This week's poll is sponsored by hatred: always the best medicine for everything! (jk love yourself lol) We are, however, switching things up a bit this week, and instead of asking what you like the most, I'm asking what Scooby episode or film that you dislike the most. I've provided a list of the most commonly disliked things within the Scooby franchise, but if your most disliked episode or film isn't within the list I've made, you can write-in whatever your answer is in the "other" box. Obviously, all of us love Scooby and hate can be a strong word, so if you don't dislike any episodes or films, I've included an option for that as well. Here are the results from last week's poll:
What is your favorite episode/film involving the gang camping? Scooby-Doo! Camp Scare - 73 Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Werewolf - 8 The Caped Crusader Caper - 5 Strange Encounters of a Scooby Kind - 5 Attack of the Weird Al-osaurus! - 5 Camp Comeoniwannascareya - 4 The Story Stick - 3 The Norse Case Scenario - 3 Tenderbigfoot - 1 A Close Encounter with a Strange Kind - 0 The Mark of Scooby - 0

the show which I dislike the most is Get a Clue! the movies which I truly hate the most are Arabian Nights and Return to Zombie Island.

My pick has to go to Blowout Beach Bash for that incredibly irritating "Blowout Beach Bingo Bash" song that makes you want to throw your TV, phone, computer or whatever device you're watching it on out the window lol. The movie itself was just structured really poorly and it felt like they rushed it. Ghastly Goals had similar issues with structuring and just not being put together well, but it's not as bad as Blowout Beach Bash.

Cringey songs aside, I actually liked 'Blowout Beach Bash' a tad more than 'Haunted Hollywood'. I thought the story was more heart warming and original compared to the previous one, which just had too many pre-existing monsters thrown in.

@Jakob, do you see problems with anything Scooby-Doo at all? Blowout Beach Bash is tedious and irritating.

@Scoob16 Interesting you liked Blowout Beach Bash better. Like Becker, I just found it to be kind of tedious plot-wise and didn't feel like the plot had a lot of substance, compared to Haunted Hollywood even if they did throw in pre-existing monsters.

The first half of return to zombie was actually really enjoyable. But I mostly dislike the film because it ruins the story of the first film and the fact that the zombies were just actors was SOO irritating! So I don't dislike Zombie Island that much, 6/10

Return to Zombie Island would have been a good film on its own if it weren't a sequel to Zombie Island. To follow up one of the most critically acclaimed Scooby movies of all time by not taking into account continuity and making everything fake made me really dislike the movie, as a big fan of the original Zombie Island. It felt like there was no real reason for the movie to exist because it didn't add anything and just created continuity errors.

My main beef with Curse of the 13th Ghost is that it had so many Inconsistencies/continuity errors. I was truly shocked how many things were wrong with it, all of which are noted on scoobydoo.fandom.com
Reply
6/7/2021 12:12:53 pm
Yeah, there are a lot of continuity issues with that film. For one of the things you listed, did it take place in the winter though? I would argue that maybe it didn't, because the winter scenes were just them in the Himalayan Mountains, which doesn't necessarily mean it was winter.

I honestly don't know why 13 ghosts is so hated, I think it's a great film. I went with Daphne and Velma as I haven't watched "Arabian Nights" or "A clue For Scooby Doo". They did look bad though, I need to watch them sometime.

I think the reason why people hate curse of the 13th ghost, so much is because they were expecting it be a completely different movie. in my opinion it failed to provide a true resolution, for the show's unfinished storyline which was started in the series of the 13 ghosts of Scooby-Doo.
Reply
6/7/2021 12:14:06 pm
Expecting something else was exactly why I didn't like it. They advertised it as "the thrilling conclusion to the series after 34 years" but they didn't wrap anything up.

13 Ghosts would be a good film if it would have provided closure to the series and not had so many continuity errors, IMO. And yeah, I assume Jayden meant Get A Clue, not A Clue for Scooby-Doo.

Return to Zombie Island is quite better than Curse of the 13th Ghost imo. I didn't hate RTZI, but I didn't like it either. 6/8/2021 09:56:29 am
Yeah, if you're going to watch one of the two "sequel" films, I'd say Return to Zombie Island is the better one to watch. Return to Zombie Island at least would have been good if it wasn't a sequel. 6/7/2021 12:16:14 pm

You're definitely not alone, as it seems Daphne & Velma isn't a lot of people's thing. Interestingly enough though, it seems like people either really hate it or really love it. I haven't seen many reviews where people just thought it was mediocre or semi-decent.

Becker

I agree with Matt. The Magilla pirate part is decent and funny enough. The Aladdin/Yogi part is such a cheap and bland rip-off of Disney's Aladdin, only Yogi and Boo Boo are the saving graces of it. 6/8/2021 09:58:00 am
I can agree with that, I don't think the Aladdin story would have good if not for Yogi and Boo-Boo. I enjoy the Magilla story too, but the captain constantly screaming gets a little annoying after a while, which is why I like the Yogi one a bit better.

I did admittedly forget about Mystery Map, but I also liked it. I feel like once you get past the "AHHH, PUPPETS!" reaction, the story is pretty well written and seems like a lost episode of A Pup Named Scooby-Doo. It seems like they were trying to make it as close to Pup as they could, and they did a good job with it IMO.

I'll always be grateful I landed here early on when I first decided to add a Scooby collection to my DVD collection. 6/8/2021 10:03:18 am
Aww thank you! <3 Trying to collect Scooby episodes is super frustrating given how random WB is with their releases. Pretty much the entirety of the Scrappy years, as some of the Scooby-Doo Show, has to be collected on random compilation DVDs that include one or two episodes, because WB hasn't released them any other way. With The Scooby-Doo Show season 2, I think maybe their hesitance at first was because they were releasing all season sets pretty much with a lot of episodes on them, so 8 wouldn't have been enough. Now that they're releasing so many DVDs, it makes no sense for them to not release a season 2 set, and especially not to release the episodes on random sets one-at-a-time. Truly baffling indeed.

I wouldn't say I hate any of the films to the point of being unwatchable, except maybe Blowout Beach Bash. I really like your perspective that they all have flaws, but each movie is still good in its own way. I also totally agree that quirky Daphne from Be Cool was awesome and it's fun to see them bring that element back to Daphne's character a little with Happy Halloween and Sword and the Scoob.
