After the presumed success of the Superstars 10 Blu-Ray set, WB is releasing another set of films on Blu-Ray that have never been released before on the format. On April 30, a Zombie Island and Return to Zombie Island double feature Blu-Ray will be released by Warner Archive, according to their Facebook page. It appears that the films will only be released on Blu-Ray together and will not have separate releases.

Will not be buying. Will buy if they release Zombie Island alone separately

Totally agree with you on the 1997-2001 collection. I think fans would go crazy for a set like that!

I wouldn’t even care how expensive it would be. They could charge over $100 and I’d still buy it just to have that glorious era altogether, especially Scooby Doo Project and Night of the Living Doo. And that is how I know it would make a lot of money because I feel a lot of fans would feel the same as me there, especially when these blu-ray releases are definitely intended for fans and collectors more than the average person 3/21/2024 11:45:33 am
I'll be curious if they end up releasing more of these Blu-Ray sets, since I'm guessing they chose to release this one after seeing the success of the Superstars 10 set in February. If they do, I agree they should put out releases that the majority of fans would actually want, as it's no secret that Return to Zombie Island isn't exactly well liked in the fandom. I think Stephen's comment below is right though; it's definitely them also wanting a Blu-Ray for Return to Zombie Island but knowing it wouldn't sell well, so they attached it to this set.

They shouldn't have even bothered with Return to Zombie Island. If they know it wouldn't sell well without being glued to the most acclaimed Scooby movie of all time, then just don't make it. No one wants it 3/21/2024 09:32:30 pm
Totally agreed, and they seem to have written off several other Scooby seasons as not worth selling (the Scrappy years, Get a Clue, Laff-a-Lympics season 2, The Scooby-Doo Show season 2 for whatever reason), so I would think they could have just not made a release for this for this either.

Why would they pair Zombie Island with the movie that tried to retcon everything about it lol

Because it’s the only way they’d actually sell any copies of the sequel. What I hate most about it is the cover could have been epic. Now we are left with half the image of Zombie Island.

Yeah, I completely agree with Stephen on this one. They knew they wouldn't make much money selling Return to Zombie Island as its own set, so they chose to attach it to this.

Please hire back the stuff and make more movies like the 1998-2001 era. That would be my dream!

That would be incredible if we got a return to that era of movies. At this point, I'm not sure if it will happen, but it'd be amazing to have a reboot like this to mark the beginning of another new era for the franchise (especially in a time like now where we're not really getting a lot of movies/shows)

A random Scooby spoof turned up on my YouTube notifications, actually pretty funny, https://youtu.be/juyfyD3s8hc?si=WfCVnc5UvMav-tAz

Didn't go into this with high expectations, but this was actually really good! The quirky acting was kind of charming here and they did a good job striking a similar tone to Where Are You. I particularly liked the Fred actor's take on Sassy Fred here; "You're excessive!" and "Wow, they don't think much of this guy, do they?" made me laugh quite a bit lol.

Agreed, I didn't expect much but actually turned out alright. Fred wanting to go home instead of solving mystery so he didn't have to go to the dance was also pretty funny. Sorry so slow to reply, on hols this week. Daphne slapping him near end was ouch. 3/23/2024 04:25:44 pm
No worries on the delayed reply. I thought the acting was pretty good all things considered, even if there was some clear differences. The slapping Fred thing was a bit weird, not really sure why they kept calling back to that so much.

I see people complaining that RTZI is included here and are even saying they’ll boycott it, but that seems silly. I am disappointed that the front cover won’t be the entire Zombie Island poster, but I’m just glad we’re getting it on Blu-ray at all!

I’m sorry, but while you may want every Scooby movie on Blu-ray regardless of quality and that’s fine, I and others don't. I don’t think that the very worst Scooby movie should be forced on people who want to buy the very best one, especially not with that awful cover. It would be very different if they were releasing this combo package AND Zombie Island individually. I don’t see why not if the sales for RTZI were as good as they were

I'm also really glad that Warner Archive is putting out more physical media after so long, and it's awesome that they're releasing Zombie Island on Blu-Ray. For me personally, I don't have a Blu-Ray player, so I don't have any super strong feelings about the release, other than that I'm happy they're releasing for all the fans who have wanted this on Blu-Ray for so long now. Personally I do think it would have made more sense to add one (or more) of the other movies from that era, rather than Return to Zombie island which isn't well liked in the fandom. That said, I get why they chose to include it here and it doesn't really bother me like it bothers others.

I'm not sure! It would be cool if they made a set like that for one of the big franchise anniversaries (like the 60th anniversary, or 75th anniversary, or something like that).
