ARE easily the worst here lol. I’m personally a big fan of the Snake Demon even if it seems a bit ridiculous

I had the same feelings about The New Scooby-Doo Mysteries. They kinda fell in the "ghost of ___" trope a bit too much. The Universal Monsters, Norma Deathman and Hamlet's ghost are among my favorites of not only this season, but of the Scrappy episodes in general. I have a soft spot for Franklin Stein too haha. Red Skull is neat. Cyclops is...okay. I liked his design, but I didn't really feel his presence in the episode was great. It could have been better.

The first Scooby Doo and Scrappy Doo Series of Course. A lot of nostalgia from that series.

I am still going with Richie Rich Scooby Doo show season 1 here. I do really like some Puppy Hour villains but not many are substantial. The 1979 season had some really cool villains as did New Scooby and Scrappy Doo Show in 1983. As for 13 Ghosts, I really liked Maldor the Malevolent and the zombies in Horror Scope Scoob as well as Zimbulu.

The zombies in "Horror Scope Scoob" were funny. Snowball was adorable.

The 5 villains from Puppy Hour that I really like are Jasmine the Genie, Slime Boy, RB, RB's girlfriend, and the Abominable Snowman. 3/29/2022 07:47:03 pm
I'm glad you enjoyed those! I didn't really particularly enjoy any of them other than Slime Boy. Jasmine, RB and RB's girlfriend were a bit bland to me. The Abominable Snowman had a nice design, but his roar is awful (in my opinion).

Concerning RB and his girlfriend, I am not sure why I enjoy them but I just do. Misfortune Teller is one of my favorite Scooby Doo Episodes from the 80's. 3/29/2022 10:39:23 pm
Fair enough, nostalgia definitely drives us liking things that we're not sure why we like. I feel that way about "Scooby's Trip to Ahz."

I personally never use nostalgia for rating media. I am a critic and enjoy the art of the critique. I see nostalgia as an obstacle in the way of total expression. There are movies that I loved as a kid that I would not give a 2/10 to now. 3/30/2022 08:44:36 am
Thank you for pointing that out and I'm sorry I misunderstood what you were saying. That's a really interesting perspective on nostalgia! I actually have an article I just wrote about this a few days ago for the blog that I'll post at some point.

Going back through and doing averages on these that I didn't, so it's easier to calculate for the final winner's poll. Good and Adorable counts as 2 points, god awful is 0, whereas everything else is 1.

Great - Alien, Neon Phantom, Snake Demon, Dragon Beast, Devil Bear, Sea Beast, Lady Vampire of the Bay (though it'd be better if she didn't have to say her full name every two seconds lol), Star Creature, Shadow Creature

I forgot the ghost of Jeremiah Pratt, who falls in the "Good" category.

Oh boy, this is tough but I'll try. I guess it's odd none of the 1979 villains are in here given I picked that as my vote, but I would argue that the series had the most consistently good villains compared to the others, while the best villains came from individual other seasons.

I guess my brain must not be working, cuz I can't remember the banshee at all. What episode was it from? 3/30/2022 08:41:52 am
It appeared briefly in "Scooby's Luck of the Irish." I thought the design was super cool-looking and this deserved its own episode. Here's a picture of it: https://scoobysnaxepguides.weebly.com/uploads/1/3/2/2/13221939/published/1448298925.png

I would have to agree with others it's a tricky one between the 1979 series, the NSM and 13 ghosts but feel the 1979 series wins. I'm away and can't really do proper research on my phone but when you consider that the best episodes of NSM contained Velma and or Fred and the fact that some of the 13 ghosts were a little lacklustre, it makes sense although 13 ghosts was a very close second.

Yep, agreed. The New Scooby-Doo Mysteries also included too many villains that were just spies in my opinion.

I will defend Codefinger a little bit. Similar to the Chameleon, he wasn’t supposed to be a monster or anything, but just a guy who is really good at disguises. I have to give him props for somehow tricking the General into thinking that he was a Major in his disguise. I’d say he is more okay than good, but for what he is, I don’t think he is that bad 3/31/2022 09:34:29 pm
I definitely don't hate Codefinger, I just thought his design was a little silly. The disguises were cool though! I guess perhaps a "really bad" ranking was a bit harsh. I'm glad you agree on my amusing tier haha. The Sea Lion is indeed one of the funniest villains of the franchise lol. 5/21/2022 04:33:44 pm
Great and adorable are 3 points, good is 2 points, bad and amusing are 1 point, and really bad gets zero points.

WB is releasing a new Looney Tunes film called King Tweety in June, so I'm wondering when the next Scooby film will be announced.

I don't think we will be seeing a new DTV of scooby, for a while given that a new DTV Looney Tunes was only recently announced. Besides it usually takes three months for new DTV from warner to become available on DVD and streaming following such a announcement. Besides the Super-Pets movie comes out at the end of july, so if they were to annouce a new Scooby movie now that means it would most likey come out at the beginning of july. Which wouldn't be a good idea to do seeing as releasing two movies starring krypto in them so close to each other would be a rather bad idea. Also I doubt we will be a seeing a new Scooby series for a while, seeing as WB is currently busy make new episodes for Jellystone! it was announced a while ago that show was renewed for an additional 40 episodes to make so we be definitely be seeing a third and fourth season and if we are a lucky maybe even as fifth one I hope we see a DVD release of it one day.. As for the velma series I think it will get released in autumn.

I think it will probably be the Krypto film, and we'll probably get that closer to July to align with the new date for the Super Pets film.

I could be wrong but I really don't think the Krypto film will get released towards july it would simply be bad publicity to release two movies with the same character to close to each other. And we do know that it takes them a peroid of three months to release these DTV since they have been know to do this the past and are still doing it that way some examples.

You may be right, but on the other hand I'd find it odd if WB just happened to come up with two movies with Krypto around the same time, especially since Krypto hasn't appeared in any media (besides comics) since the mid-2000s. It sort of feels like they were trying to synchronize it so the Scooby film would support the movie, but I may be wrong.
