So I'm sure the first question everyone is going to have is how I saw this episode. While I wish I could share the link with you all, I've been given the link by a friend from HBO Spain, and I was unfortunately told I can not share it similarly to what happened with the second half of Guess Who last March. I'm really sorry I can't share the link so you all can watch it, but I hope everyone knows that I absolutely would if I could. I'm more than happy to answer any questions about the episode (or provide any screenshots of that missing section from the Turkey recording) if anyone wants. I'm really hoping the episode airs very soon so everyone can watch it! Nonetheless, I wanted to review it since I've seen it, and I will keep this review spoiler free and not reveal the culprit since I know no one else has seen it.
I really liked this episode! Carol was definitely a very animated guest star who felt like she played a big role in the episode. I'll admit I haven't seen three out of the four movies the gang (virtually) were in, so I didn't have anything really to say about the first three films - Casablanca, The Searchers, and A Night at the Opera other than the settings were cool. I have seen The Wizard of Oz, though, and I felt like they did an amazing job with parodying that film. I thought Daphne's voice being different when she was Dorothy was pretty cool, and I also thought it was interesting how they had both Carol and Daphne be Dorothy in the film.
I think this villain was one of my favorites of the entire series. The glowing blue eyes and the fact it could shapeshift was amazing! The villain's name, though, was the absolute worst of the series, and possibly of the franchise. The villain is called "The Ghost Monster" which is just such a cringey and unoriginal name for such a cool monster.
Having seen this last episode, I can definitely say that the voice actor episode should have been last. I get what they were going for here: a tribute to classic movies of sorts, because Guess Who is comprised of television and movie stars, but the voice actor one still felt like it would have been a more special one to make the finale. Carol singing her trademark goodbye song from her TV show was really sweet though, and is likely another reason they put this one last.
The episode did kind of feel a lot like "A Run Cycle Through Time!" pacing-wise. Cramming four different movies into 20 minutes didn't do the parodies as much justice as they could have done. It felt a little rushed, but not horrible. The Wizard of Oz one felt like a perfect amount of time, so maybe the fact that I hadn't seen the other three films influenced how I saw the pacing.
I liked this episode a lot, but it's definitely not top 10 material for me, so I'm going to place it at #17/50.

They've already spoiled the culprits on scoobypedia anyway, motive is pretty lame tbh
6/2/2021 09:04:58 am
Yeah, it wasn't the best motive. I didn't mention it in the review because I didn't want to ruin it.
6/2/2021 05:37:40 am
It’s so cool that you got to see this episode early. Hope we get to see it soon.
6/2/2021 09:05:19 am
Thank you! :)
6/2/2021 09:19:12 am
The ones who live in europe have seen it. the real question is when will it come to the us.
6/2/2021 09:26:46 am
**Cries in Brexit**
6/2/2021 09:33:46 am
@Bigscoobydoofan Hahaha I really hope you guys get the episode soon :(
6/2/2021 09:29:11 am
Don't agree with posting reviews when hardly anyone's watched it. They just seem to get lost among the other posts before I get chance to read them when I watch the episode, oh well.
6/2/2021 09:32:44 am
I remember that you mentioned that with the second half of season 2 as well. Sorry you don't agree with it. I guess my main motivation for doing it is to get the info out there for anyone who wants it, and in both cases I was actually asked by the person who gave me the link to post a review. I'm definitely not trying to brag about seeing the episode before anyone else, so I hope it doesn't come off that way. I'd absolutely give you all a link if I could. I can always pin the post to the top of the blog when the Drive link comes out.
6/3/2021 11:51:19 am
No worries, I just feel it would be better for you also to not have to try and hide spoilers in your review and to be able to discuss it with as many other people as possible. Totally your choice, but just feels a little redundant and disappointing to us who haven't seen it when done this way.
6/3/2021 02:20:48 pm
It's definitely something I'm conflicted about too, because I think people do want to know about it, but at the same time you're right that posting it later would allow more discussion. For this particular one, I didn't really feel like I had to hide anything about the culprit. It's not some amazing reveal that really needed to be discussed, and all I would have said if this were a normal review likely would have just been "the culprit was easy to guess for me" or something like that.
6/2/2021 09:56:29 am
Samuel this is is not true many people have seen it on cable tv thanks to boomerang.
6/2/2021 11:09:06 am
You're correct, but I'd define the episode as being widely available when anyone who wants to watch it can see it through a link (or streaming service), so I get his point.
6/2/2021 10:59:16 am
Wait a minute...You have not reviewed the Blue Falcon episode or the Reverend Run episode yet.
6/2/2021 11:10:07 am
I don't have access to those at the moment. The Carol Burnett one is the only one I've seen that everyone else hasn't.
6/3/2021 04:24:08 pm
Some good news, all of us should be getting a link to the Carol Burnett one today or tomorrow. I was able to ask the person where I got this if it could uploaded to a Drive link, and they said yes, so Peralaan's uploading it as we speak. I should be able to provide Peralaan with the final two episodes (which I haven't seen yet), which are almost positively coming within the next week as well.
