Today, our fan spotlight is a very special person I’ve been working with now almost 10 years! That person is the wonderful ScoobyAddict, the webmaster of the ScoobyAddicts website and forum. I’ve been working with ScoobyAddict as an admin since 2011, and she’s an amazing person to work with and a great friend. Before I ramble on more about how awesome she is, I’ll let you read for yourself in her fan profile: 1. What is your name? My name is Nikki, which is my real name. 2. How did you get into Scooby-Doo? I watched Scooby on Saturday mornings as a kid. I have always loved dogs and, when I was a kid, talking dogs were the greatest thing ever! I found Scooby-Doo and loved the show, the characters and the mysteries. I guess I'm a kid at heart because I never grew out of liking Scooby. 3. What is your favorite Scooby-Doo episode and film? Why? My favorite Scooby-Doo episode is Hassle in the Castle. I love castles and the gang solving a mystery in one was so cool. It's also an episode from what I think was the greatest series of Scooby-Doo! Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island and Witch's Ghost are my 2 favorite movies. I liked the writing and the story lines of both movies. Adding in some real ghosts/zombies was a good touch too. The only thing missing from these movies was Casey Kasem as Shaggy. 4. What ways are you involved in the Scooby fandom online? I run ScoobyAddicts.com and I also post on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram daily. This year, I'm posting daily holidays. I also have a blog where I post about new Scooby items and pieces in my Scooby collection and I post people's Fan Art on Fridays. I also do Fan Spotlight posts, which I did last year on a monthly basis. I continue to do them when I find someone that is interested in being in the spotlight. I would love to get a group of people together to host a Scooby-Con someday! 5. In your opinion, what is the best series or era of Scooby? Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! is the best series, in my opinion. It is the original! I liked the voice actors, the way the gang was drawn, and the villains were fun and not overly cheesy. 6. If they could make a sequel to one Scooby-Doo series or film, what would it be? I'm not a huge fan of sequels. I'm not sure how I feel about the Zombie Island sequel. That was such a great movie and I don't see how they can do it justice by having a sequel. I like that everyone that creates a new incarnation of Scooby puts their own creative freedom into it. Even though some of those freedoms didn't work so well, I would still rather see new series and movies being made than sequels. 7. What direction would you like to see the franchise go in the future? I would like to see them continue to make movies, new series and new merchandise. I would love to see a Supernatural/Scooby-Doo animated series. ScoobyNatural was the best crossover episode ever! I would like to see them do some other fun things with Scooby, like a "Where Are They Now: Villains Edition" where they tell what happened to the villains after they were taken away by the police. Did they end up in jail? If so, how long were they there? If not, did they continue their villainous ways or did they learn from it? 8. Who is your favorite member of the gang and why? Scooby is my favorite because he's a talking dog. He's cowardly but he always comes through when you need him, especially for a Scooby Snack! 9. What is your favorite villain? Why? I don't really have a favorite villain so much. I think the ones from Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! are all pretty cool. I do really like the Captain Cutler Funko POP Figure. I was lucky enough to get one, thanks to my hubby, and it looks really cool. It even glows in the dark. 10. In your opinion, who is the best recurring (non-gang) character in the franchise? I really like Scooby-Dum and would like to see him in more episodes. I think a lot of people would agree that he should make a come-back. 11. Do you have a Scooby-Doo collection? If so, what’s in it? I do have a Scooby collection. I have plush Scooby's, the Scooby and Shaggy phone, custom Scooby wooden dice that I had made by a local woodworker, Funko POP figures, other figures, a lamp, puzzles, buckets, pizza plates, cards, cars, and so much more. I am working on an inventory of all of my Scooby stuff. I also post about the items in my collection on my blog where I detail the item and take pictures of it from all sides. 12. What do you think has made the franchise so popular that it’s still going strong after 50 years? I think Scooby makes people feel better. The show typically starts off with someone being chased by a villain, usually a monster-type thing. During the episode, the gang finds clues and eventually they figure out who the villain is and unmask them. At that point, you feel good because you know that monsters aren't real and also because they caught the villain. Even with the many incarnations of Scooby and the gang, the basic concept usually stays the same. Some people can also relate to the gang members in some ways. 13. What is one fun fact about you in real life? I once drove 1,288 miles in one day to hang out with Scooby! In December, 2011, Scott Innes had a Scooby-Doo Christmas Party in Louisiana and we drove straight through in a day to get to the party from Pennsylvania. It was so much fun! He had prizes he was raffling off, a couple guest stars, lots for the kids to do and he sang "You've Got A Friend In Me" in Scooby and Shaggy's voices(Check out my video of that here: youtu.be/EkiC0bvcvuM). Scott was genuinely a really kind and nice person who does so much to raise money for others and help those in need. I am very lucky to have had that opportunity (and to have a husband that supports my Scooby habit!) I was lucky to get them when they were sold by Funko as exclusives. Not so lucky with the pink one, which I paid almost $200 for. And the green one may never be part of my collection as the price increased from $200 3 weeks ago to $600 - $750 on eBay now. The green one is the only one I am missing.
