It seems the sudden leaks of cancelled projects are continuing as today, full storyboard animatic issues showing entire scenes and a song animatic for Mystery Pups were leaked online. The images leaked on 4chan by another anonymous person working at WB, also posting a message "This didn't deserve to be cancelled!" right as they leaked the materials. Someone in the comments of this thread also gave some sad insight that morale is at an all-time low at WB, and that mental health has not been the best for those who are writing and creating projects for WB.
The leaker posted storyboard animatics from episodes 1, 7 and 13, as well as a song from episode 7. The leaked images reveal the puppies' names as Daisy, Zelda, Mac, Gemma, Piper, Duke and Kristi. A character named Dr. Dancy, who appears to be the head camp counselor, are also revealed in the storyboards. The storyboards also reveal that the mysteries were not monster-focused, and were more kiddish mysteries. One storyboard shows that the conclusion to one of the "mysteries" is that a mysterious voice was actually one of the puppies, Duke, singing through a walkie talkie that he forgot he turned on. The song mentions that the camp has something to do with Moose, which may confirm the rumor circulating around the Internet that they were reviving Camp Little Moose from Camp Scare.

Yeah, please don't kill me but not fussed this is cancelled. From viewing the song on twitter, I can see it would likely be very dumbed down due to the target audience, even more so than pup it seems, and wouldn't really interest me and likely other long term fans.

Yeah, the song was...interesting lol. I definitely would have felt talked down to watching the show as an adult if that song is anything to go off of.

I understand why they were making such a season, get kids interested in Scooby earlier as it's pull is waning but the only long term Scooby fans interested would be those with young kids I feel. 3/9/2023 07:48:25 am
Agreed, the song was really aggressively kiddy as was the "mystery" of the mysterious voice we were shown in one of the storyboards, where the conclusion is that one of the puppies forgot their walkie talkie on lol.

It's always depressing to compare 70s era Sesame Street to the shows they make for preschoolers now (though granted, Sesame Street was more mature than a lot of 70s shows aimed at older kids)

Also we got character names and everything. Idk if you noticed but they're not just storyboard screenshot but full on storyboard sequences which can be opened and have more pages. So Velma's equivalent would have been called either Gemma or Zelda, Daphne would have been Daisy or Piper and Fred woulda been Mac. Cute, and the series itself did look cute ngl, wish we could have seen it fully animated

I definitely did not notice that there were more pages or names! Thanks for letting me know about that! I will take a look here once I have time later today and add that to the post.

Frankly, I really fear for the future of the franchise.

Me too, it's really sad that they are cancelling projects left and right like this, and especially sad that they are driving their writers to post leaks online like this.

Personally I think things will get better, when it comes to mergers projects get cancelled because old staff who approved the projects are not their anymore and the new staff don't care for these projects and considering that most of the recently canceled projects were in development before the merger thats probably what happened I don't the cancelations shows that they dislike the franchise but just shows their dislike to those specific projects plus Scooby doo has had many canceled projects before and DC has likely had more. Now this doe's not justify the cancelations at all but I feel like theirs more to these cancelations than just WBD hating the franchise because I don't think that's the case. 3/9/2023 04:49:47 pm
I think you are right, WB is just going through a rough patch right now with the merger and the new leadership. Hopefully things will level off in the next year or so.

Well Jordan and Amber. Some of the next 9 months maybe bleak, But I'm hoping WB will put things right by cancelling less projects.

But since WB.discovery wants to focus on films in the cinema, this would mean that a Scooby film could be in the pipeline.

I think it'd be awesome if we got another theatrical movie! I honestly wonder if they will ever release Holiday Haunt even if WB does get back on its feet. It would be nice if they did, but I'm not sure that they will at this point. I've been advocating for the unreleased episodes to be put on DVD for a long time now, so that would be amazing to see them finally be released. I can kinda understand the hesitation to release the Scrappy shorts and Get a Clue, but some of the unreleased episodes don't make sense, like The Scooby-Doo Show season 2.

Honestly, I would've liked to have given it a go just to see how different it would've been. Y'know, I know it would've been not what we're used to, and I haven't seen all of what's been leaked, but I'm up for anything.

Same for me. Based on the song and the animatics, I think it would have been pretty kiddy and not my favorite Scooby series, but it would have been fun to at least get the chance to see it. I wouldn't have said no or not watched it.

As much as this show would not have been for me in the slightest, it sucks for the team behind it that it will probably never air.

There's a link to the 4channel boards on the previous post, but I don't want the leak directly linked here since I'd rather avoid that legal gray area since we don't know if WB will retaliate or try to have the post taken down.

I noticed that too and thought it was weird! I'm wondering if the other leaked image was an early draft of the show that they changed? Idk.

Some great news for WB Animation is that Batman: Caped Crusader (the animated show I was talking about in a previous post a few days ago) has finally been picked up for 2 seasons by another streaming service (Amazon Prime), after WB decided not to air it on HBO Max as originally planned. As a massive Batman fan, I was really hoping it would get picked up and not left to rot, it sounded like it could be an amazing show, so thank God it has been given new life. And this could bring some hope Mystery Pups may eventually be picked up by someone too. It took over half a year for Batman: Caped Crusader to find a new home since HBO Max said 'fuck off' and removed it from its slate — August 2022 really is when shit went down for WB lol.

Tiny Toons Looniversity is still slated for HBO Max this year: 3/10/2023 04:12:24 am
I know that it's still slated for next year, I just think that it didn't get released last year along with some of the other projects that I've just mentioned. 3/9/2023 04:45:22 pm
Omg, that is such great news! I am really hopeful somebody ends up picking up Mystery Pups.

I checked the storyboards again and you're right. Whoever leaked it put it in the wrong folder. It was leaked via the 4channel boards. Yeah, I could see there being more leaks too if it is not picked up by another distributor.

Does anyone know how many episodes Mystery Pups had to be?
Reply

The amount of episodes was ever revealed, unfortunately. Maybe 26 like most recent Scooby series? The leaked storyboards were from episode 13, so we know there were at least that many episodes.

I'd like to think it was at Camp Little-Big Moose, to at least add some continuity instead of retconning it to the camps being separated.

Heck, they could do that in the pilot, telling the campers the history of the place and maybe drop a few mentions every now and then of the movie. Leave a Reply. |
