If you scrolled this far, thank you lol. There are 99 options in this week's poll, so we have quite a few to say the least haha. I decided to combine both Scrappy shorts series (The Richie Rich/Scooby-Doo Hour and The Scooby & Scrappy-Doo Puppy Hour), since we're already going to be doing this poll series until the end of June because there's so many series lol. I thought this would be an easy way to speed things up a bit since they are very similar shows.
Here are the results from last week's poll on the best Scooby and Scrappy-Doo Show setting: The Ghoul, The Bat and the Ugly - 8 The Night Ghoul of Wonderworld - 7 The Scarab Lives - 7 The Neon Phantom of the Roller Disco! - 6 The Ransom of Scooby Chief - 4 Shiver and Shake, That Demon's a Snake! - 2 The Hairy Scare of the Devil Bear - 2 Twenty Thousand Screams Under the Sea - 2 Rocky Mountain Yiiiii! - 2 The Sorcerer's a Menace - 2 The Scary Sky Skeleton - 1 I Left My Neck in San Francisco - 1 When You Wish Upon a Star Creature - 1 0 votes: Strange Encounters of a Scooby Kind, The Demon of the Dugout, Lock the Door It's a Minotaur!

Geez I would like to get tiers out immediately, but this is going to take some time lol. Especially because I don’t remember all of the settings off the top of my head

Lol it will probably take me a bit of time too given there's 99. I plan to rank them on a curve, since even my top tier isn't going to be anywhere near what it was for any of the previous series. The short runtime just doesn't allow for any substantial exploration of the setting.

He has an even angrier face later, again featuring some sass from Daphne and Shaggy too

Wait sorry this is going to be the link, I copied your link and had it in the paste lol: 3/26/2023 12:36:54 pm
Lol! You're right, his face does look even angrier and more disapproving in your screenshot haha.

Good thing those anger management classes did their job by the time of season 2.

For the gang’s sake, it is a very good thing lol. But I still miss Sassy Fred lmao 3/26/2023 12:37:32 pm
Sassy Fred is a hidden gem from season 1 but I agree it was probably better for the gang's sake that he sought help in between seasons haha.

Ae, man, I'm kinda disappointed that shows were lumped together because I think that they are different enough. Oh, well.

I'm not at all sad they got lumped together, because they quite literally should be lumped together. They are the same show, they're not two separate shows; it's officially Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo (1980-1982) — not to be confused with Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo (1979-1980).

I would say there are differences, but I also like that we are just getting all of this out of the way in one turn lol 3/26/2023 12:44:03 pm
Sorry about that, Jacob. I guess I could have split them up, but they seemed similar enough to me to mix together. "A Fit Night Out for Bats" and "Snow Job Too Small" are among my favorite settings of the series as well!

Those differences aren't really significant enough to split them, especially when Scooby-Doo itself doesn't even split them into 2 series. We all refer to '80-'82 as just the Scrappy shorts for short (pun not intended), which inherently piles them into one entity.

Oddly enough, I haven’t made my rankings, but this may be one of the few times Jacob and I have the same vote. I don’t think much of the episode itself, but I always appreciated the atmosphere and setting in The Maltese Mackerel for some reason. Not really sure why all of that is, but I am seriously considering this one for my vote

The dock definitely has an eerie feel that stands out from some of the other settings, but I wouldn't say it's among my favorites personally. It's admittedly been a while since I've watched it though.

I haven't taken the time to write up my rankings yet but I know my vote is going to "A Fit Night Out for Bats." "Scooby at the Center of the World" is kind of a weird setting IMO in the sense it's literally the guys having a picnic in a dark cave with bats haha.

I mean, this is the same series where one of the best episodes is Surprised Spies and Shaggy and the dogs are just randomly wandering through a police HQ or whatever it was, so I don’t expect the settings to make too much sense lmao 3/26/2023 02:08:00 pm
True lol. "Scooby at the Center of the World" stands out as particularly weird to me, because I wouldn't think it would be the most enjoyable or sanitary to have a picnic in a bat-infested cave haha.

@Wildwind, that weirdness helps it stand out a bit more imo. The caves themselves are pretty decent 3/26/2023 05:34:04 pm
That's fair, I remember them being pretty decent for that series as well. I haven't seen a lot of these in a while so it puts me at a disadvantage for remembering them.

I think I've got my list of rankings all finished. As I mentioned in my reply to Matt above, it's a bit on a curve since even the "great" and "good" tiers aren't nearly as good as what's in previous series.

