For today's fun fact, to celebrate SCOOB! Week, we have a very special guest writer with us. Michael Kurinsky, the production designer for SCOOB!, is with us today to share this week's fun fact!
"Scooby-Doo and Hanna Barbera fans will need to do many repeat viewings to catch all the Easter eggs we hid in the film. As for my fun fact, I did all the scratch dialogue for Shaggy throughout the making of the movie!" Thanks so much to Michael for taking time out of his busy schedule to write this! A very common trope in Scooby-Doo is that real skeletons will suddenly become animate for no reason as a brief gag, even though they are not the main villain. For example, in the above picture (which is not necessarily the correct answer, but it could be), a skeleton in a trench coat talks to Shaggy and Scooby, but the skeleton is not the main villain of the episode. What is the first episode in which a real skeleton (one that can't be explained, for example, by a trip wire) appears?
The correct answer to yesterday's question was 7! The real monsters in SDMI are the Conquistador Ghost (Night on Haunted Mountain), the Ghost of Abigail Gluck (The Midnight Zone), the Mummy of Friar Serra (Theater of Doom), the Monstrous Freak (Nightmare in Red), the Rock Monster (Through the Curtain), Evil Annunkai Minions (Through the Curtain & Come Undone) and the Evil Entity (Wrath of the Krampus, Stand and Deliver, Through the Curtain and Come Undone). Here's our leaderboard so far: Samuel Kirkwood: 1 Peralaan: 1 Drakosleuth: 1 Results for last week's poll (Sadly, Don did Knott win):
Which of the New Scooby-Doo Movies guest stars was your favorite? Harlem Globetrotters - 17 Batman and Robin - 9 Don Knotts - 5 Dick Van Dyke - 4 Laurel and Hardy - 4 Josie and the Pussycats - 4 The Addams Family - 3 Sonny and Cher - 3 Jonathan Winters - 3 Three Stooges - 1 Phyllis Diller - 1 Davy Jones - 1 Jerry Reed - 1 Speed Buggy - 1 Tim Conway - 0 Cass Elliot - 0 Sandy Duncan - 0 Jeannie and Babu - 0 How many real monsters were in Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated?
Leave your answer in the comments and I will reveal the correct answer after posting tomorrow's question! Even though we sadly won't be able to see SCOOB! in theaters this Friday, and it has become a direct-to-video film, I still wanted to do something special to mark the occasion. This week is SCOOB! Week here on the blog, so I'll be posting tons of new content, including:
Daily Polls Since it seemed like everyone really enjoyed the daily polls a few weeks ago when I asked about favorite portrayals of the gang, it made me curious as to who people's favorite live action portrayals were. Each day for the next four days, there will be a poll asking who people's favorite live-action actor was for each character (not including Scooby, as he was still animated...talking dogs are really hard to cast, I hear). The first poll will be posted tomorrow, and I will reveal the results to all polls on Friday, when SCOOB! comes out. You can also choose to vote either on the blog or on Twitter. Trivia Competition For fun, each day this week, I'll be posting a trivia question about Scooby. Simply answer the trivia question in the comments, and I will reveal the correct answer when I post the next day's question. I know most of you on the site are Scooby super fans, so these are not going to be easy questions like "What year did Scooby first air?" or "What is Shaggy's real name?" These are very difficult questions for the Scooby super fans that ask for obscure details from various Scooby series and films, so I'm excited to see how everyone does! Whoever gets the most correct will get to write the site's 25th weekly poll (May 17-23)! Fun Fact of the Week As usual on Monday, I'll be posting a fun fact...maybe with a special surprise! :) I hope you enjoy the week of content, and that you're looking forward to SCOOB! as much as I am!
Check out these two brand new SCOOB! promos that have surfaced online today! Thank you to ScoobyDooUK and SpiderScooby (on Twitter) for sharing these with me! And check out this new test footage from the movie! And be sure to watch this new sneak peek from Cartoon Network!
With the COVID-19 pandemic, all DC Comics were delayed in shipping due to mass printing facilities being shut down. Now that some of these facilities are allowed to reopen, DC Comics has released an updated version of their June solicitations. These solicitations include Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? #104, pushed back from April 15. Because of the delay in publishing #104, DC has postponed #105 from its original June 17 date. A new date has not been announced yet, but it will likely be delayed a full month or two until DC is able to print and release the backlog of comics that built up over the past two months of shutdowns.
Note that #104 is now being released June 2, which is a Tuesday, as opposed to its typical Wednesday date. Here is the updated solicitation for Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? #104: SCOOBY-DOO, WHERE ARE YOU? #104 written by SHOLLY FISCH art and cover by SCOTT JERALDS Usually, when skateboarders talk about a “gremlin,” they mean a skateboarding newbie. But not when the death-defying extreme sports of the Z-Games are sabotaged by a gremlin that seems all too real! Who’s really behind the boarding bogeyman? To solve the mystery, Scooby and the gang will have to trade in the Mystery Machine for kickflipping, nosegrinding skateboards of their own. Can their sick tricks help the gang unmask the gremlin...before Scooby and Shaggy wipe out once and for all? ON SALE 06.02.20 $2.99 US | 32 PAGES FC | DC You can view the other non-Scooby DC Comics being released in June on Newsarama. Update 5/7: Wal-Mart now has removed the July 21 date and replaced it with a December 30 release date. All DVDs are typically released on Tuesdays, but December 30 is a Wednesday, so I am unsure on whether to trust Walmart's new date or not.
According to the official Walmart.com site, SCOOB! will be releasing on DVD and Blu-Ray on July 21. No DVD cover info or special features have been revealed yet, however, a free digital copy of the film will be available with purchase. You can pre-order the film at the above links now. |
