After over two years of waiting, we will finally be getting the next Daphne & Velma novel on September 6 according to Amazon. When I reached out to her last year, the author Morgan Baden revealed that there were some printing issues that were preventing the book from release. Unfortunately, it seems like these issues prevented the book from having a physical copy released. The book will be available as an eBook only according to Amazon.

This is very bittersweet news. I am unbelievably excited that we will finally be allowed access to the book so that we can see how the trilogy ends! I have seriously come to love this iteration of the characters!

I'm super excited about this too! I also am a little disappointed we won't get a physical copy, since it would have been nice to have all three books in the same place. I was getting worried that this book was just going to never be released, so honestly I'm just grateful we're getting it at all at this point. September 6 can't come soon enough! :)

Mixed to this myself, I like ebooks especially for books at this grade level as read too fast to really have a satisfying read vs how much material I can carry at a time, but on the other hand it would be much nicer to display the entire series on the shelf.

Yeah, I would prefer a physical copy too, but tbh I'm just excited they're finally getting it out. I was beginning to worry they wouldn't release it at all given it had been over two years.

Weirdly enough I've yielded and just started the first one. At least it gets a conclusion but much rather a physical copy if I do finish it.

Glad to hear you're enjoying the first book! I'll be interested to hear your thoughts when you finish it.

I saw that Previews (a major comic book, toy, game and book distributor),solicited the hardcopy for june 28th 2023.

This is really interesting. On that main page, it says June 28, 2023, but if you click on book 3's page, the date says TBD. Oddly, the dates for the other two books are incorrect as well. Book 2 came out July 7, 2020 but they list it as July 29, 2020. Book 1 is listed as March 11, 2020 when it came out on March 3, 2020. So I'm not sure if that date is right, since it's a Wednesday and Scooby books typically come out on Tuesdays, but it's definitely something to watch. Thanks for the info, Mike!

So Previews is mostly a Comic distributor. Comics come out on Wednesday. That's probably why the books are dated for Wednesday. Also, there are certain items (like books) that come to certain markets (like amazon or bookstores) before they get to the Direct Market (A business term for comic stores). It's very possible that the book will come out in hardcopy next year, but due to contractual obligation, they need to distribute it in some form sooner. So they'll release it digitally now, so they can abide by their legal obligation, but later will release it in hardcopy. But, it may never come to hardcopy and this is another Warner/Discovery disappointment. Leave a Reply. |
