The family that appears at the beginning of "The Creeping Creatures," "Night Terrors" and "Stand and Deliver" parodies the Griswold Family, from the famous National Lampoon's Vacation franchise of films. In "Creeping Creatures," the wife is voiced by Beverly D'Angelo, the same person who played the wife Ellen in this franchise. You also may remember from Fun Fact #373 that Beverly D'Angelo began her career painting animation cels for Hanna-Barbera.

I love how SDMI is full of cameos and easter eggs! Just a little note: I think you meant Beverly also played Ellen in the National Lampoon's Vacation franchise, not voiced, since it's live action.

Beverly D'Angelo only voiced the mom in The Creeping Creatures. Mindy Sterling voiced her in Night Terrors and Grey Griffin did in Stand and Deliver.

Lol, I'm sorry for all the mistakes with this one (I guess that will teach me to rush to write a fun fact before traveling haha). I fixed it, thank you for pointing this out. I actually wasn't aware she was voiced by three different people. That is interesting to know, I wouldn't have assumed a random side character would have three different voices.

I just watched National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation last night and was thinking about this, haha!

I actually plan to watch National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation later this week! I'm visiting family for the holidays and we watch it every year, so that's what inspired this fun fact haha.

I'd known about her doing background paintings and that the family was a parody of Christmas Vacation previously, but I hadn't realized Beverly voiced the mom until a couple weeks ago.

I have a (entirely unsubstantiated) theory that they're also based off of the family from MANOS: The Hands of Fate.

Interesting, I'd never heard of that film before but I looked it up, and I think that family could possibly fit as well.
