Wow, they are really pushing this film. Truly shocking how much effort is going into this, pleasantly surprised

I'm shocked by how much they're promoting this film too, especially since I was pretty convinced for a while that we weren't getting it. Somebody on ScoobyAddicts had an interesting theory about WB being emboldened to release Krypto based off the success of the Barbie movie, whereas they were hesitant before with the debt they were in. Given the movie just came out on Friday and was a huge hit at the box office, it would explain why we're suddenly getting so much content this week.

If that’s the case, I know it won’t happen because we just got Scoob semi-recently, but maybe they should look at this and think we should get another theatrical Scooby Doo release, maybe a more mature one (Zombie Island mature, not Velma mature. Different types of mature) rather than one that is more targeted towards kids than families like Scoob. 7/28/2023 12:50:26 pm
It would be great if Scooby got another theatrical film, especially if it was in the same vein of Zombie Island! I feel like Scoob! got cheated because of the pandemic honestly, I think it would have been a lot bigger if it could have had a huge theatrical release and lots of promotion when it was first released. Obviously that had to happen because of the pandemic and I'm glad they didn't release it in theaters safety-wise, but it was such bad timing that the first Scooby theatrical movie we'd had in almost two decades couldn't be released in theaters. I haven't seen the Barbie movie so I don't really have a comparison point for how that film was.

Scoob definitely got cheated to a certain extent, but I also do not think it would've done extraordinarily well. Certainly not to the extent of something like Barbie. It didn't have the marketing, or frankly, the script to garner up all of that buzz (even if I have no issue with the movie for what it is). Which is a shame because I genuinely believe the Scooby Doo property is capable of an absolute blockbuster, maybe not even in the same way as Barbie, but in the same way as the Mario movie early this year. I'm just not sure we will ever see the acclaimed Scooby Doo blockbuster that I believe is possible, especially under Warner Bros current incompetent leadership 7/28/2023 08:27:38 pm
Completely agreed that Scoob! was never going to do as well as the Barbie film. I just feel it was cheated in the sense that it was almost an afterthought. Its release was treated similarly to a DTV in the sense that it was released on streaming with not too much promotion, then put on DVD shortly after. While I don't think WB could have ever pulled off what they did with Barbie for Scoob!, if it would have gotten a theatrical release, I think there would have been somewhat more buzz around the film, rather being talked about for a month or so and then quickly forgotten.

I don't plan on buying any of them, but I like the one with Scooby, Shaggy and Krypto. The one with Shaggy hugging Scooby in a Superman suit is also kinda cute IMO.
