Behind the Scoobs has posted another tidbit of Scooby news on Instagram. The cover of a script, titled Scooby-Doo! Gremlins Getaway, was shared in a post. The font of "Gremlins" in the title matches the font of the logo for the 1984 film Gremlins, meaning this is likely a crossover with that film. The film is written by Jane Becker. The post lists the year 2023, but it is unclear whether this film is still in production or if it was another tax write-off. It may be worth noting that the account's previous posts have all listed the production year, rather than the release year, so it is possible that this film is still coming.
Also, if you haven't been following this account's other posts, I highly recommend you check out their profile. In addition to the stuff I've shared on the blog, the account also has posted a number of other character designs for unreleased films, including a model sheet of the chef from Scoob! Holiday Haunt, plus a Hex Girls poster, some backgrounds of a rooftop concert, another character named Dylan Luke Dylan from Haunted High Rise. In addition, the account has shared some interesting information about the original concept of Scoob!, which was completely different from the 2020 version we ended up getting. The original concept involved the ghost of a mad doctor named Dr. Bandersnatch, and included other Hanna-Barbera characters such as Grape Ape and Jabberjaw.

Looks legit. This year is also the Gremlin's 40th anniversary.

Interesting that there's a new title now? Maybe it will come out after all?

@Juan I think that was just an early title. The post mentions it was from 2021.

I really do wonder where's this guy getting all of this info from lol it's crazy 1/14/2024 12:54:59 pm
I'd say either they know somebody at WB or they actually work at WB. At this point, they're posting stuff about unreleased projects pretty much every day. I don't think they would have been able to find that much info that nobody knows about without some sort of connection to somebody who works on Scooby. 1/14/2024 10:53:03 am
I'm not sure how I missed that, thank you! :) I just added it to the post.

Honestly I’d be glad for any good Scooby media. Velma never counts as Scooby media. I’d honestly be interested with a Scooby doo and Beetlejuice cross over

2023 is definitely the production year. We might finally know the next Scooby movie now (unless it's been written-off). This account is turning into the new scoops source.

It's not something that's ever crossed my mind either, and I have no idea how they'd handle it. The two franchises are so different in tone that I'd have no idea how they'd mix them together, unless they just plan to plop the Gremlins characters into the tone of Guess Who/the current DTVs and call it a day (I really hope that isn't what they do). If they're releasing it, it'd make most sense for us to get the film this summer, since it's the 40th anniversary of the film in June.

I have never seen Gremlins, but I figure they are gonna do something like Krypto Too, where under normal circumstances it feels like the Scooby gang wouldn't be able to fit a world where there are aliens, zombies (Solomon Groundy) and giant women as if they were normal, but they played it off as if it was. 1/14/2024 05:42:31 pm
I saw Gremlins once but it's been a while, and yeah, you're probably right.

I completely agree just a super bizarre crossover. I've never seen the original Gremlins movie so I don't know if it would work well or not, but regardless, it is very random and I don't think anyone could've expected it

Hey Thomas, hope you are having a good day as well! I did get the pun haha. I hope we get a new DTV this year as well. I think it's more likely we'll get a show next year since we are getting Velma, but hopefully we'll get an announcement for one towards the end of this year.

I’ve never fully seen the Gremlins movie, but this does sound intriguing. Wonder how they’re gonna mix these 2 together.

I will be curious to see how they mix these too, as from what I remember about the film, the tones are very different.

I have never seen the Gremlins movie and from what I HAVE seen from it and its second part, it's completely different from my taste.

It's been so long since I've seen it (since I was a kid), but I remember being a bit middled on it too. Maybe my taste will have changed in adulthood.

It's definitely real as the account has posted a number of other scoops and established their credibility at this point. The only aspect we're unsure of is if has been/is going to be written off for taxes, or if it's still on the table to be released.

Wow, it's like everytime I say I'm tired of the crossovers, they'll announce a specific property I've personally always wanted to see Scooby-Doo crossover with! XD

Haha, I think it's totally fine to enjoy the crossovers! I'd be alright with them continuing crossovers to some extent, it's just that they've been so constant that they've gotten to be a bit much. Even if WB wanted to keep up the crossovers, I think it would be okay in moderation, where we were getting mostly original concepts with the occasional crossover.

No way! I love the Gremlins! They've always been a strong 2nd for zany creatures next to the Rabbids for me! I've always enjoyed the movies (the 2nd one mostly), and the new show that came out last year on Max. Seeing that it might get an official crossover movie with "Scooby-Doo" is like a dream come true for me. Seriously, right now, I'm feeling like how I felt when the "Courage" crossover was first leaked at the end of 2019! Please let this be real! I don't care if I have to wait another 2 years for it!

Never heard of Rabbids and also didn't realize there was a Gremlins, although that would explain the sudden resurgence. I'd guess this will come out probably next year for the 40th anniversary if it's coming out.

If this was a title announcement 10 years ago I would have hope but give how recent movies been mediocre to bad I don't have hopes this movie would be good.

Yeah, it's awful that happened to them! It takes extreme levels of selfishness to threaten to get somebody in trouble with the law just so they can be the first to post info.

Jane Becker has written for Harley Quinn as well as Rick and Morty. I think that sets the tone for the kind of humor in this film, but we'll see. That combined with the Gremlins franchise... I just have a hard time seeing this as a family-friendly Scooby film.

Interesting to know, I hadn't made that connection. I would be surprised if they made another mature Scooby film after all the backlash Velma got, but you do have a point. I'll be interested to see what happens.
