Tracy Mark Lee Shares What Mel Brooks Guess Who Design Would Have Looked Like

A few weeks ago, Tracy Mark Lee revealed that Mel Brooks was originally planned to be in an episode of Scooby-Doo and Guess Who? that was scrapped. Now, Tracy has just posted the character design for Mel Brooks on his Instagram page designed by Stephen Silver, which can be seen above. I had also speculated in my previous post that perhaps Mel Brooks (and Dolly Parton) could have been substituted out of the episode for another guest star. However, Tracy has confirmed that this did not happen any other other case except with the Hex Girls episode, which KISS was originally supposed to guest star in, but they were scrapped as guest stars at the last minute after the episode had been nearly finished. He went on to explain that the episodes were always based on the guest star's background and history, so that the episodes would be more personal. The Mel Brooks episode was scrapped quickly, so very few aspects of the episode were developed.

Here is the desciption for Season 3 episode 15,

(A Haunted Hockey Night is No Delight!)
Guess starring: (Wayne Gretzky)

In this episode... When the gang goes to Canada to watch the NHL Playoffs Tournament, they met former canadian hockey player Wayne Gretzky, and encounter a ghostly figure skater known as the Frozen Phantasm.

Note: This episode will be a sequal to the SD&GW? Season 2 episode: (Scooby on Ice!) mainly because Simone appears in the episode.

Seems like a fun episode! It sounds similar to "Diamonds Are a Ghoul's Best Friend" from What's New, Scooby-Doo? That's cool that it's a sequel!

This episode sounds great. It would be cool if we got another hockey episode after Diamonds Are a Ghoul’s Best Friend.

Former NHL Hockey player Wayne Gretzky as a guest star reminds me of former NFL Football player Terry Bradshaw as a guest star.

The Ghost of Male Figure Skater is an original idea for a villain and it’s cool that this episode is a sequel to Scooby on Ice because Simone is in it.

I agree, though I'm actually happier that we got a Hex Girls episode instead of another KISS one. I'll admit it would be interesting to see what the episode would have been like with them as guest stars, but ultimately I'm glad they didn't appear again. One film was enough IMO.

Here is the description for Season 3 episode 16

(Glutton for Punishment!) Guess starring: (Rebel Wilson)

In this episode... Shaggy and Scooby's uncontrollable eating problem encourages them both to go on diets and to exercise more frequently.
Meanwhile, convenience stores all over town are being robbed by a monster known as the Junkfood Demon and coincidentally famous actress, comedian, writer, and singer, Rebel Wilson works at one of the stores that was robbed. Together she and the scooby gang must find a way to put an end to this gluttonous ghouls high cholesterol rampage.

I'm not very familiar with Rebel Wilson (although I have heard of her), but this sounds like a neat episode. Sounds like it could be similar to "The Devouring" from Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated.

I looked thru the TV guide, and it turns out that Boomerang will only be showing a week of new episodes, leaving at least 4 remaining. Yes, FOUR remaining. All they had to do was have another week. What possible reason could they have for postponing it?

Wow, and I thought the US's rollout of the episodes was ridiculous lol. That makes absolutely no sense to leave four episodes remaining, especially when most other countries had finished airing the series last summer.

I love the idea of a Nancy Drew/Scooby-Doo crossover! Having the headless ghost be Velma's ancestor was also a really neat idea. I also like that Velma's family has an annual murder mystery party. This is my favorite of your episode ideas yet.

Fred has a fear of having his own traps and the mystery machine turn against him.

Daphne has a fear of seeing what her life would be like if she didn't come from a rich family and become a nerdy unpopular version of herself.

Velma has a fear of getting bad test results.

Shaggy has a fear of being eaten alive by all his favourite foods.

And Scooby has the worst fear of all... a fear of losing the one thing he loves more than anying else.... his friends!

The series was incredibly dark and unsettling. I would say it's my favorite series of the Ghostbusters franchise though. It's an unpopular opinion, but I like it better than Real Ghostbusters.

(America's Spookiest Home Videos!)
Guess starring: (Stephen Colbert) & (Ellen DeGreneres)

In this Season 3 finale... Scooby and the gang are special guests on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to talk about their years of expearience with solving mysteries and reminisce about all the cases they have solved in the past live on national television.

All goes well until a ghostly phantom known as the
(Screenplay Specter) shows up and starts terrorising the studio and it seems to be targeting Mr Colbert himself. It is now up to Mystery Inc to save Stephens reputation and slove their most challenging mystery yet, and they get to do it right in front of a national television audience.

Note #1: Ellen DeGeneres does make a guess appearence in the episode too, but she is conciderd to be a suspect.

Note #2: I originally wanted to make this episode finale a two parter but then I changed my mind.

(Spoiler Alert!) Simone the clown is revealed to be the villain at the end of the episode and she was using Ellen as her (Fall Girl) for her crimes. It is also revealed that Simone is Stephen Colberts daughter in law.

Having the gang reminisce on their past cases is such a fun idea for the last episode, especially given it's entirely in front of a studio audience! I like the reveal of Simone being the Screenplay Specter at the end! It's also a fun detail that Simone is his daughter in law!

Thank you for sharing all these with us, Jakob. There wasn't any episode idea that I didn't like. You did an amazing job with all these!
