This week, we're starting a new poll series centered around the guest stars! The series is inspired by a great suggestion from Shadowscooby to do a poll series voting for favorite guest stars based on their careers. We're starting off this week with musical artists! For this poll series, I'm grouping together any guest stars who were in the same episode as one another.

Looking ahead to future weeks, there are a number of guest stars that fall into multiple categories (i.e. Jonathan Winters is an actor and comedian, Sonny and Cher are musicians and comedians, etc.). Since it's hard to determine what the most prominent aspect of their careers are, this poll series is going to be a bit of a switch-up. Guest stars will appear in more than one poll if they fit multiple categories. This means some options will have an advantage at getting more than one shot at the final round.

16. Smash Mouth - The least memorable guest star for me of this group. They barely have any role in "Reef Grief" which makes them an easy last place.

15. Kacey Musgraves - I love Kacey's music, but I was really disappointed by her episode. Kacey felt like she was just going through the motions. She was one of the least engaged guest stars of the show imo.

14. KISS - I struggled with where to put them. They bring a lot more energy to their role than the prior two, and are incorporated into the plot very well. However I felt the second half of the movie was a bit too weird, and Starchild's plotline with Daphne was creepy.

13. Halsey - Halsey was another guest star I was really excited for, but like Kacey, it didn't feel like she brought very much energy to the role. A part of that may have been an issue with the writing - I didn't like how they made all the poems so ridiculous, and The New York Underground seem like a bunch of zany weirdos rather than eclectic artists. What gives Halsey a leg up from Kacey though is I enjoyed how they included the historical tidbit at the end, which I know is connected to something Halsey is passionate about.

12. Weird Al Yankovic - I loved his episode the first time around, but rewatching this recently, it didn't feel like they got his humor. The episode is very goofy, but it didn't capture the zaniness and ridiculousness of his usual humor style imo. Btw, highly recommend the fake documentary he made for himself (Yankovic). It is one of the most ridiculous films I've ever seen in the best way possible lol.

11. Cass Elliot - Decent sized step up here. Cass did a great job and worked nicely with the plot, but the weight jokes bring this down.

10. Axl Rose - I was surprised by how much I liked "Dark Diner of Route 66!" on rewatch. They did a great job capturing a creepy, classic-feeling tone. Axl was a good guest star, but he specifically didn't play a large role in me liking the episode.

9. Lindsay Pagano - I really like "Riva Ras Regas," and thought Lindsay did awesome! She fit very well in the episode.

8. Sia - Sia stands out as one of the best guest stars of Guess Who. Her zaniness brings a lot of energy to the episode, and you can tell she had a ton of fun with the role.

7. Reverend Run - This would be much higher if we were ranking the episodes, because this is one of my favorites of Guess Who. Reverend Run stands out as one of the Guess Who guest stars that had the best chemistry with the gang.

6. Macklemore - Another episode I didn't remember liking, but I thought Macklemore was excellent. He seemed really passionate about his role, and I liked how the episode was written around baseball, which he's a huge fan of in real life.

5. Jerry Reed - I'm still not a big fan of his episode (other than the top-notch Sassy Fred moments lol), but Jerry stands out as a good guest star. He's probably boosted a bit by nostalgia if I'm honest, but I also liked the unconventional plot structure of the gang having to rescue him for the first half of the episode.

4. J.C. Chasez - Without spoilers, they did an amazing job incorporating him into the plot of this episode. It stands out one of the best uses of a guest star outside of The New Scooby-Doo Movies and Guess Who, second to only...

3. Simple Plan - This is such a fun episode! Simple Plan has such great chemistry with the gang, and they are absolutely the standout part of their episode.

2. Sonny and Cher - This was a tough choice because both remaining guest stars are iconic. It was a very close one, but I'm going with...

1. Davy Jones - Davy brings a lot of fun to his episode. He has great chemistry with the gang, and it's fun to see them explore the guest star's chemistry with the girls instead of just Shaggy and Scooby. I really enjoyed his warmth and charisma in this episode. It was very close, but my vote goes to him.

This was a tough poll as most of the singer guest stars were into the role so it was very hard to pick. I ended up going with Reverend Run. It was cool that they did an episode centered on a different music genre and with a hip hop superstar who was into his role.

