In "A Good Medium Is Rare," Phyllis Diller had five ex-husbands. In real-life, at the time of this episode's airing, she had only divorced one man and was currently married to another.
Phyllis married her first husband, Sherwood, in 1939. She was married to him for 26 years, and divorced him in 1965. Later that year, she married actor Warde Donovan, who she was still with when "A Good Medium Is Rare" aired. In 1975, she divorced Warde due to his problems with drinking, and was single for the next 10 years. In 1985, she married Robert Hastings, who she remained with until his death in 1996. Phyllis did not remarry again after her third husband's passing.

Interesting that her episode was based off her real life relationships with her husbands.

Not sure what you mean here, but there wasn't anything raunchy in this episode. 2/17/2024 02:34:53 am
@WildwindVampire I mean about her having multiple husbands.

Although this episode was pretty crazy, it was a lot of fun! I also liked the plot of her former husbands' ghosts. The setting of the Magic Mansion and all the different scares throughout were great! Yeah, I wish the Gargoyle would have been in the episode more too. I guess it must have been Albert or his accomplice, but it's weird that they never found out who it was. I agree the phantoms were just okay, but I liked them for what they were.

Hi blog snax, do you think the franchise will go beyond 2030? And what do you think the next series might be? And when do you think Velma season 2 will come to Max.

I'm not Wildwind obv lol, but I'll give my two cents on this. The franchise will definitely go beyond 2030, the concept of Scooby-Doo is simply timeless, you can do so many things with it and many people love it. I have no idea what we'll get next, since Mystery Pups seemingly won't get to see the light of day, but I'd venture a guess for a show hearkening back to either The Scooby-Doo Show (classic type Scooby but not Where Are You or New Movies) or Zombie Island (darker and more mature take while still being kid friendly). What I personally would love to see though is a reimagining of 13 Ghosts. I suppose Velma season 2 will come out in the autumn this year.

I’m probably less optimistic than you, but I still agree with this more than not. I don’t think it is a certainty but I’m kind of hoping we are in an awkward transitional decade for Scooby like the early and mid 90s. I would love either a Scooby Doo Show reboot (more mystery focused) or Zombie Island-like dark, but frankly, I don’t have a lot of hope until Warner Bros gets better leadership in there than the guy who is a bigger clown than the Mini golf episode clown

If it is a transitional decade with less content, the franchise would still be going forward though. What do you expect the next Scooby series to be btw? If not something that hearkens back to previous iterations, could it be another out of left field move like Get a Clue, because why not? And the metallic clown doesn't deserve such slander haha

Which is what I am hoping this decade is, a transitional decade, though I find WB hard to trust 2/15/2024 01:22:27 pm
@Matt I really hope that isn't the case, but I think you bring up a good point that it's likely we'll get something like Guess Who if there's no change in the company's mindset. Jim Krieg made it loud and clear that he believes that's the tone Scooby should have in that one interview, so I don't think we're likely to get anything too different without a change in mindset in the writers' room.

Zaslav is truly unpredictable. Just recently it was announced that Coyote vs Acme won't be released after WB had said they won't write it off and instead sell it another distributor. However, greed ended up speaking volumes, because WB wanted 75-80 million dollars for it and none of the interested parties (Paramount, Netflix, Amazon) offered that much and WB didn't allow them to counteroffer. So instead they'll write it off anyway...

While that is true, Zaslav doesn't like art and I would expect more soulless Scooby Doo similar to Guess Who

Personally I would dread a Scooby-Doo reality show lmao. Zaslav needs to go for sure.

It would have to be heavy on the mystery solving and less on the drama, which come to think of it, I do not trust Zaslav with so you may be right lmao 2/16/2024 10:19:09 am
@Becker Oh no, I know. I had just meant that I think we're likely to get a show similar to Guess Who and/or the current DTVs unless the mindset of the writers' room changes.

To be fair, the vision certainly does not have even close to the same amount of drama as SDMI. More of a thing where everyone has to solve a mystery in an episode, and whoever solves it last or does the worst job trying to solve it gets eliminated. The only drama would be if people wanted to work together and not with other people or something 2/16/2024 03:21:00 pm
Ah yes, I can see an episode where Sassy Fred forms an alliance with Daphne and Velma, but doesn't want to work with Shaggy and Scooby. At the end of each episode, Sassy Fred scolds the loser and says "You oughta be ashamed of yourself!" lol.

Yes that is exactly how the losing contestants should leave: At the mercy of Sassy Fred
Becker

Or do a Scooby version of Squid Game, where the last member to solve a mystery gets killed, and repeat until we're left with one surviving member. Sassy Fred would definitely try to sabotage Velma cuz she's the likeliest to win, only for Shaggy to come in clutch and win it all by the end

Squid Game may be a bit too much here... I'm thinking something along the lines of this show that came on for like one season a decade ago called Whodunnit, where they all have to solve the murder mysteries to the best of their ability every episode and the worst result gets killed off, and one of the contestants is secretly the "killer". I imagine everyone suspecting Sassy Fred because of his attitude, but it turns out, it is Gibby Norton because he is just always guilty lol. Perhaps this can be set on an island and the season can be called Total Scooby Island 2/17/2024 10:28:02 pm
Or, total plot twist, the killer is actually Red Herring all along! lol

A red herring of a red herring named Red Herring? Works for me 2/14/2024 10:23:16 am
Hi Thomas, I agree with what Becker already said and think the franchise will go beyond 2030 for sure. There are so many different directions they've explored over the 55 years of the franchise, and I think there are many more ways they can experiment and come up with new ideas. I also think we're in kind of a weird transitional phase right now like the 90s, but I have faith that Scooby will recover and start putting out more content again at some point (likely when WB-Discovery get their affairs in order and stop writing off films for taxes). I'd also guess something like The Scooby-Doo Show, as I've mentioned previously, it'd actually follow the pattern of how Be Cool is technically a reboot of Where Are You, Guess Who is a reboot of The New Scooby-Doo Movies. I'm guessing Velma season 2 will probably come out this summer, or maybe fall like Becker said.

Tbf, WNSD, SDMI & BCSD are all kind of SDWAY reboots in certain ways, with a random af S&SDGAC thrown in between lol. And the last decade or so Scooby films might as well be its own NSDMo reboot besides SD&GW for how many crossovers there are. 2/15/2024 01:23:23 pm
That's fair, BCSD and WNSD feel more like Where Are You reboots to me, since SDMI had a vastly different tone and the overarching plot, but you're right that they're all Where Are You "reboots" in a sense.

I still think that it would be cool for them do a Scooby doo series where the gang were solving mysteries in openings of movies and episodes or mentioned mysteries in movies or episodes.

I seriously wonder if a Scooby Doo movie will come out this year probably near the end. They have been consistent with giving us movies and never taking breaks.

I think the Gremlins movie I posted about on here a couple weeks ago is probably the movie we'll get this year. Since this year is the 40th anniversary of Gremlins, it would make the most sense to get it this year. I'm guessing we'll get it either in the summer or towards the end of the year.
