A big thanks to John Locke for coming up with this week's fun fact!
When asked why Velma was the only Scooby-Doo character to appear in The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part, director Mike Mitchell claimed that it was because Velma would be the only Scooby-Doo character that could survive an apocalypse. Tricia Gum, who voiced Velma in the film, also said that they wanted to go with someone other than Shaggy and Scooby for the obscurity of it.

According to a rumor which I came upon which source I prefer not to name here, since their is no hard evidence to back-up this person's claim, The Velma spinoff is coming in 2023. it Will be a miniseries as opposed to a full show.

Interesting. I'm looking forward to seeing the series next year. Honestly, if they approached this like the Mystery Incorporated fan series, I could see fan reception to this being positive. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Yeah, I'd honestly prefer it to be a shorter series like that. I have no good reason why except the fact I'm just purely not really excited about it from what we've heard already, personally. 2023 sounds very likely, just what I've been assuming the release year would probably be. But I'll not get ahead of myself since they're still just rumors.

I still say the rest of the gang could have survived! Though I get the reasoning by not just having scooby again.

The fact that they used the word “obscurity” when talking about the members other than Scooby or Shaggy, is kinda sad. I get that Scooby and Shaggy are the comedy duo and they rely on their scared antics, but the rest of the gang is important too lol!!

Aww yeah, I agree. The other members of the gang don't feel obscure to me, but I suppose maybe they just meant if a member of the gang makes a cameo in a non-Scooby production, it's usually Scooby or Shaggy.
