Our results for last week's poll were kind of weird, because our winner only got four votes in total! It seems there was no real consensus for which setting was the best, and votes were all over the place. Also, since there are 99 options, I'm not going type out a list of all the options that got no votes and I'm only including the episodes that were voted for. If it's not on this list, it means that nobody voted for it.
A Fit Night Out for Bats - 4 Scooby's Luck of the Irish - 3 Alaskan King Coward - 3 Swamp Witch - 2 Waxworld - 2 The Old Cat and Mouse Game - 2 Soggy Bog Scooby - 2 Moonlight Madness - 2 A Fright at the Opera - 2 The Maltese Mackerel - 2 Scooby Ghosts West - 1 A Close Encounter with a Strange Kind - 1 Mummy's the Word - 1 Scooby's Three Ding A Ling Circus - 1 Scooby's Bull Fright - 1 Scooby at the Center of the World - 1 Lighthouse Keeper Scooby - 1 Scooby Saves the World - 1 Punk Rock Scooby - 1 Scooby and the Beanstalk - 1 Double Trouble Date - 1 Comic Book Caper - 1 Scooby-Doo and Genie Poo - 1 Captain Canine Caper - 1 The Incredible Cat Lady Caper - 1 Up a Crazy River - 1 Snow Job Too Small - 1

I was debating between voting this and "Wedding Bell Boos," but I think I'm going to go with the latter for its amazing New England setting.

As I've said in the past, there are two Scooby series that I mostly don't like at all.

I find many of the episodes in this series to be a bit mediocre as well. The New Scooby-Doo Mysteries is a bit better for me, but I still wouldn't put it among my favorite series.

NSDMy is by far better imo, half of the episodes are absolute top tier 26-minute episodes with Fred and/or Velma. Doesn't compare to NS&SDS, and I'm saying this as someone who enjoys the 11-minute episodes of these shows. 4/2/2023 02:25:59 pm
The 22-minute episodes are much better for me too, but the 11-minute episodes, while mostly better, are just a step above this series for me. The pop culture references make The New Scooby-Doo Mysteries more interesting, but not significantly more interesting than the 11-minute episodes of this series IMO.

It is much closer for me but New Scooby Doo Mysteries also prevails for me. NSDMy gets the edge in number of 22 minute episodes, but the average quality of the two series for them is about the same. Especially considering I would put Wedding Bell Boo’s as the best episode of either series while Ancient Astronauts, while good, is my least favorite 22 minute episode from either series. 4/2/2023 05:32:41 pm
"A Halloween Hassle at Dracula's Castle" will always be my favorite 22 minute episode from this era, and "Wedding Bell Boos" is probably third, after "The Nutcracker Scoob."

I kinda disagree with the last point. Personally, I would absolutely put Scooby’s Gold Medal Gambit and No Thanks Masked Manx as standouts as those two are easily near the same level for me, especially the former, and obviously Crazy Carnival Caper isn’t at that level in an objective sense, I definitely have a strong soft spot for that one as well 4/2/2023 09:03:54 pm
It's been a while since I've watched them. I guess "No Thanks Masked Manx" is kind of a standout, but I don't really feel that way about "Scooby's Gold Medal Gambit" even if it is a good episode.

I absolutely find Gold Medal Gambit to be a standout. Granted, in a different way than most episodes of these two series. I just find it to be one of the most fun episodes of the entire 80s up until A Pup Named Scooby Doo. The humor is spot on, the plot is fun overall, it is a nice change of pace 4/3/2023 01:23:57 pm
I may have to watch it again as it's been a while. I remember liking the goofiness of it but I wouldn't have considered it a candidate for a standout like I've heard a lot of folks say here and elsewhere.

For me it's the "Wedding Bell Boos" episode.

My vote is the same. It is really strange to me that "Wedding Bell Boos" has been released on VHS, but never on DVD.

Ah yes. For as much fun as I admittedly had with the last poll, it is good to take a big step in quality this time away from the storm of mediocrity (and in some places, a storm of WTF). I’ll be honest, this series has grown on me a lot, not quite as good as the next series due to some blaring inconsistencies (and ONE trainwreck of an episode that we WILL get to), but overall, a good series and a nice step up with some pretty cool settings in here

The series has grown on me as well; still not quite as good as the 2-parters from The New Scooby-Doo Mysteries though. My vote goes to "Wedding Bell Boos" for the excellent New England setting, however, "Scoobygeist" is very close for me as well. I'd say "The Hound of the Scoobyvilles" would be third for me too.

Our lists are very, very similar lol 4/2/2023 05:25:05 pm
Yeah, they were super similar this time! Just a few things were a bit higher or lower than you had put them. Eh, "Scooby Doo and Cyclops Too" just isn't interesting to me in any way. I don't feel the setting was utilized well and it has never been one of those novelty weird episodes to me; it's weird in a bad way. I considered putting "Hound of the Scoobyvilles" in my excellent tier at first, but I don't think it reaches the same level of iconic that "Scoobygeist" or "Wedding Bell Boos" does.

Well I completely agree with your reasoning with Cyclops as an episode, but as a setting it just doesn’t stand out as offensive to me. Because I kinda like the stormy sky look of the episode. It isn’t a great setting, and the episode is terrible, but if there was going to be something to find redeemable about the episode, I would find it to be the setting. That doesn’t reflect well on it because the setting is only in the meh tier, but I mean, the episode is pretty bad 4/2/2023 09:02:31 pm
That's fair, the setting's not that great for me and doesn't really redeem the episode in any way IMO. Ironically, I feel the way you do about Cyclops Too with "Wizards and Warlocks." The episode itself isn't that good but the castle setting is at least interesting, even if it's not anywhere close to the best castle setting in the franchise. Even "Scooby's Luck of the Irish" was way better than this castle.

Well, it’s not exactly the same as you put Wizards and Warlocks in good and I have Cyclops Too in meh. My point with Cyclops is that I don’t find the setting bad, not that I find it good

I’m going Scoobygiest. The setting was incredible. It would’ve been better if it was a longer episode.

Agreed! I think it would be cool if they could make a movie length adaption of that episode!
