Fun Fact of the Week #402

Keeping with the Daphne & Velma theme this week after my interview with director Suzi Yoonessi yesterday, RoboThespian was not just made up for that film. RoboThespian is a real robot made by a UK company called Engineered Arts. Due to advanced technology used to build the robot, RoboThespian took over 15 years to be built. The robot is controlled with an online touchscreen interface with tons of pre-recorded content. It can be programmed to do any movement, say anything, and sing any song you program it to perform. According to the official website, one of the promotional slogans used for the robot is "Make robot-human conversation as natural as a chat between friends!" which could be either exciting or terrifying depending on your interpretation of it haha.

There's a new series called Scooby-doo and the mystery pups coming in 2024 for preschool kids on hbomax

Won't be tuning in for this show when it comes out, I am not a fan of preschool kids shows and prefer regular animated shows instead. Also can we please not start comparing this with regular Scooby-Doo shows since preschool shows are different when it comared to regular animated shows. At any rate I have given some preschools a try in the past, but these days I prefer to avoid them since I feel they are going more and more downhill, for example I enjoyed fNickelodeon, show The Adventures of Paddington first season but not the second season since I feelt the second season was much more educational then the first season, and the first season seemed to be more lots of fun. In my experience at least in terms of viewerships many preschool kids shows start off well enough but later go downhill.

Also noticed that the poster of preschool kids show Scooby-Doo and the Mystery Pups hints that Fred, Velma, Daphne, will just be pups in it hence yet another reason I won't be watching this, since I have no desire to watch the gang as pups in it. And making the focus of show solely on shaggy and scooby feels like a bad idea to me, Shaggy & Scooby-Doo Get a Clue! was a bad enough show as it was, at any rate the show resembles a rip-off to PAW Patrol by the looks of it.

At the very least, this might be able to lessen the whining about the Velma show since there WILL be a kid appropriate Scooby Doo show

As for the show itself, it seems like the same concept as A Pup but I guess we’ll see if it has the wit or charm of that show to be able to engage older audiences

I don't think this will lessen the whining about the Velma show since this doesn't come out untill 2024, besides the difference between a pup and this preschool kids shows is that the gang were human in a pup. Some fans may not wish to watch Mystery Pups since the gang will just be pups in it.

They haven't actually shown what Shaggy will look like or mentioned if he will be human or dog in any way.

All they've done is shown three puppies, two of which have some vague semblance to Velma and Daphne.

Whackman, in that case, those fans should get over themselves

Having a kid series for that section of the fanbase that can’t watch the Velma show settles any complaints about inclusion of fans for the new shows, and quite frankly, I am tired of hearing people cry about these shows before we even know MOST of the information about them. People need to stop jumping to conclusions and automatically deeming the shows bad without a chance just because they didn’t get their way. These aren’t what my ideal shows look like either, but the world doesn’t revolve around me

Sorry about the rant but this backlash is getting on my nerves

I really hope that this lessens the backlash towards Velma. It seems sort of like a combo of Pup and "Camp Comeoniwannascareya."

Also, in terms of your second comment, I thought you were spot-on and I couldn't agree more. It's understandable that some people might feel hesitant about the show, but there's a difference between being a little skeptical and outright refusing to watch the show off the bat based on the most minimal of information we were provided with here. If people don't like the shows once they watch them, that's completely understandable, but to boycott the show before we know anything just doesn't make sense to me. There's nothing anybody is gaining from freaking out at tiny pieces of information.

I remember finding out this robot really existed, instead of just being something made up for the film.

I found this out a couple weeks ago when doing a bit of research for my interview with Suzi, and I was surprised it actually existed! It's cool that they used an actual robot.
