"The Spooky Case of the Grand Prix Race" is perhaps one of the most obscure instances of a Scooby episode not being released on home media. However, I recently discovered the episode was released exclusively on VHS in Italy in 1996 as Scooby-Doo! Il Gran Premio. The bonus episode on the VHS is another unreleased episode of The Scooby-Doo Show, "Creepy Cruise." The VHS was also released in Greece. Here's a picture of the back cover:

Thanks so much for the correction! I just edited the post and fixed it. For some reason, Scoobypedia listed it as being Polish.

It was also released in Greece, with a mirrored front cover and a different back cover.

Thanks for the info, I wasn't aware it was released in other countries too! I added it to the post. That makes it even more surprising that it was never released in the US!

I really WISH it was released in the US, I adore that episode and would love to have it in my extensive VHS collection

Me too! I love the classic Scooby VHS tapes too. I own three rare ones (Scooby and Scrappy Vol. 1, Wedding Bell Boos, A Halloween Hassle at Dracula's Castle) and it always makes me feel nostalgic to watch them.

It would be great if we had a complete box set of "The Scooby-Doo Show"!

I have a good few rare Scooby VHS tapes 4/18/2023 07:01:54 pm
That's a really nice collection! I always have wanted the Swamp Witch VHS, but have never really prioritized getting it. I've never been a huge collector, but the idea of having a VHS tape with an otherwise unreleased episode (even if it is just "Scooby at the Center of the World" lol) is something that's always been exciting to me haha. Maybe I'll have to try to track one down one day.

VHS tapes are my biggest collection Scooby or regardless, so I definitely keep my eye out 4/18/2023 09:23:25 pm
I don't really collect a ton of them, but I am very nostalgic about VHS tapes as well.

Partially, admittedly, part of the thrill is that they are mostly decently cheap, and even the very rare ones are pretty cheap in comparison to super rare items in other areas, like records, collectibles, or especially comics. So I can have something super rare without paying all that much for it. And plus, for those rare times like with Wedding Bell Boos or Halloween Hassle, it is nice to have a physical copy of an otherwise unreleased episode 4/19/2023 05:59:36 pm
That's true, I've seen Scooby VHS tapes go for like $5 which is crazy considering how rare they are. I've never been a big collector and I'm not a particularly materialistic person in general, so the Where Are You VHS tapes being cheap admittedly still doesn't make me want to buy them haha. I would definitely buy VHS tapes for other Scooby series though, even if it was something like The Scooby-Doo Show that was moderately popular but not oversaturated in terms of home media releases. 4/17/2023 07:19:19 pm
Apparently the bonus episode on the VHS is "Creepy Cruise," which makes me want it even more haha.
