In 2004, a Scooby-Doo direct-to-video film titled "Scooby-Doo and the Anime Invasion" was officially pitched to WB. The film was initially green-lighted and a script was written by Tad Stones, but was later scrapped.
Here's a quote from an interview with him, where he discusses this film. "My last day at Disney was February 26, 2003. I did one small development project for them that didn't get too far. Then I did a direct-to-video Scooby-Doo script Scooby-Doo and the Anime Invasion. I think it needs a title change, because evidently kids loved the concept but moms weren't sure about it. In the past I'd worked on parts of scripts, or storyboarded parts of my direct-to-videos. This was the first one that I sat down and top to bottom and wrote from blank page to final script. It was a lot of fun to work with those characters."

Not a huge fan of anime, but I wouldn't mind if they ever made a Scooby one. Didn't know we were so close to getting one.

Neither am I, but I totally would have watched a Scooby anime if they would have made one.

Yeah I think this wouldn't have been that good of an idea.

Agreed, though I still may have tried to watch it. I've heard the Batman anime movie was pretty horrible.

Yeah it's basically an arthouse Batman film. There's a typical bunch of people overpraising it for it's "incredible animation" and other much more silly reasons, but as a Batman fan who loves everything from the lighthearted 60's show to the incredibly dark and gritty version, this one just failed across the board, Lol. 5/14/2018 03:42:56 pm
Did you like the latest Batman crossover with Scooby? I'm not a huge Batman fan, so I'm curious how the movie held up for the Batman side of the fandom.

Which one? Batman: Gotham Knight or Batman Ninja?

I actually haven't seen it yet, but the version of Batman they're using is from a really great, comedic animated series that ended a few years ago called The Brave and the Bold, so i'm excited just to get a chance to see that version again, the fact that it's a Scooby crossover is a cool added bonus and i'm sure it will be a very fitting combo since that Batman is very focused on the detective part of crime fighting.

Even not being a Batman fan, I loved the film! It did a great job of including a lot of Batman characters that even non-fans would know, and tied it together with Scooby really nicely. I would highly recommend you watch it at some point! :)
