Fun Fact of the Week #401

Picture
"Scooby on Ice" was not guest star Tara Lipinski's first time in the franchise. She first voiced Grey in "Camp Comeoniwannascareya" from What's New, Scooby-Doo?. "Camp Comeoniwannascareya" also features another notable guest, Taylor Lautner as Dennis, who would later achieve huge fame in the Twilight saga.

Mr. Neither also contributed to this week's fun fact, pointing out that at the pie eating contest scene, a kid with dark brown hair sitting next to Shaggy and Scooby suddenly has his hair color change to blonde within thirty seconds.

ShadowScooby also shares with us that Dennis dresses up as a shark. Ironically, Taylor Lautner played Sharkboy in The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl, which was released the same year this episode came out in 2005.

Camp Comoniwannascareya:
This episode was different but I still pretty much liked it. The idea of Shaggy and Scooby being camp counselors while the gang are solving mysteries elsewhere was a unique plot for this series.

Alex, Jake and Ernie were great stand ins for Fred, Daphne, and Velma. Alex acted like the leader so she reminded me of Fred, Ernie he’s smart and builds gizmos so he reminded me of Velma. I also like that he couldn’t finished a sentence and someone had to help them. Jake I guess he’s nothing like Daphne so you got me on that one.

Dennis reminds me of Red Herring. He dressed up as a bunch of monsters in an effort to scare Shaggy, Scooby, Alex, Jake and Ernie but to no avail until the end when he dressed up like the monster. That just like Red Herring dressing up like a bunch of monsters to scare the gang when they were kids.

The Toxic Terror was a pretty unique villain. The ghost story was pretty intense with him attacking that counselor in Cabin 13. Also anyone else noticed that the counselor in the ghost story looks just like younger Shaggy from the Valentines episode.

It was nice of Shaggy, Scooby and the other kids drsssing up as toxic terrors in helping Grey who was the toxic terror to scare Clyde away so that he would turn the camp into a resort for adults. The ending was nice with the kids playing and Scooby jumping in the pool and Doo on the screen in water form.

I've always appreciated how unique this episode is. I enjoyed Alex, Jake and Ernie, although I will admit Jake could have been developed more as a character as he didn't really have much of a personality. Dennis reminds me of Red Herring as well.

I thought the Toxic Terror was a really cool villain! I also noticed about that counselor looking like young Shaggy from "A Scooby-Doo Valentine."

I thought Shaggy, Scooby and the kids' plan was really neat. It was an interesting twist how Clyde was the bad guy, instead of the Toxic Terror.

I just thought of another fun fact of this episode. Taylor Lunther did the voice for Dennis. One of Dennis’s disguise was a shark. Taylor Lunther played Sharkboy in The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl.

Wow! I had no idea that Tara Lipinski was the voice of Grey from Camp Comeoniwannascareya.

Well mainly because I never knew who she was until now.

Thinking back on the WNSD? episode itself and call me crazy I would say that judging by the tone of voice she given Grey, she sounded like she was at a young age back then.

Tara would have been 22 or 23 back when she recorded her lines for this episode.

What I ment to say was this...

Call me crazy but I would say that judging by the tone of voice she had given Grey.

Glad to be of help again. About the only thing Dennis didn't dress up as in this was a werewolf!

I remember when I found that out about Tara. I wish I knew that beforehand, it would've saved time on having to make corrections on my wiki.

It's interesting, I didn't realize she had been in another episode until recently. I just assumed that "Scooby on Ice!" was her first time ever working with the Scooby franchise.

It's a weird episode. I like it, but it's a weird episode. And it's actually foreshadowing what would happen in Get a Clue. Maybe this was a test. It seems like it, but who knows what were they were thinking.

I've actually always wondered if this was a test to see if audiences would enjoy Shaggy and Scooby on their own. I feel like it may have been, but I'm not sure. I agree it is a very weird episode of WNSD, but I enjoy it for how unique it is.
