In reruns on Cartoon Network, the scene in "The Ghost of the Red Baron" where the Three Stooges get locked in the barn is cut. Typically, when scenes are cut by programmers for commercials, the general rule of thumb is to edit out scenes that are not important to the overall plot. In this case, the cut scene leads to confusion and a massive plot hole, as the viewer is never shown the Three Stooges getting locked in the barn in the first place.

The New Scooby-Doo Movies is my favorite series so I don't agree with that, although this episode in particular could have been cut down to a 20 minute episode and it probably would have been better. The plane scenes were a bit too drawn out IMO.

Personally I'm in the middle. I think Scooby could work really well with 45 min episodes but a lot of these episodes did just have way to much filler and chase scenes and were generally drawn out to fill the episode.

I did make a list on ones I thought could and could be cut to 22 minutes let me know if you agree 3/13/2023 01:50:09 pm
I don't agree on "The Exterminator" and "The Haunted Carnival," but the others I agree could have been cut for time. I liked the zaniness of "A Good Medium Is Rare" so I don't think I'd mind if that stayed the same runtime.

I wholeheartedly disagree overall with a few exceptions. Yes, I think Ghost of the Red Baron could be cut down and made a better episode. I honestly wish A Good Medium Is Rare was EXTENDED so the ending wouldn’t be so rushed. Mystery in Persia I likely wouldn’t care for either way. And I just completely disagree with the other three and Weird Winds, but that’s just me 3/13/2023 02:41:16 pm
I forgot to mention I disagreed with "Weird Winds of Winona" too. I think "A Good Medium Is Rare" could benefit from an extension, but I also wouldn't mind if they cut down on some of the running from the gargoyle to make more time to wrap up the episode.

I'd have to watch some of these before making definite decisions but the Hagglethorn hall episode and the Country Music Hall for sure could have worked in 20 minutes. They lacked enough culprits to be dragged on for longer. 3/14/2023 07:21:35 am
Perhaps an unpopular opinion as I do like the episode, but I think the whole moat monster subplot in "The Haunted Horseman of Hagglethorn Hall" could have been cut and the episode would have been just as good.

I think some of y’all would be surprised at how bad many of these episodes would be at 20 minutes. You may not like the slow burn but the set ups of the episodes requires far more than 20 minutes. MAYBE if you wanted to go with 30 for some, but other than Red Baron, I fully believe most episodes of the series would not only be much worse at 20 minutes, but also just be truly awful at 20 minutes. They would be trying to cram so much in and stuff 3/14/2023 08:54:30 pm
I would argue "Mystery in Persia" and "The Phantom of the Country Music Hall" (I know you won't agree with the latter lol) could have been 20 minutes as well, but none of the others would work as a 20 minute episode. "The Haunted Horseman of Hagglethorn Hall" maybe could be cut down to 20 minutes if they cut out the moat monster, but I also feel like it would be a lot happening if they did that and I think the 40 minute version of that episode was excellent. If I had to choose another episode to be cut down to 20 minutes though, that would be probably be the one.

I would get for Phantom if you wanted to go down to 30, but 20 would not work well at all. No one has to like the episode, but the whole premise is pretty dependent on being a slow burn. If you think that exploring the Hall looking for Jerry is boring, then that’s an opinion, but that plays a big part in what the episode even is, and something like that just can’t be done in such a short amount of time without it being unrealistically rushed 3/15/2023 09:03:56 am
That's a fair point, and I guess another thing I'm not a big fan of about the episode is the lack of villain presence, which would be cut down even more. In hindsight, you're right that it might be challenging to cut it all the way down to 20 minutes. I think 30 would work, though.

This was a decent episode but probably one of my least favorites of the series. However, this is my favorite Scooby-Doo series with a lot of top tier episodes, so it was still great! I liked the Red Baron as the villain as well, and his hopping was pretty funny. I thought the Three Stooges were great guest stars, and I also liked Curly being a pilot. Yeah, it was pretty obvious that Sigfreid was the culprit. The ending was really cute!

Both Three Stooges episodes of The New Scooby-Doo Movies are sensational homages to Moe Howard, Larry Fine and Joe DeRita.
