Weekly Poll #115

I did this poll a long time ago in February way back in 2015, but it only got about 10 votes since I'd just started the site and blog, and not all that many people knew about it yet. Given this, since next week is the Super Bowl, I wanted to re-ask the same question seven years later. I debated about whether to just do it next week on the Super Bowl, but I thought it would be more fun for people to see the results on Super Bowl day, rather than having to wait until the week after. And of course, the final option wasn't in the original poll, but I couldn't resist using the option from our baseball poll back in September again lol.

Here are the results for last week's poll:
Which Where Are You season collectively had the best villains overall?
Season 1 - 43
Season 2 - 26
Season 3 -  15

Obviously, The Ghost That Sacked The Quarterback.

Yep, that's my pick too. I wonder if anyone will pick "Pigskin Scooby." I'm sure at least a few people will.

Well that one would definitely go to Ghost That Sacked the Quarterback. Even though I find it rather lackluster compared to some other sports and episodes as well as other episodes in its season

All of that being said, (American) football is my favorite sport and something I love to watch so the last option was NOT a choice lol

I agree "The Ghost That Sacked the Quarterback" was a lackluster episode compared to most of the others in the season, but I did really enjoy the villain. I'm not a big fan of sports personally, though I have gone to the occasional game (though I would only ever go if I was invited, I wouldn't just go to a game on my own).

I picked the third option but in all fairness, Ghost that Sacked the Quarterback has its moments.

I enjoy "The Ghost that Sacked the Quarterback" as well. The Rambling Ghost was a really cool villain!

You should put a 4th option: "soccer is the real football" . All of us here overseas will vote for that lol.

Between these two i like The Ghost that Sacked the Quarterback more. Neither of them are in my top favourites though

That has now been added as an option lol. It's surprising how few football episodes there have been in the 50+ years of the franchise.

It is surprising indeed. I think baseball is the sport with the most episodes. I belive it's Fred's favourite also

I think you're right!

Quite an easy choice, The Quarterback. I actually think that episode gets overhated a bit, I mean sure, it's not anywhere close to the best of TSDS or just season 1 in general, but it's still a good enjoyable episode. It's just that it doesn't reach the level of greatness we expect from a TSDS episode. Whenever I see it called the worst of the show, I just think to myself what on Earth is The Jaguaro then.

I don't even recognize the title "Pigskin Scooby", so that tells me all I need lol.

Oh, and if you wanna anger the world you could put in the option of the DTV special that features the other type of football out there, Ghastly Goals, lmao.

A racing episode poll would be cool too, if you haven't done one yet!

I still enjoy "The Ghost that Sacked the Quarterback" quite a bit even though it's far from the best episode of season 1. "Jeepers, It's the Jaguaro" is definitely the worst of the show IMO.

"Pigskin Scooby" is one of the Scrappy shorts from 1980. I don't think it's a good episode, as it's quite literally Shaggy, Scooby and Scrappy playing against a physically large football team, after the home team is apparently so frightened by the size of the players that they run out of the stadium. There isn't even a monster, it's just the football team lol.

I haven't done a racing poll! I have one that someone else picked for next week, but it would be a good one to split up the 'best villains by season' polls once I start those. Thanks!

LOL at the Jaguaro comment. I would definitely say that one is weaker than Quarterback as well

Now I am excited to be able to praise Spooky Case of the Grand Prix Race

"Spooky Case of the Grand Prix Race" is an incredible episode! It's one of my favorites in a season that is already one of the most amazing in Scooby history.

Spooky Case of the Grand Prix Race is absolutely perfect to me

Matt

Agreed. The more I watch it, the more I realize that I would consider it one of the most flawless and overall greatest episodes ever made

Becker
2/8/2022 12:41:58 pm

It's actually in my top 5 episodes in the whole franchise. It's very underrated imo. It was always one of those episodes that just mesmerized me since the first time I watched it.

Matt
2/8/2022 03:05:32 pm

Wow, that is really high! But I can see why, the setting and atmosphere just make for an amazing episode. Top 30 or maybe top 20 all time for me

Top 5 of all time seems super high! I agree it is an incredible episode and it's flawless in so many ways, but I'd probably lean more towards Matt and say it's in my top 20 of all time.

As an Englishman, I'm abdicating on this one as there is only one Scooby Doo football episode I can think of and it was truly awful.

Are you thinking of "Pigskin Scooby" or "The Ghost Who Sacked the Quarterback"? Also, in fairness, there are two options in the poll for 'I don't 'Both of the football episodes are awful, football in general is awful, in fact, all sports are just plain awful' and 'Soccer is the real football' lol.

Becker

I think Samuel is talking about Ghastly Goals, because he said there's "only one football episode" to him as an Englishman, because to pretty much the entire world except the US the true football is soccer. And he's also right that Ghastly Goals is awful.

Samuel Kirkwood

Ghastly Goals is what I'm thinking of. Fine, I'll select that fourth option. LOL.

Becker
2/7/2022 11:09:18 am

I honestly wouldn't be shocked if one of the bottom 2 choices wins this one lol

WildwindVampire
2/7/2022 05:40:32 pm

Oh hahahaha I totally missed the joke there lol. I agree Ghastly Goals was horrid. One of the worst episodes in the Scooby franchise IMO.

@Becker That would be hilarious if one of those options wins lmao.

The Ghost That Sacked The QuarterBack:
I enjoyed this episode. The Rambling Ghost was a really cool villain. His growling sounds were creepy.

Some funny stuff in the episode: Scooby flying across the stadium and landing in that instrument in the beginning and the end. Scooby asking the rambling ghost where’s his ticket. Scooby going through the lockers and ignoring that fact that he didn’t noticed the rambling ghost.

The ending was nice with the hawks winning the wonder bowl, and the gangs faces being shown on the scoreboard.

The villain is my favorite part of the episode! There were definitely some funny moments in this episode. I always found Scooby turning into a cat to be amusing. The ending was quite cute and overall it was an enjoyable episode.

It’s not an episode about football, but an Easter egg is Fred mentioning the Green Bay Packers in Fright House of a Light House

I forgot about that reference! I've got quite a bit of family that lives in Wisconsin, so I've always had a special appreciation for this episode.

Pigskin Scooby:
This episode was just Shaggy, Scooby and Scrappy playing football against big football players because the other team were to afraid to play them. Nothing really special.
