There are two different versions of "The Haunted Horseman of Hagglethorn Hall" from The New Scooby-Doo Movies. The DVD version shows an animation error where you can see the gang somehow on the other side of the door; however the TV version has this cropped out. You can also see how different the resolution looks in the remastered DVD version!

Interesting. The resolution difference is especially interesting. It is always nice to see these episodes look better, but I also kinda like when they look like they do on the tv example there for some reason. Feels oddly warm and nostalgic

Doesn't sound like the TV version is correcting it if it simply is being cut off. More like hiding the mistake.

Hard to say, if it was never intended to be seen then there was no reason to fix the mistake, or they may have left it in cause it didn't mean cause it was never meant to be seen, like when they updated older films for dvd/blu ray and the up in resolution also highlights mistakes that were never gonna be seen at the previous level (the dvd release of Raiders of the Lost Arc always comes to mind where you can clearly see the window between the cobra and indy when the lightning flashes in that scene) 2/28/2022 07:35:47 pm
I was also thinking more along the lines of what John Locke said. I'm betting what probably happened is they didn't bother to fix it because they never foresaw releasing it in a different resolution (as obviously they would have had no reason to back then). Idk though.

Things people don't remember about CRT tvs is there was a bit that... was never shown on the screen, so there was a small bit of wiggleroom in what you worked with. It's also why when you digitize tapes for the full resolution you get a line that's annoying at the top or bottom border cause you're getting the caption data if there is any. 3/1/2022 01:26:08 am
