Surprisingly, "Spooky Space Kook" from Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? is one of the episodes that has the least amount of re-releases from the series. Anyone who keeps up with physical home media released saw that number one coming LOL. But yeah I always found it weird as well. Especially the fact that it didn’t get a VHS release when almost every other episode of the series did

Haha yep. And YES! I've always found it super weird that "Spooky Space Kook" never was released on VHS, given it's one of the most popular/iconic episodes of the original series.

it was the last episode I remember ever catching, it just never seemed to be in rotation, I wondered for a bit if it was held back out of.... concerns it was too scary or something and just not really shown often (could be, the design is probably the most "frightening" of all the original creatures from WAY, though thinking of it, the red flashing could have also held it back as an epilepsy thing) Never found confirmation but I wouldn't be surprised either way.

Oh wow, that's interesting it was rarely in rotation! And you watched on the USA Network like I did, right? I could see them holding it back if there were concerns it was too frightening, as the Space Kook is a very terrifying villain. I suppose it could be an epilepsy issue too, but I'd imagine if that were the issue, they'd just remove it from rotation entirely.

I was a bit too young to regularly watch USA but I have recordings from then, mostly I watched on Cartoon Network. I say rarely cause I think I caught it at least once, but I don't remember when, it could have been when they did the full series run through on the "Scooby doo project" or maybe I just caught it randomly. But yea, it's just a feeling I have, whether it's tru or not or if there's a reason or not I really can't say. 1/18/2022 04:03:52 am
Oh gotcha. I feel like I had it on the tapes my parents recorded for me, but I think it's definitely possible they held it back due to concerns it was too scary. 1/18/2022 08:32:02 pm
I wish the next Scooby-Doo movie was a Three Stooges crossover
