Bravo Dooby Doo got my vote. That crossover was so funny. The ghostly gardener was a cool threatening villain. The chase scene was really cool. The unmasking scene at the end with classic villains and the joe Barbara one was hysterical. It was also funny but mean that they just left Johnny ties up to the tree at the end. Speed buggy showing up at the end was cool. I like how this crossover was a like a reboot of the new Scooby doo movies. Johnny bravo was a really funny guest star. This special strongly showed the first romantic relationship between Fred and Daphne.

That would have been my favorite, though I voted for Scoobynatural. I felt like that special was so true to the Scooby-Doo formula and was a perfect, more mature reimagining of "A Night of Fright is No Delight."

Bravo Dooby Doo for me. One of the best Scooby episodes and it's not even part of a Scooby series.

Absolutely agree. I know a lot of fans consider this a Scooby special, but I've always thought of it as a crossover because it's officially part of the Johnny Bravo series but not part of any Scooby-Doo series. Does anyone else have an opinion on this?

It's a special crossover haha

Ha! I love that explanation. That is now officially the category that episode is in lol.

I loved Bravo Doing Doo! I have the chase song on my phone.
But my favorite crossover is ScoobyNatural. It was great because there was a balance. A lot of crossovers seem to focus on one show more than the other, but ScoobyNatural gave both series a great blend. It was crazy seeing blood and dead bodies in Scooby Doo. It was funny how the gang just glanced over it lol. A Night of Fright is No Delight being retold in a mature dark tone was satisfying to watch.

My favorite moment was when the gang learned that the supernatural stuff was real and they started freaking out! Like what did Daphne do to ask if she was going to hell! Lol.

Yeah, the gang was super sweet and innocent in Scoobynatural and it was so cute! <3 I 100% agree with you that it was the perfect blend of both shows, and I'm not even a Supernatural fan.

I'm not a Supernatural fan either but I was for this crossover!

Actually, on second thought, I probably shouldn't say I'm not a Supernatural fan, as I've never seen any other episodes besides this one or attempted to. Maybe I'll have to check out the whole series someday.

It’s obvious that Scoobnatural is going to win with Bravo Dooby Doo coming in second. Also happy birthday Dick Van Dyke.

I don't know, if the comment section is anything to go by, I'd say Bravo Dooby Doo has a chance of winning. I agree though that 1st and 2nd is between these two.

Oh, cool! I didn't know that! Happy birthday Dick Van Dyke!

Random question - most of my Scooby is on DVD rather than Blu-ray, but I recently picked up Aloha Scooby Doo on Blu-ray, which also came with it on DVD. The movie and DVD is from 2005, before Blu-rays were available in the US in general, so the Blu-ray didn't come out until 2011, according to Amazon. Now according to the DVD art on Amazon, the DVD is standard format "to preserve the original aspect ratio," but the Blu-ray is widescreen. I checked and compared both discs, and on the Blu-ray they didn't crop or stretch the image - so it must have originally been animated that way, and then cropped for the original DVD. Do you know if any of the other releases are like this? Thank you!

I actually don't have any Blu-rays so I unfortunately don't know! Sorry I can't help more!

Using your Home Media Releases database, I looked up the DTVs that were released on Blu-ray, and checked the DVD and Blu-ray artwork online.
The DTV DVDs were first released in widescreen starting with Camp Scare. That's also the first time that they were simultaneously released on Blu-ray.
The following previous DTVs were re-released on Blu-ray:
Cyber Chase
Legend of the Vampire
Monster of Mexico
Loch Ness Monster
Aloha
Samurai Sword

All of these, other than Cyber Chase, are widescreen. Based on the fact that Cyber Chase is older and was not widescreen on Blu-ray, and the Aloha Blu-ray that I have proves that it was originally animated in widescreen and cropped to standard version for the original DVD release, it is safe to assume that these 5 titles were animated widescreen, but only released that way when re-released on Blu-ray:
Legend of the Vampire
Monster of Mexico
Loch Ness Monster
Aloha
Samurai Sword

So that means that starting in 2003 with Legend of the Vampire, all of the DTVs were animated widescreen, but for the DTVs released up until Camp Scare, only those 5 titles have been released as widescreen on physical home media. I'm not sure about Digital Rentals/Purchases and Streaming though.

Thought this was an interesting fact for collectors out there, and might make a good "Fun Fact".

Thanks for looking that all up! I'm glad the guide was helpful, in this case partly for teaching me something new haha. That's super weird that they'd animated them widescreen and not released that way on DVD. That would be a great fun fact! I'll add it to the list of few ideas I already have and probably post it sometime in January, as there's actually one other suggestion someone emailed me recently that hasn't been posted yet. Thank you so much!

I was thinking about that. I guess by 2003 when they did Legend of the Vampire, they did it to future proof the content, as widescreen TVs first hit the US market in the early 2000s (but didn't become standard until 2009). But they obviously animated it with Standard in mind so that nothing important would get cropped off. So it's an odd situation where both aspect ratios are valid/non-compromised. I usually buy vidoes that match the original aspect ratio, but in this one case I'm going to make sure I have both in my collection.

Oh, that makes a lot more sense. I bet that's what happened. I honestly don't really know that much about the aspect ratios of each of the releases, given I don't have a Blu-Ray player so I just always get the DVD haha.

Hey, that was me! But unlike the villain poll, where I meant to pick the Zombies from Zombie Island, but accidentally clicked on the Zombies from Return to Zombie Island, I meant it.
Although I think in Birdman it's actually a parody rather than a crossover, like when Scooby is on MAD TV and Robot Chicken (all official WB shows, so they don't need to worry about frivolous lawsuits, of course).

WildwindVampire link
12/15/2020 08:44:02 pm

(This goes for anyone, btw) If you ever accidentally click an option you didn't want, let me know. The system is automatically set up to delete any duplicate votes so only the first votes counts, and if you vote for more than once for different options, it just deletes all your votes, even the first one. There are a surprising amount of people who try to cheat in these every week, so I just have that set up to prevent rigging the poll. If you let me know though that you accidentally voted for the wrong option, I'll be sure that it doesn't delete your second vote.

I think there's a lot of controversy over what counts as a crossover and what doesn't. Personally, I count Bravo Dooby Doo as a crossover because it was part of Johnny Bravo but not Scooby-Doo. I personally don't count some of those commercial shorts, like the Courage/Scooby one from 2000 as anything because it was just a commercial.

Colin
12/15/2020 08:58:30 pm

With Courage, I believe that other than the commercials, there was a special/episode spread out throughout the commercial breaks of a marathon, similar to what they did for "The Scooby Doo Project." It's lost media now, but a portion of it is on YouTube.
But I definitely know what you're saying with those early era Cartoon Network commercials.
I would just consider those Adult Swim shows as parodies of Hanna Barbara cartoons in general - I don't think people consider Space Ghost Coast To Coast as part of the cannon continuity of the classic Space Ghost show.
But could since it's all WB, they could be considered either parodies or crossovers.

Colin
12/16/2020 07:52:01 am

Also, not sure if you saw other Harvey Birdman episodes or not, but others are even more clearly parody - in the Yogi Bear episode, Bobo is the Unibomber - in the Flintstones episode, Fred is a mob boss, etc.

I love Johnny Bravo and bravo Dooby Doo but I have to vote Scoobnatural. It's very unique and has a darker tone than the most of the episodes.
