September 3, 2014 is the day this site and blog first went online, so today is the site's 9-year anniversary! To celebrate, I'm excited to announce a special weekly poll series that will be happening over the next two months!
Ghosts are the most common villain in the Scooby franchise, and we've been doing a lot of villain polls lately. However, there are so many ghosts in the franchise that trying to do a single "best ghost" poll would likely explode everybody's brains with the amount of options lol. On another non-Scooby related site I'm a part of, I've been hosting some polls where the options are divided up by decades. This gave me the idea of doing a "ghosts by the decades" poll tournament to celebrate the site's anniversary, Scooby's anniversary month and Halloween. Each week, we'll go in chronological order and vote on the best ghost episode from each of the decades. Since there are only a limited number of ghost episodes from a single year in the 1960s, I've combined it with the 1970s. Even though some decades will be lighter (like the 1990s and 2020s), those will still be their own individual polls, since there is a decent amount of options amongst multiple years and series/films. Some sets will have a ton of options (50+), because there are so many ghost episodes throughout the franchise, including many episodes where the villain is the ghost of something else (i.e. the Ghost of Redbeard, the Ghost of a Werewolf, etc.) Once we've made it through all the decades, we will do a final Winner's Circle round pitting the winning option(s) from each week's poll up against each other, which will determine the best ghost episode in the Scooby-Doo franchise! If there is a tie for the winner, all winning options will advance to the final round. Our Winner's Circle round will happen October 15, and will also mark the 200th weekly poll on the site. I'm really excited to kick off this poll tournament, and I hope you all are excited about this as well! Here are the results from last week's "best skeleton episode" poll: Boo Brothers - 15 A Creepy Tangle in the Bermuda Triangle - 13 The Spooky Fog - 8 El Bandito - 8 Mystery Solvers Club State Finals - 6 The Scary Sky Skeleton - 5 Happy Birthday, Scooby-Doo! - 4 The Legend of the Gold Microphone! - 4 Man in the Mirror - 3 Reluctant Werewolf - 2 Curse of the Collar - 1 The Spirit of Rock 'n' Roll - 1 Night of the Boogey Biker - 0 Gentlemen Start Your Monsters - 0

I really liked this episode too! Gold City was a very creepy setting. I liked the Miner 49er a lot as a villain as well. I agree that the mirror and store scenes were really creepy, as was his moaning. I also really liked the trap where they pretended to be the train. Yeah, Hank was a very obvious culprit.

This was a decent episode but it's amongst my least favorites of Where Are You. The witch doctor was an alright villain but I definitely prefer the one in "A Tiki Scare Is No Fair."

I love this episode too. The Ghost Clown was a super creepy villain, especially with his ability to hypnotize people. Him trying to kill Sam and Max was really creepy.

That's cool this was one of the first episodes you ever saw! I really liked this episode too. The werewolf ghost was an excellent villain, and the bits where he was stalking Shaggy and Scooby were really creepy. I've also always found that "Laurel and Hardy" line interesting considering they'd go on to meet Laurel and Hardy in the next show.

I really liked this episode too, and I agree that Josie and the Pussycats had a lot of chemistry with the gang. I liked both villains as well. Yeah, the chase scene where they split in two different directions was really cool! I also didn't expect the culprits to be who they were, or that Jack was an undercover agent.

I like this episode as well although I would say its amongst the weaker Scooby-Doo Show episodes (the series is quite strong though, so it was still a very good episode). I liked Tamooka as the villain. The Medicine Man had a creepy design, but his voice wasn't particularly creepy to me. The plan of the crooks wearing a cow costume was unique, although the talking bull was not a good villain haha. Overall though, it was a pretty solid episode.

This is an amazing episode and one of my faves of the show. The Ghost of Milo Booth was a super creepy villain, particularly the bits where he popped his head out of the coffin like you said, and the parts in the cemetery. Scooby-Dum fit really nicely in this episode, and I was glad he returned. I wish he would have shown up in more episodes in season 3, though (granted it wasn't all antics like some season 3 episodes are). I also find it very weird that Scooby-Doo and Scooby-Dum have a crush on their cousin. I agree it was obvious Jim was the culprit. His plan was super creative! Yeah, the ending was really sweet.