Yeah, for the most part this was a pretty strong roster! I completely agree with you; most guest stars up until Guess Who had been rock or pop singers, so it was cool that they expanded to include a couple hip-hop artists in season 2 with Macklemore and Reverend Run.

this was a bit hard but i HAVE to go with Simple Plan

sure a lot of that has to do with my love of the What's New series but they make awesome music

i'd say a close second was Weird Al but he didn't get to sing any of his songs in the episode like imagine a Shaggy & Scooby-Doo eating montage with Eat It as the song

16. Sia- HARD pass

15. Halsey- Very weak guest star appearance, one of the prime examples of Guess Who guest stars being poorly written and the guest star ending up being an awkward fit, speaking of which

14. Kacey Musgraves- By FAR the most disappointing guest star performance of the franchise for me, at least out of real people (Hex Girls in I Put a Hex On You would take the cake otherwise). She was one of the guest stars in Guess Who I was looking forward to the most and she just felt like she didn’t care that much. Very disappointing as I consider myself a casual fan of hers

13. Macklemore- Another Guess Who appearance I didn’t care for. You can tell he at least wanted to be there, so he gets points over the last two for sure, but maybe this is a fault on the writing of the episode more so than himself, but if you are going to do the “guest stars is the villain” trope, then they need to fully commit to it like JC Chasez instead of the “I just wanted to spend time with the gang” stuff. Also, huge missed opportunity to not have Macklemore’s episode about a thrift shop instead of baseball lol

12. Weird Al Yankovic- I am going to have to agree with those who think they didn’t do a great job really writing for Weird Al’s style of humor

11. KISS- They are kind of helped a bit by the fact that with the way I think, I think of A Scooby Doo Halloween first where I quite like their appearance. However, they are more prominent in the movie, so they can’t get a higher placement than this

10. Axl Rose- Kind of like this episode, Axl Rose is… passable I guess. I don’t really have a desire to rewatch this at all, but it was decent enough I guess, which is definitely enough to make it among the best of the series for me. But again, the fact that I have no desire to revisit this also holds some weight for me

9. Smash Mouth- Smash Mouth are pretty good in their role, I just wish that role was more than it really is in this episode

8. Reverend Run- Credit where it’s due, this is probably the best episode of Guess Who, and Reverend Run may very well be the best guest star of the series. Granted, that doesn’t translate into much more than “okay” for me, but still not bad

7. Cass Elliot- I really like Cass’s performance here, but I do have to take off points due to the writing with the weight jokes being very outdated and pretty rude to someone who clearly is very happy to be there. With that being said, when you look past those jokes, her performance is great and the rest of the episode is pretty underrated in my opinion

6. Lindsay Pagano- Pretty much the only guest star here I have literally no familiarity with outside of Scooby Doo, she does a pretty good job here.

5. Jerry Reed- Huge jump up, I love all of the top 5 here. I’ll go with Jerry at 5, but I am outspokenly a big fan of this episode and how they use Jerry as a guest star, where for most of the episode, he isn’t helping solve the mystery, rather he IS the mystery

4. Davy Jones- Only barely ahead of Jerry here, Davy is a phenomenal guest star. Like Wildwind mentioned, there is a warmth that he brings to this episode, and I also like how he fit in with the gang to provide some different groups when they split up

3. JC Chasez- The absolute perfect use of a guest star that isn’t necessarily a main character in the episode, one of my all time favorites

2. Sonny and Cher- Sonny and Cher regrettably coming up just short in second place yet again. They are my fifth all time favorites guest stars, but Batman and Robin were fourth and these next guys are either second or third depending on the day…

1. Simple Plan- Maybe it is my love for Simple Plan and the Invisible Madman, but I think they are phenomenal. I like how they split up with the gang and provided different dynamics, and they definitely provided one of my favorite Scooby Doo chase songs

14. I would also consider Kacey's performance to be the most disappointing of the franchise. It felt surprisingly phoned in imo.

13. Having the episode set in a thrift shop is an epic idea! A huge missed opportunity indeed. They obviously couldn't have used the song in the episode, but "Thrift Shop" is such a banger!

12. Glad I'm not the only one who thought so. It wasn't something I noticed on my first watch, but it really stood out to me rewatching it again recently.

What about the Hex Girls band why are they not included in this poll. Because if you are doing just real bands then the Hex Girls was a real band until Scooby-Doo bought them out just wondering.

Yeah, I was only including real artists/bands here. I think the Hex Girls would win the poll in a landslide if they were included, so it makes for a more interesting poll to not include them imo. I appreciate you pointing them out though! :)

Although I love Halsey (one of my all time favourite artists) and really like Kasey’s music, their episodes aren’t very strong. For me KISS wins this. I just love the movie. It’s brand of zany and weird just really works for me and I find their dynamics with the gang to be super fun (minus starchild and Daphne, but his animosity towards Fred is pretty funny).
