It seems like WB has finally responded to the "Ultra Instinct Shaggy" meme that has been all over the Internet for the past several years. A scene from Scooby-Doo! Legend of the Phantosaur where Shaggy fights a biker gang was mashed up on YouTube with Dragon Ball Z music, to make it seem like Shaggy was all-powerful. After the video went viral, a petition to include Shaggy in a Mortal Kombat game began gaining millions of signatures. Though the Mortal Kombat creators responded to this petition saying that it would never happen, it looks like people may have finally gotten their wish. In the latest Mortal Kombat film, Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms, Shaggy can be seen coming out of the WB logo punching and knocking out one of the characters. You can watch the opening scene above.

Aww hahaha, I just never thought they'd do anything like this so it seemed fake to me. Especially since the tweet you emailed me said "This is really the real thing and not fake at all!" or something like that which just made it seem suspicious lol.

I mean that's fair, it's why I was suspicious, but it looked real to me, I just didn't believe it. 9/1/2021 09:00:59 am
Yeah, it kind of came out of nowhere with no announcement or anything.

Well it's a video game series first and foremost... one of the big 90s fighters big for crazy finishers.

Unpopular opinion: a spinoff series of Ultra Instinct Shaggy would be really cool if it took itself seriously (had a well written plot and didn't just give more meme material).

A show like that would be amazing, tbh. If there was a decent plot and it wasn't all cringey/cheesy meme stuff, I'd be totally down to see something like that!

Ngl, I'd be happy if WB somehow greenlit "Scooby-Doo: The Legend of Ultra Instinct Shaggy"

TBH, I was caught off guard by this and it was strange and also amusing to see WB include this meme as a fun cameo in the opening.

I wouldn't have either! The Mortal Kombat creators responded to the meme saying it wouldn't happen, so I never expected anything to become of this.

The company and developers involved in the MK games don't care about the meme, but the MK movies are handled by different people – namely Warner Bros. And WB have shown they're getting a kick out of memes, at least lately. They put a Big Chungus moment in Space Jam: A New Legacy, and now they had Ultra Instict Shaggy cameo in MK Legends: Battle of the Realms. I'm sure they put him specifically in an MK movie because the games wouldn't do it, and they thought "fine, we'll do it ourselves" haha. 9/2/2021 08:17:35 am
Ah, that would make sense then. That honestly makes it even cooler that the movie creators did it to satisfy people who signed that petition even though the games wouldn't!

At first, I didn't realise this was replacing Porky and Daffy.

I didn't even think about how it was replacing Porky and Daffy. I agree it looks super cool.

I don't know if it's worth mentioning that the meme's origins go back to using screenshots of the 2002 cast with captions beneath them talking about how incredibly strong Shaggy is with 1 percent power.

I wrote a fun fact about it way back when the meme was first happening in 2019. https://scoobysnax1.weebly.com/blog/shaggy-fact-of-the-week-2278102715
