I included "Lightning Strikes Back" from Shaggy & Scooby-Doo Get a Clue in this poll, as even though there wasn't an alien as a main villain, the episode's main focus revolves around aliens. Thanks Becker for coming up with this poll idea!

This one is a no brainer, Spooky Space Kook. Scariest alien ever and really great episode.

It's one of my favorite alien episodes too and it was really tough to choose, but I think I have to go with Alien Invaders. I like the more mature plot where the gang is older. Not to say this episode was immature, I guess I just like Alien Invaders slightly better. It was a very tough decision though.

For some reason I chose In Space, even though Spooky Space Kook would be the obvious answer.

The "in space!" jokes were hilarious in this one. Definitely my #3 choice after "Spooky Space Kook" and Alien Invaders.

Spooky Space Kook is definitely my favorite. Second would be Alien Invaders. I have not seen Invasion of the Scooby Snatchers in its entirety though.

"Invasion of the Scooby Snatchers" was fine. I wouldn't say it was particularly memorable. The space clones were neat though.

Same here. It was really tough deciding but I just like the mature/dark tone of that 1998-2001 era slightly better, even though "Spooky Space Kook" is an epic episode.

I did think about including that one, but I ultimately didn't since it was just a UFO and the skeleton men were never explicitly stated to be aliens. Does anyone else feel I should have included this? I'm happy to go back and this is as an option if others feel it was an oversight.

Hmm I’m not sure myself. The UFO connection makes sense 12/6/2021 11:53:07 am
I guess there's no harm in adding it. I just created that as an option.

Even though my pick is Spooky Space Kook, did you forget about including Ghosts of the Ancient Astronauts? That could be somebody's favorite.

I ll go with alien invaders. Greta dark movie and part of the gold 1998-2001 era. Spooky space kook is close second

Agreed! Although I love both the gold era and Where Are You, I would say some of the gold era stuff slightly edges out Where Are You for me.

As much as I love Where Are You, I tend to have started agreeing. Zombie Island and Alien Invaders specifically have become my favorite things Scooby has in its catalog entirely 12/6/2021 11:53:50 am
I agree with that except I would say Witch's Ghost is above Alien Invaders for me (but both are still amazing).

Where would Ancient Astronauts, Strange Encounters of a Scooby Kind and Lightning Strikes Back rank? 12/11/2021 10:57:49 pm
Clearly I responded to Jakob's comment too fast and didn't notice that he was missing some. Let's try that again haha. I do like "Lightning Strikes Back" so I hate to rank it at the bottom, but it's the weakest of the episodes IMO.

Agreed he is the scariest alien! He's one of my favorite villains of the entire franchise. I love the creepy setting of this episode as well and I agree the doppelgangers of the Space Kook were quite creepy. A true classic.

This was indeed a creepy episode and the villains were neat. I wish they weren't just skeleton suits though, as that makes it pretty clear they weren't skeletons. The episode also felt like it ignored Fred, Velma and Daphne in favor of Shaggy/Scooby antics, which makes me not like this episode quite as much as some others. I do enjoy it, though.

You make a great point about Shaggy being inspired to be more brave through how he looks up to superheroes! I wonder if the plot of "Return of Commander Cool" was at all inspired by "Super Teen Shaggy."

The aliens were definitely super scary, but Crystal and Amber are the standout aliens of this movie. It was so sweet how Shaggy and Scooby fell in love with them, and I hope they can cross paths again one day too :) I remember being shocked when I first saw the film about Crystal and Amber being aliens.

This was a great episode and the alien was very creepy! I actually didn't notice the scientists in the background at first. I think I only noticed it in 2015 when I was researching something else for a fun fact, and ended up seeing that for the first time.

I liked that all the aliens were a different species too! It was fun how they tied the mystery into Sheriff Stone's past. The ending was indeed very intense! The scene with the shadow of the Reptoid Alien standing over Daphne's bed is super creepy, arguably one of the scariest moments of the series.

I enjoyed this movie a lot too! This was actually the first movie I ever reviewed on this blog. I loved the humor as well, and all the different side characters and references were so fun. The alien's design was super creepy. Yeah, that plan has always stood out to me as being one of the most evil of any non-supernatural villain. The ending was super cool how the gang exposed her.

That's a lot more alien Scrappy shorts than I thought. Also 3 episode titles referenced Spielberg's "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" from 1977 in the span of 5 years after its release.

Every single alien episode/film brings something different to the table with the alien stuff (even the Scrappy shorts). You could make an entire Scooby show just based on aliens (though I don't know if I would want just aliens in a Scooby show). 12/12/2021 05:46:31 pm
Absolutely agreed! I wouldn't mind seeing all aliens in a Scooby series if it was a short series, say maybe a 13-episode show with only one season.

Witch's Ghost is maybe 7th. It's my least favorite Innes film, which is unpopular. Don't get me wrong, I do really like it, I just don't think it's one of the best. Ghoul School is around #15, not sure the exact place. I've always thought it's not nearly as great as Boo Brothers and Reluctant Werewolf. I just don't find all that engaging personally, but it is still good.
WildwindVampire
12/13/2021 08:43:25 am
Wow! I have to admit I wasn't expecting Ghoul School to be quite that low. Makes sense though if it wasn't that engaging to you. What's your #5? (I was expecting it to be Ghoul School or Witch's Ghost)
Becker
12/13/2021 10:08:47 am
Ghoul School is good, I just don't think it's great. #5 is Cyber Chase and #6 is Loch Ness Monster (that's another unpopular pick, but I really enjoy this movie and find it underrated) 12/13/2021 06:30:49 pm
Cyber Chase would have been my next guess, but I'm surprised about Loch Ness Monster! I do really enjoy that movie, but it's not among my top 10. Leave a Reply. |
