Hello again everyone and welcome to day 2 of our fan profiles!
Today with us is SDF, an avid Scooby fan who comments regularly on this site. Earlier this year, the two of us also collaborated on a Scooby-Doo Continuity Order, to divide up which episodes were most likely in the main canon, and which were in some other canon. Here’s SDF’s profile: 1. What is your name? My username is SDF {acronym of Scooby Doo Fan} and my real name is John. 2. How did you get into Scooby-Doo? I was about 7 or 8 years old. My mother tried to find a way to keep me busy so she told me ''Hey Star {A Greek channel} has a nice cartoon named scooby doo. It's about mysteries and supernatural you will love it''. So I gave it a try. It was "A Frightened Hound Meets Demons Underground" from The Scooby Doo Show. I loved the mystery elements of the show so I started watching it every weekend. Slowly I discovered more material and became a full scooby addict by the age of 10. 3. What is your favorite Scooby-Doo episode and film? Why? My favorite Scooby movie is Scooby Doo Meets the Boo Brothers. It has a dark tone, a great mystery storyline and some funny moments too. The fact that we don't know for sure which monsters are real or not is great and makes the movie more interesting. As for my favorite episode I have to go with ''What a Night for a Knight'' cause it started everything and I can see it again and again. 4. What ways are you involved in the Scooby fandom online? Sadly my involvement in the online fandom isn't great. I write comments in your articles and I visit some sites like ScoobyAddicts without participating. That will change in the near future I hope. 5. In your opinion, what is the best series or era of Scooby? My generation's series is What's New Scooby Doo? But I must be objective. I believe the 1969-1978 era is the best with the first 3 series which are all amazing. 6. If they could make a sequel to one Scooby-Doo series or film, what would it be? Hmm tough question. I would like to see a proper sequel to 13 Ghosts, Zombie island, Boo Brothers, Goblin King and Reluctant Werewolf. Sorry I couldn't just pick one. 7. What direction would you like to see the franchise go in the future? I would like the franchise return to its roots with classic animation and some great mysteries. And avoid 3D animation for sure. 8. Who is your favorite member of the gang and why? Another tough question. I like all of them but I think Shaggy is my favorite. He is funny and clumsy but most important a great friend. He also saved the day many times with the most silly ways. These are enough reasons to love him. 9. What is your favorite villain? Why? My favorite villain is Professor Pericles. The cleverest villain of the franchise by far. He has all the ingredients of a great bad guy. Plus he is very creepy. 10. In your opinion, who is the best recurring (non-gang) character in the franchise? Vincent Van Ghoul. He was such a great character in the original 13 Ghosts series. 11. Do you have a Scooby-Doo collection? If so, what’s in it? I have almost every Greek DVD, some figures, a Scooby Doo video game console and a board game. 12. What do you think has made the franchise so popular that it’s still going strong after 50 years? I believe it's the formula. Kids love a good mystery show with some humour. Also the producers always find a way to show us the same formula with refreshing changes like Be Cool Scooby Doo etc. Scooby has a great fanbase and will go on for many more years. 13. What is one fun fact about you in real life? As I said before I like mysteries myself. So I like visiting haunted places with friends and make my own investigations for paranormal activities, ghosts etc. 14. Please feel free to share anything else you’d like to here! Thank you for the questions it was a great time. Also let's hope Scooby makes it till his 100th anniversary. Thanks so much again to SDF for his responses! Feel free to leave him a comment in the section below.