6/3/2021 05:01:54 pm
That’s wonderful news can’t wait.
6/3/2021 07:07:52 pm
As Wildwind said, thanks to him and his friend I have the episode for everyone.
6/3/2021 07:26:53 pm
6/3/2021 10:05:33 pm
Now that I finally watched the episode, I'd say this was one of the weirder episodes. I loved the "ghost" monster's design, mainly because it looked kinda like the grim reaper. On the other hand, not a fan of that oh so creative name. I can't say I liked or disliked Carol; on a positive note, she seemed really interested in the role. On the negative, her acting like all the lead roles kinda got in the way of her own personality. Other than that, I just want to point out sadistic the trap was. One drop I get, but that was a bit much.
6/3/2021 10:56:01 pm
Ha! Yeah, the name sucked. Carol did seem super into her role which made me like her. The trap was a little sadistic lol. I really liked the ghost's design too (I refuse to call it that stupid name haha), and it's easily one of my favorites of the show.
6/4/2021 06:59:43 am
Saw the episode this morning and I really liked it. This episode really gave me a cyber chase vibe. Carol Burnet was a very fun and entertaining guest star. The Monster was super cool. I also like that Which Witch is Which reference.
6/4/2021 09:22:10 am
I thought about cyber chase in this episode. Very similar, but I don't think they are a copy of each other which was good. I also noticed the which witch is which reference!
6/4/2021 09:55:47 am
It gave me a little Cyber Chase vibes too, as well a little bit of "E-Scream" vibes.
6/4/2021 07:53:20 am
I truly did enjoy this episode!
6/4/2021 09:54:25 am
My comment about the pacing could have been because I hadn't seen 3 of those movies. I felt the Wizard of Oz was paced fine, which I've seen, I just thought the other three felt a little rushed.
6/4/2021 09:13:01 am
Bizarre but brilliant, really enjoyed this one! 8/50 on my list. The lack of culprits was the only real issue.
6/4/2021 09:40:24 am
Agreed, it was very easy to guess who it was.
6/4/2021 09:48:14 am
What format is The TV And Movieland Monsters episode in please. what I mean is it in MKV, MP4, or WMV format I noticed it did not have a extension name, on GD which is why I am asking.
6/4/2021 09:56:49 am
It's in MP4 unless Peralaan somehow changed the file extension.
6/4/2021 11:32:17 am
6/5/2021 06:52:31 pm
I just watched this episode today and I must say it was amazing and a very touching way to end the series Overall.
6/5/2021 07:35:39 pm
Yah I say that this episode is a good way to finish off the series. Like everyone that worked on this series had fun and just like that it’s over. I like it when shows have a finale like that.
6/5/2021 07:38:14 pm
Also about the villains name, I hate it. I don’t care that that’s the name they settled on, I’m calling it the Hologram Monster.
6/5/2021 08:12:47 pm
I call it the ghost virus
6/6/2021 02:25:10 am
I haven't watched the episode yet, what's the monster called in it?
6/6/2021 10:51:57 am
@Becker It's called the "Ghost Monster" lol.
6/6/2021 02:38:45 pm
Wow, the originality in that name goes beyond what the human mind can fathom lmao
6/6/2021 10:51:41 am
I love that we all have different names for the villain haha. I ended up just calling it the credited name, the Ghost Monster, in the Episode Guide even though I hate that name lol.
6/5/2021 09:50:38 pm
I was just strolling through Instagram and I saw a Tracy Mark Lee’s post about this episode. According to Tracy Mark Lee, the monsters actual name is The Silver Screen Spectre. Now that’s a cool name for such and original monster. There also drawings of the flying blue monkeys and eariler draft of the wicked witch.
6/6/2021 10:53:45 am
That's such a better name for it than "Ghost Monster!" Though Tracy said he hadn't seen the episode yet, and he posted a title card a few months that said "The TV and Movieland Monsters!", which we know was changed. I wonder if the same is the case here: maybe the Silver Screen Spectre was an old name for the villain and they changed it? If they did change it from the Silver Screen Spectre, "Ghost Monster" is definitely a far inferior name lol.
6/6/2021 11:59:35 am
I have mixed feelings about this episode.
6/6/2021 03:19:03 pm
Yah I really like the western scene because of how pretty cool it was with it being battle between the spectre and the gang and the different antics there was during that scene. The Spectre rising up after being melted, I rewinded it a few times it was pretty cool.
6/7/2021 12:33:52 pm
Carol was really fun and sassy in this episode! She made a really good guest star and seemed very engaged and excited about the role.
6/10/2021 11:12:24 am
Shaggy actually says explicitly “Root Beer!” Before having a sip with scooby lol
6/11/2021 11:24:46 am
Root beer isn't beer though, it's a soda haha.
6/6/2021 09:19:39 pm
Can you give me a link of scooby-doo dog wonder episode?
6/6/2021 09:30:53 pm
I don’t think that episode is available yet. Probably sometime this week, Wildwind’s friend from Spain will share to him and Peralann will be able to download Dog Wonder and Gold Microphone on the drive then we’ll all get to see it.
