Being a Scooby fan himself, Freddie Prinze Jr. was initially reluctant to join the cast of the live action Scooby-Doo movie, because he felt it wouldn't live up to the rest of the franchise. He only decided to officially join the cast after Sarah Michelle Gellar, who was also his real-life girlfriend, talked him into it.

I was actually a bit surprised to hear that myself. I actually didn't know this either until a few days ago when I researched it.

I had also meant to include a link for people to read further on some of the behind-the-scenes stuff from the live action films, but I absent-mindedly forgot to add it in when I posted it this morning :P. The link is added now. Quite a few cool things that even I didn't know in that article! And you'll notice it's where I got a few of the most recent fun facts from (i.e. the Scooby's "R" speech impedement one, the one about Velma's catchphrase, etc.) :)

Just read all the facts, some were quite interesting, other ones I knew, but I can't stand those theories about Shaggy doing drugs. It just messes up my childhood.

The Shaggy doing drugs theories drive me insane as well. The one about Shaggy being a vegetarian since Where Are You also seems like a bit of a stretch to me. The very fact that they used the phrase "if you assume that all the meat we see Shaggy consume is vegetarian alternatives" makes it sound a bit made up.

I agree that the other facts were quite interesting, though I knew most of them as well.
