"Aloha, Scooby-Doo!" wins last week's poll with 48 votes, which is double the votes that the second place option, "A Tiki Scare Is No Fair," got (24 votes). "Hawaii and Norway" came in third place with five votes, and only one person voted for "South Seas Scare."

I’m going with the demon shark episode. He was scarier than the Shark God.

I love both episodes, but I ended up voting for "The Secret of Shark Island." I agree this demon shark was much scarier than the Shark God, though.

This was a great episode! I really liked the Demon Shark as a villain. They did a great job making Aquaworld feel very dark and foreboding. I also guessed it was Mr. Wells when I first watched it. Yeah, there are a lot of similarities to "Scooby's Night with a Frozen Fright" in the episode.

This actually falls out decently easy for me

I'd rather rewatch Iron Face and Demon Shark before Shark Island personally, and I honestly forgot the villain in Some Fred Time was a shark lol, so that kinda says it all about how different our rankings would be.

Very different as I didn’t even consider my vote going to anything besides Shark Island lol 8/13/2023 01:42:44 pm
Our rankings are super similar this week, with just a couple episodes switched around a spot.

4. See, I am *almost* there with you on Iron Face being one of the best of the season. There is a lot there that is truly iconic, I just can’t say that though because, well, you know my issues with a lot of the plot structures that season and it is one of the biggest victims of that 8/13/2023 07:05:57 pm
4. I usually have the same issue, but for whatever reason, this one didn't bother me. There are definitely sections in the second part of the episode where it's very antics-heavy, but the setting felt dark and creepy enough to me that the antics didn't bother me as much for some reason.

4. Yeah, there’s enough there for me to say it is at least average if not a little above average for the season. It’s not like Beast is Awake in Bottomless Lake where it just makes the episode one of my least favorites of the season. I just think it hurts it more than the episodes I would consider my favorites of the season like To Switch a Witch, A Menace in Venice, and maybe even The Diabolical Disc Demon and Creepy Creature of Vulture’s Claw, which are episodes where they don’t really have that problem, or if it is there, the antics and running around from Scooby and Shaggy feels like it at least has more of a point than this one 8/14/2023 01:46:51 pm
4. Yeah, "To Switch a Witch," "The Diabolical Disc Demon" and "A Menace in Venice" are better episodes. Still, I would say of the antics-heavy episodes, this one is probably the most enjoyable out of any of them IMO, because the atmosphere worked so well.

I can agree with that. It is definitely one of, if not, the best episode where the antics were so heavy

Although I put it last in my rankings, I completely agree with you that the villain designs are cool. I wish they would have done more with the shark though, as even though it looked cool, it felt like a wasted villain because they didn't really do much with it.

Definitely "There's a Demon Shark in the Foggy Dark" One of my favorite scenes is the gang's first encounter and chase with the Demon Shark. It was funny to see Scooby in Shaggy's arms running away, and Immediately in the next shot, Shaggy is in Scooby's arms saying, "you can run faster, you got more feet!"

Okay, how does Creepy Case of Old Iron Face get in here?

I decided to include "Creepy Case of Old Iron Face" since the sharks were a recurring part of the episode, even if they were just painted torpedoes. It doesn't really come to mind for me as a shark episode, but the poll wasn't overly large and it fits the "more than one or two scenes" rule so I included it.

Fair enough. The episode is great but as for shark villains, meh, this my positioning and I suppose it adds an extra option!

From the point of view of the gang up until they figure the mystery out, Iron Face's sharks are about the coolest thing Scooby-Doo ever did!

It's more the fact that I don't really class them as major villains or villains really at all, thus brings up the debate what contributes to a major part in the episode again. But I respect Wildwind's judgement although a Sea monster poll might have been a better option for more options.

Creepy Case of Old Iron Face (you misspelled the title in the poll btw) is my favorite of the bunch, I really love it, but There's a Demon Shark in the Foggy Dark is a lot more of a shark episode to me, so on that basis I'll go with Demon Shark (which is close in quality to Iron Face for me anyway).

"Some Fred Time" is one of my favorite episodes of the franchise too, but "The Secret of Shark Island" will always be the most memorable and nostalgic shark episode for me.

I'll be interested to see if "There's a Demon Shark in the Foggy Dark" or "The Secret of Shark Island" wins. I think it will probably be one of those two episodes that wins, but it seems like people are pretty split between them in the comments so I'll be curious to see what comes out ahead.

It's such an interesting choice of reference to have one of the villains appear on that menu in "The Curse of Kaniaku." I've always been fascinated by that reference for how obscure it is.

It's not the only reference like that in Be Cool. 8/16/2023 07:48:32 am
Completely agreed, the references/Easter Eggs they had in Be Cool were all really well thought through, unlike much of Guess Who.
