Despite all movies beginning with Legend of the Vampire being animated in widescreen, none of them were released this way on DVD up until Camp Scare. To this day, only five of them have been released in widescreen on Blu-Ray.
Thanks to Colin for sharing this fun fact idea!

Sounds less like a fun fact and more like a frustrating fact, but does fit... one of the reasons films were cut on VHS to fit the screen was because people complained, and I will admit to clicking the DVD player setting to just fill the darn screen with the picture, even if it stretches it... which did make africa once appear REALLY weird but forget on what...

Hahaha I think I titled one of these "depressing fact" way back when so I suppose "frustrating fact" would work lol. It makes sense to me that they'd be cut that way on VHS, but not really on DVD.

What has been discovered is people don't like parts of their screen being blank, hence the whole widescreen and aspect ratio fights, Back in the days before HD tvs were largely square and any tv/movies released were "formatted to fit your screen" now that we're in the HD age and screens are rectangular this has kinda switched. Early in the DVD era movies were released in both a "widescreen" and fullscreen edition This has mostly gone by the wayside with widescreen winning out, but it has meant that I get the occasional frustration when I pick up a movie that was only really released once and find out there's only the "fullscreen" edition out there... 1/25/2021 04:13:39 pm
I can see why people would get frustrated about parts of their screen being blank, but I guess it's never bugged me all that much.

This is why you just let Frank Welker be Fred, protects everyone.

Totally unrelated, but I've always wondered if there were any canceled Scooby shows before they could get into production.

I remember that one! Wasn't it supposed to be in the style of the Abracadabra Doo opening or something?

I compared them side by side and they're a bit different in their designs and animation style. I guess it's maybe close enough, but 26 full episodes of that Abracadabra Doo intro, too, would be tiresome. I already wasn't the biggest fan of those intros, but that style doesn't work for more than a few skits. I guess that one looks a bit better than what the show was gonna look like, except Velma, who looks even worse in that skit somehow. 1/31/2021 10:35:35 am
Yeah, I don't think I would have loved the animation either. But I will admit I also didn't love Be Cool's animation either, but that grew on me because of the stellar writing.

When I first saw Be Cool's art style I was like "that's weird" and then just went along and watched it when it came out. I was pretty fine with it compared to most people, even though it was still odd the first couple of times watching the show. 1/31/2021 06:18:37 pm
Yeah, I definitely wasn't one of those people that was freaking out being like "you ruined my childhood!" when the designs first came out. I just found them a bit offputting but it didn't make me worried about the show being terrible.

When if first saw Be Cool Scooby Doo’s animation style, I was like this looks like family guy or American dad. I was a bit skeptical but after watching the first episode, it was really funny and refreshing. The writing in this series was just really creative. I couldn’t wait to see what the other episodes of the series would be like.

I felt the same way. The writing was so amazing that I couldn't help fall in love with the show from the first episode.
