Happy Friday! We are officially one week away from Scooby’s 50th anniversary! Today with us is Shianne, a super Scooby fan and wonderful human who is involved on the ScoobyAddicts forum. Here’s her fan profile:
1. What is your name? Shianne 2. How did you get into Scooby-Doo? I got into Scooby Doo as a little kid. I would watch SDWAY most mornings before school, and my parents got me most the movies as well. 3. What is your favorite Scooby-Doo episode and film? Why? My favorite film plot wise would be Zombie Island. I really enjoyed the animation style in this, and how the mystery played out. However, I would say Where’s My Mummy is also up there, as I’m a history major, and so Egyptian history is always a yes from me. My favorite episode would be Mine Your Own Business from SDWAY. It’s truly the episode that got me hooked on Scooby, and holds a ton of nostalgia for me. 4. What ways are you involved in the Scooby fandom online? I am involved on the Scooby Addicts Proboard, and tend to be involved on Tumblr as well. 5. In your opinion, what is the best series or era of Scooby? My favorite is probably SDMI. I really disliked how far it strayed from tradition at first, but I’ve grown to appreciate how fleshed out the overarching mystery was. I also appreciated the character development we got to see in it. My favorite as far as concepts is probably What’s New. I think most episodes were really unique and stand out in my mind. 6. If they could make a sequel to one Scooby-Doo series or film, what would it be? Honestly, I would finish up 13 Ghosts so we could see all 13, rather than the 11 I believe it was we saw. 7. What direction would you like to see the franchise go in the future? I would like to find a middle ground between the directions SDWAY and SDMI took. I like the emphasis on the mysteries, but I also believe it’s important to flesh out the story, as well as have character development. It really adds a lot to a show and is what makes it memorable. 8. Who is your favorite member of the gang and why? My favorite member of the gang is Velma. I appreciate her sarcastic sense of humor, and that’s she’s fiercely loyal to her friends. She also tends to remind me of myself, so I might be biased haha. However, growing up my favorite was Daphne. 9. What is your favorite villain? Why? My favorite villain in films is Ben/Sarah Ravencroft. They truly scared me as a kid, and I like that we really got to know them and their motives. The twist was one I never saw coming and I thought it was brilliant. In the shows, I would say The Freak, it was nice getting to know the villain and linger, rather than just moving on in the next episode. 10. In your opinion, who is the best recurring (non-gang) character in the franchise? The best recurring character is Marcie. I really liked how she developed as a character. She started out hates, and then became a cherished friend. She was someone that Velma could relate to, and even helped the gang out. I also like that she sparks conversation about the LGBT community. The speculation creates those conversations I think that are important to have about LGBT representation in mainstream media. 11. Do you have a Scooby-Doo collection? If so, what’s in it? I have most movies, the pez collection, and a few plushes, as well as figurines, but that’s about it. 12. What do you think has made the franchise so popular that it’s still going strong after 50 years? I think the fact that the franchise as a whole is constantly evolving and producing unique shows with the same 5 characters. They craft each show in a way that we don’t tire of these same 5 characters. They switch between incredible fleshed out story lines and just simple mysteries. There is truly something for everyone. 13. What is one fun fact about you in real life? One fun fact about me is that I am getting married in June of 2020 to my high school sweetheart. Wedding plans have been stressful, but I’m very excited either way. Thanks so much, Shianne, for your great responses and congrats on your wedding! Feel free to leave her a comment in the section below.

I've always heard it called "Shelma," "Veggy" sounds a bit too similar to veggie/vegetable haha.