This is another one of my favorite episodes of the season. The Ghostly Gondolier was a super creepy villain! I also thought the scenes where he was reaching from behind the curtain were really creepy. I loved how detailed his backstory was! I also guessed it was Mario, but his motive was a surprise. I agree with you that Antonio felt like a part of the gang. The fish crossing guard bit amused me as well haha.

This was a really cool episode and one of my favorites of the first Scrappy season. The Night Ghoul was really creepy, and I liked the twist that there were two different Night Ghouls. I also didn't expect Mr. Marino to be the culprit. Scooby eating the robot food at the end was definitely pretty cute!

This was a good episode! The Neon Phantom was a decent villain. His voice was a bit annoying, but his ability to drain the electricity was cool. Yeah, I also kinda felt bad for Bill. His motive made sense and was actually pretty reasonable. Agreed, the settings definitely felt quintessentially 70s all throughout the episode.

Ghost of the Bad Humor for me. It was tight between that and Spooky Case of the Grand Prix Race, but I think of the former as more of a ghost episode. They're both top 3 episodes of all time anyway.

There's so many classics here that it was hard for me to choose a top 10 as well. Both of those you listed are amazing episodes that I love, but they don't come anywhere close to my top 10.

4. The Loch Ness Mess- My favorite episode of the New Scooby Doo Movies of course, it's no secret lol. The beautiful New England scenery, the double mystery, the Globetrotters' best guest star performance in terms of dynamics with the gang. It's just one of the greats 9/3/2023 09:46:50 pm
33. I also really love "The Sorcerer's a Menace" and would say its amongst my favorite of the first Scrappy season.

23. Yeah, I guess that’s true. I feel like I had seen some praise somewhere else but can’t remember where, though I suppose it’s not enough to overcome he fact that its a Where Are You episode that is relatively forgotten

Chiller Diller Movie Thriller is the worst TSDS S2 episode for that Doo-Dum-Dee stuff alone imo 9/4/2023 01:55:04 pm
@Matt Interesting that "The Ozark Switch Witch" is the weakest for you, as "Creepy Cruise" has always stood out as slightly weaker than the others for me (although they are all incredible episodes). The atmosphere doesn't feel quite as strong for me on the ship for some reason, especially during the ballroom scene which I feel like I've mentioned before a while back. I'm planning to rewatch the second season for Halloween coming up, so it will be interesting to see if any of my opinions change. I agree with you about the quality dropoff in "Creepy Heap from the Deep," although the first half is so amazingly strong that I honestly don't mind. Like we talked about a couple weeks ago, it's nothing like the quality dropoff in "The Warlock of Wimbledon" or "The Scary Sky Skeleton" so it doesn't really bother me.

Ozark Witch Switch has always been an episode that I feel should work better for me than it actually does. The atmosphere is strong, but the actual plot and writing of the episode really feels weak for the season imo. It is really the only one in the season where I feel the mystery itself left a lot to be desired. Part of it is I think it felt rushed almost, especially the part of finding the final clue of the location or whatever. The atmosphere and general setup get it up to being a very good episode, but it absolutely does not stand out beyond that to me, especially when considering what season it is in 9/5/2023 06:13:09 pm
I can't say I agree, I really like the plot of the gang being stranded in the middle of the woods at night. The writing didn't feel much weaker to me than the rest of the season, but to each their own. I guess the location of the final clue was a bit rushed, but it has never really bothered me.

Only chance you got is either a) they reach 10000 votes and lego publiclly release them or B) they reach 10000 votes and get released independently by Lego Ideas after being rejected by Lego. Both highly unlikely sadly. 9/4/2023 01:44:48 pm
Given they're only at 177 votes as of this comment, I would say it's very unlikely, but they are super cool and definitely would deserve a release.

What a lot of it takes is publicity. There's currently a mystery machine in the review stage right now, doubt it'll be picked but who knows. 9/5/2023 06:49:35 am
That would be really neat, I'd definitely get a Mystery Machine LEGO set if they ever put one out.