So a lot of this is just going based off of memory (because there’s no need to watch many of these again) so some might be inaccurate placements, and this is me being NICE and trying to put it into context of the series, and it’s still about to get ugly

I feel like I was a bit generous for some of them, but I'd defend a few you didn't have in your Good or Great tiers. I thought the pyramid in "Mummy's the Word" was kinda cool, particularly the creepy stair scene. "Canine to Five" was also kind of a cool creepy lab, and it had the Scooby Dooby Doors scene which was a nice nod to the original formula. Similarly, "Swamp Witch" is kinda reminiscent of the original formula and I like the creepy witch's house. "Scooby's Trip to Atlantis" is there purely due to the strangeness and uniqueness of that setting. "Scooby's Luck of the Irish" was kind of fun with the Irish castle, even if them making each of the rooms a parody of the Price Is Right was kind of a dumb way to execute it. As a setting itself though, I appreciate it for what it is and consider it one of the better settings in the series.

I actually don’t think I even ranked Trip to Atlantis lol, would probably go in good 3/27/2023 07:38:23 am
I didn't remember that they used the same beach animation, but yeah, you know it's pretty horrible when even the animation in Ghastly Goals is better than that lol.

Also, I'll be honest, I have no idea at the moment if the WTF tier will come back up again, it's not often that a setting makes me that furious
Matt

Btw, this is what the beach looks like in one of the first scenes of Strongman Scooby: 3/27/2023 01:25:33 pm
Wow, I didn't remember there being that much of a quality drop in the setting but that is horrible! I know I said a couple weeks ago that it would be hard to make a worst setting list, but those two would easily be on there lol. I would honestly probably move "Scooby's Fun Zone" and "Strongman Scooby" to WTF tier based on that. I am not the greatest artist myself so I am not one to criticize others' art, but tbh that is just plain lazy.
Matt

I’ll give a little more credit to Strongman Scooby as they at least TRIED to make a beach setting beyond that, it kinda strikes me as something that they were rushed into inserting something because it was only for like 3 seconds, but I wanted to put Strongman Scooby into the Great tier because of the pool and the silliness of the setting, but that was why I was weary and had to put it in the Okay tier 3/27/2023 06:18:07 pm
That's fair, "Strongman Scooby" is a tough one to rank because the setting is really bad, both in terms of the beach and the gym, but with moments like the shark/passageway to the ocean in the pool, it falls into the "so bad it's funny" category for me. On further thought, I think I'll move "Scooby's Fun Zone" to the WTF tier whereas "Strongman Scooby" stays in the meh tier.
Matt
3/28/2023 12:17:20 am
Yeah, Strongman Scooby is kind of in the "So bad it's good/funny" camp for me as well whereas Scooby's Fun Zone is in the "So bad it's just... WTF" territory for me lmao 3/26/2023 06:47:04 pm
I just looked at the current results, and no option has more than two votes right now. Nothing is showing any signs of being in the lead which is unusual (since the majority of votes usually come in on Sundays when the polls are posted), so it will be really interesting to see what the results end up being.

Because I voted for it in the last poll, I'm glad (and somewhat surprised) that Ransom of Scooby Chief secured fifth place. I thought I might have been the only one to pick it due to the feelings of animosity it brings to some.

I’m going for a fit night out for bats. Other slicks of mine would be Moonlight Madness or Where’s The Werewolf.

I was like, "I think I might need the random number generator for this one", then saw Scooby in Wonderland and was like, I remember that one, it wasn't the greatest episode but I'll vote for it anyway as I actually somewhat remember it.

While it's not my favorite, I liked that setting too. It was fun how they explored all the classic Alice in Wonderland settings and I felt they did a decently good job with it.

A full length Scooby Doo movie themed around Alice in Wonderland could be quite interesting. 3/28/2023 06:22:52 am
It would be amazing to get a Scooby film like this! Now, the trick is to just be able to get a Scooby film period without it being cancelled lmao.

Oh definitely, right now all WB are doing is attempting to milk a dead cow by attempting to make money of already released films and tv.

Yep, that's right! :) I'm honestly not sure now if it was a lighthouse keeper's ghost or a sailor ghost. Looks more like the former to me, but honestly it could be either with the hat. https://scoobysnaxepguides.weebly.com/uploads/1/3/2/2/13221939/published/1448298819.png
