So I've heard that this news has been out for a little while now, but I am just hearing about this now. A brand new Scooby-Doo picture book, Scooby-Doo and the Mystery of the Haunted Library, is being released on August 8, 2023. The book is marketed as being for a preschool reading level, and will be 32 pages. The book is being published and distributed by Running Press Kids. The story was written by Matthew K. Manning, and the illustrations were done by Pedro Riquelme. Here is the description of the book:
When Shaggy and his pup Scooby-Doo sneak into Crystal Cove Elementary School's library after hours, they discover the reason it's been closed—there is a ghost living in it! At least that's what the librarian, Miss James, believes. Now the Mystery Inc. Gang must try to find out who is actually ripping pages out of library books—and they suspect it's not a real ghost. Join Shaggy, Scooby, Velma, Fred, and Daphne in this Mystery Inc. picture book mystery as they check another spooky case off their list. The book is now available for pre-order on Amazon for $18.99.

I’m definitely not a preschooler anymore, and I was planning on buying this, because I’m really desperate for anything Scooby-Doo at this point, but $18.99 for a 32 page book. WOW! That’s not cheap.

Yeah, we've been super light on Scooby content this year! $18.99 is crazy expensive, I was surprised to see that price too! Similarly to Mystery Pups, I don't think it being marketed to preschoolers necessarily means that adults can't enjoy it if they want. :)

Unrelated but I wanted to share this. I have a theory on Yabba-Doo.

That's a really interesting theory! I hadn't thought about all the similarities to the gang before that Yabba and Dusty had, but you're right that there are a lot of them. I'm sure they probably wanted to make them like the gang members so that kids would connect to these new characters easier, but from an in-universe perspective, this is a fascinating theory! Maybe Scrappy was having a fever dream after a failed attempt to "splat" a villain haha.

On this very site is a piece of fanfiction entitled, "Yabba's Parade Pandemonium," in which I provide my own thoughts regarding both Yabba and Scrappy's fate. Your theory is just as valid - and I'm glad to hear that Yabba has not been forgotten!

Thank you for the info! Looks like we got info about Velma officially being renewed for season 2 and having a 2024 release date, but I believe this is a different event, so hopefully we get some more Scooby news at this event too!

Not to be a spoiler but if you look closely the ghost show on the cover of this upcoming picture book looks almost identical to the phantom from Scooby-Doo Stage Fright.

They definitely look a bit similar! This ghost looks like it has bat-like ears, whereas the Stage Fright ghost had smaller ears and red eyes.
