Compared to the last two, we have an extremely light poll this week! I think the winner will probably be obvious, but it would be interesting to see if it comes out differently. Boo Brothers won our 80's poll for last week! Here are the full results of last week's poll:

Well this one should be much easier to rank. Two sets of two episodes are rather close for me, but let’s see what we got here

5. Dawn of the Spooky Shuttle Scare - The mystery's decent and I like the villain, but it needed more time to develop. I'm all for adopting "Simontaneously" as an official new word in the dictionary lol. I'm quite fond of Billy Bob Joe Bob Harris as well haha.

5. Honestly, I kinda stan Simon Simonson simply because of his name, so I am fully on board with "simontaneously" becoming an official new word 9/17/2023 07:07:12 pm
5. I'm glad we're on the same page lol. Now I just need to figure out a way to casually incorporate it into everyday conversation haha.

3. I completely agree with the mystery and comedy mix needing the full 22 minutes to really work. I think with the three 11 minute episodes here, both areas take a significant hit, even if they aren't irredeemably low on either. And that would probably explain it as I usually only ever really watched the 3 assorted episodes in that episode on that DVD. For what it's worth, neither of the versions of the title are nearly as infuriating as "Whatta Shocking Ghost" LOL 9/18/2023 09:04:07 pm
3. In Pup's defense, the writers didn't really have time to figure out how an 11-minute version of the formula could work like the Scrappy writers did, so I think that's likely the biggest reason why they struggled to capture that formula in half the time. Funny you say that, I actually had just watched "Watt a Shocking Ghost" tonight, and was annoyed to see Boomerang had the title listed wrong lol.

I believe the 13 Spooky Tales Holiday Chills and Thrills has it listed as “Whatta Shocking Ghost” as well. Very annoying to me for some reason 9/19/2023 06:06:37 pm
It bugs me a bit too since it ruins the whole pun of the title. "Watt" is obviously supposed to be an electrical pun on "What," so I have no idea how they came up with "Whatta" lol.

It’s like someone didn’t know what a watt was and thought the only pun in the title was the “shocking” part, and thought it was just a spelling error or something

This was a good episode, although I think it could have used a bit more time to develop. The Astronaut Ghost was a decent villain, although not quite as strong as some others in the series. Yeah, I agree the culprit was pretty obvious.

Agreed, this is easily my favorite of the 11-minute episodes. I really liked the Ghost of Mrs. Shusham as a villain! I also loved the twist at the end, and I appreciated that they did that to make this episode a bit more memorable than it otherwise could have been as an 11-minute episode.

Wasn't there a few ghosts in Zombie Island? Anyway, Scooby idea of the week. Scooby Doo where are you would make the perfect advent calendar, 1 episode per day, including Xmas day.

There were a couple at the beginning in the montage, plus the solider that briefly appeared, but I don't feel any of them were prominent enough to justify their inclusion in the poll considering none of them were on-screen for more than 30 seconds of the film.

AHEM, does Morgan Moonscar not count?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V2INb8qPik0 9/18/2023 08:55:49 am
You're right that he looks ghostly in that one scene, although I didn't include him as I would consider him a zombie rather than a ghost. IMO given Zombie Island usually wins any poll it's in by default, I think it makes the poll more interesting not to include it since it's kinda borderline as to if he's a ghost or zombie (although again, I'd lean much more heavily towards zombie).

That's fair enough, but I might have no hair left by the fact you consider it has to be one or the other as he can be both. A ghost is often otherwise referred to as a spirit often of somebody who has unfinished business to finish in their life. As his initial attempt failed, Moonscar's spirit then returns to his physical form in an attempt to warn the gang what awaits them if they do not leave the island. Thus, both. I think we have also seen here that, although some will, many don't just go for their fave piece of media but what has the best ghost.

One scene of Morgan Moonscar as more of a ghost still isn't enough to qualify.

I, for one, am glad that Zombie Island is not included simply because I don't really view it much as a ghost movie, yet I am contractually obligated to vote for Zombie Island in any positive poll lol 9/18/2023 09:14:51 pm
I agree that a villain can be more than one thing (we do have the Vampire-Mummy-Werewolf-Ghost from Outer Space in "Some Fred Time" lol) but I feel like he is represented as much more of a zombie than he is in that brief scene where he looks like more of a ghost, hence why I didn't include it. I understand and respect your opinion though.

Bravo Dooby Doo is hilarious and probably would have gotten my vote in a lot of other polls, but there's no beating Witch's Ghost IMO.

Hi blog snax , have you got those tiny mights toys , they look really good just wondering, I hope there will be a new scooby doo series in 2025, any guesses on what it could be and what would you say would be 3 options for it to go in, see you soon,

Hi Thomas, I didn't get any of the Tiny Mights toys. I also hope we get a new Scooby series by then! Since the last two series have been reboots of Where Are You and The New Scooby-Doo Movies, I think it would be amazing if we got a show that was sort of a reboot of The Scooby-Doo Show, although I would want it to be much more true to the original tone of the show.

I feel like after Velma, the most likely scenario would be for the next show to go back to basics.

@Wildwind, technically the last Scooby show isn't a reboot of any previous iteration, instead it is its own mind-numbing abomination. Plus, Be Cool doesn't honestly feel like a Where Are You reboot in almost any way. What's New is a lot more of a Where Are You reboot. BCSD is just as much of a WAY reboot as SDMI is — they're both far away from it, just that in opposite directions.

@Becker- I do feel like Be Cool and Guess Who were "trying" to be reboots of WAY and NSDMo respectively, but I'd agree I don't think they ended up that way, for better or worse. Be Cool ended up kinda forging its own path, and I am glad for that. Where with Guess Who, I would've begged for a NSDM reboot over the travesty that we got. Like, if they actually bothered studying The New Scooby Doo Movies and looking to see what worked it would've been considerably better, rather than just "Oh, we are doing guest stars!" and basically quitting trying there like we got. 9/18/2023 09:11:26 pm
@Amber I think you're likely right, but I hope that just means returning to the original formula while also making sure the show has its own identity.

As much as I like Be Cool personally, the last series, or really anything related to Scooby, that I feel the general public really talks about in a really positive light is SDMI so I don’t know what WB’s problem is with a show that has an atmosphere. 9/19/2023 06:05:31 pm
It's disappointing to me how many people didn't give Be Cool a chance just from the animation. I agree the animation is a bit jarring at first, but the writing is easily strong enough to make up for it, so it's such a bummer that people won't give it a chance.

I agree more people should’ve given Be Cool a chance, but the fact that SDMI is really the last huge deal of a series in the general public to date just goes to show how it isn’t the audiences that are against a dark atmosphere and experimentation, it’s WB 9/20/2023 03:10:44 pm
Completely agreed, which is strange considering I don’t feel it’s a secret that SDMI is one of the most critically acclaimed Scooby shows of the 21st century. JCB mentioned back when he was on ScoobyAddicts that WB told him they wanted something that was “75% humor and 25% scary” (as opposed to SDMI, which was 75% scary and 25% humor), so they must have had an issue with making another show with SDMI’s tone for some reason. I have no idea what they would, though.
